  1. I know for a fact DB had a lot of "issues" with the way Engelstad management was running the arena. He would often mention to me, personally, how he thought they cared more about the "bottom line" (ie hosting circuses and whatever loser-country act was hot at the time) than making hockey the priority of the arena. Granted - hockey isn't a year-round endeavor but DB thought hockey was being taken for granted at times when it should have been the priority. I still think this is all a coincedence of timing but anyone else here (goo?) about the "filing cabinet" incident that might have been the last straw and maybe pushed dean to say, *uck it! yeah i'll take your nhl job?
  2. Talked to him last week...still the same old Karl. He's working hockey camps on the east side for Scanny...great guy and a real asset to GGF since he's living here in the offseason. Told me the east coast (syracuse) wasn't his cup o' tea lifestyle-wise and he's rather live here...always knew he was the sensible type!
  3. FFRRANNKK!!! Nice link!!! You Laker Shill you!!! okay...from a TOTALLY unbiased source - they do have a great board!! (skip the intro though...it's just PAINFUL!) I recommend the high thinking of the DII Football forum...they have a BRILLIANT guy named SiouxYou there (plus he has a great avatar!!) Check it out.... (oh sorry Frank...now who's the shill?:-)
  4. Thanks Dean, ...for being a "regular guy" although you had a super high pressure job that would have turned many into an uptight jerk ...for always making "us" feel welcome at practice every week, even though we were just doing our jobs, you always had a smile on your face and patience we really appreciated ...for making every season, even the few not-so-great ones, fun to watch and be a part of ...for your honesty...you never were one to sugarcoat the truth...and that's something else "us" guys appreciated ...for bringing some great athletes to GF...we don't know how much we (and hopefully they) will appreciate their UND experience in the future.... ...and finally, thanks...for putting your trust in Hak...if you think he's the man - I and many more are willing to go along with that endorsement for the future of this great program!!! Best of luck in the NHL!!
  5. and supposedly FIRED!
  6. I've been putting the voltage into Frank to plug L&M brats for a while - i get a nickel a weiner for every MOUTH WATERING BRAT they sell....mmmmmmm.....money!!! (PS - I'm planning to hold a barbecue for Laker Fans when they come to the AL this fall for the playoffs and grill up a few of those beauties so they can taste a bit of heaven aka the hot pepper cheese brats....or maybe the jalapeno brats....or maybe the....oh...they'll just have to wait...)
  7. Word on the fly is TB is BYE BYE!! REA dawns a new day!! The *ss is gone, no one is his pawn... Now a new GM they will find! No - this isn't Haiku...don't have this totally confirmed but apparently there are BIG changes in the works in the TOP management of the Ralph. Anyone else here anything...I've heard a couple doozies but like I said...not confirmed...BUT if true...THE KING IS DEAD!
  8. yeah...MOST CHICKS already say they're dried up and shriveled anyway!!!!!!!!
  9. IT'S ALIVE!!!! IT'S ALLIVVEEE!!!!!!! mmmm....hot pepper cheese bratts....aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. who?? You mean that team with no playoff opportunities in a made-up inaugural conference??? yeah - GO SDSU!!!!!!
  11. anyone know anything about Jacques? (sp?) Last word was he was having some personal problems - maybe moving to JR's too early or whatever...he had some great talent and it would be a shame to see it go to waste...
  12. (wind whistling........) TUMBLEWEED BLOWING THROUGH! (more wind........) YOU MONSTER! Trying to pull us away from our barbeques and beer coolers and hordes of mosquitoes....don't you know it's SUMMER in North Dakota!! SHEESH...we only get about 2 weeks of it a year...let us enjoy it
  13. Then I think they should raise season ticket prices to $5000 a season...WOW...Imagine the revenue they'd get....that's $55 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!!! AWESOOMMEEE!!!! WE'RE LIKE BAJIIONAIIRES RIGHT HERE AT UND!!!! now to reality...you're right...if there's SUPER HIGH DEMAND...charge whatever you think you can get and best of luck...if you sell out at your super inflated prices..great! I can guarentee, short of corporations writing big checks...YOU WILL NOT! They're trying to squeeze the orange for all the jiuce they can get but even an orange can only produce so much juice. Remember the old Ralph??? where a "SELLOUT" had about 4000 fans in a 6000+ seat facility because they "sold out" to corporate interests whose main interest, apparently, was throwing Sioux hockey tickets in the garbage every week?? Ralph built this place to make money, but he also built it to honor the tradition of Sioux hockey - which, if I need to remind you...is a jam-packed nuthouse of screaming fans who can afford $8-10 bucks to get into a game....not $25 or more A GAME for the "privilege" of being "allowed" into a Sioux hockey game to buy a $5 beer....that's b*llshit and against everything this sport should be about....my opinion...
  14. hey Ruffian, You might also try some of the smaller towns near GF and TRF for accomodations...Grafton (40 mi.) and Hillsboro or Mayville (also about 40 mi.) in North Dakota or if you want to be centrally located between GF and TRF you might try Crookston, MN. (25 mi.) - They all have small Super 8 or AmericInn type motels that might be available for less than the gouging prices you'll see around here for the Jr's....you won't find them on expedia or travelocity but if you dig a bit - I bet you can find a place near GF for less than $50 a night...which will be cheaper even with $2.00 a gallon gas....some small advice from a local....
  15. It would be interesting to see how their season ticket drive (for both FB and HKY turned out...) I know for a fact my father-in-law didn't renew his season hockey ticket because of the fsc membership requirement and 2 neighbors who also had season tickets didn't do so for the same reason. UND/REA has always claimed they have hundreds of people on "waiting lists" for season tickets...guess it's time to put up or shut up....
  16. mmmmm....slleeeppppy too...with you...not like we're sleeping in the same bed together....the monster snores......AUGUST IS COMING SOON!!
  17. NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Ralph-O-Rama is PERFECT!!!!!:-)
  18. As mentioned in a previous thread...I'm starting a campaign to get the mini-mall by the Ralph nicknamed the "RALPH-O-RAMA" You know, the REA is called the Ralph....the REA in TRF is called the Little Ralph...It only makes sense to call this place the RALPH O RAMA! Tell your friends....
  19. oohh...I thought the trailer that's still just opposite the Betty WAS the new wellness center...will this new place be "gated" as well to keep the rough northenders out too?
  20. ...getting back to the MAIN point...I see this auction has had well over 200 views...mostly due to people on this board!! I'm sure the seller is going "WOW - look at the views!!"
  21. Hey Mav! I'm not the guy selling this thing...just thought it was funny and posted it up here for people to look at. AND I do know an a-hole when I see one and IT'S YOU!!!!!!!! (this will no doubt come as no suprise to you) If you're SO EBAY PERFECT....what do you have running now we can look at?? I'd love to bid on of your items...I can be a very difficult customer...
  22. The Sicatoka is right...for a town our size we are lucky! We needed and voted for the Alerus, then got the Ralph as a bonus gift! There is some unavoidable competition and the Al does run a deficit but when you look at the big picture - GF is MUCH BETTER OFF for both the present and the future with both facilities.... remember...we used to subsidize the old Civic Auditorium (yeah, the old ARMORY downtown) to the tune of -$150,000 a year and what did that old pig generate?
