WE FOUND AN ANONYMOUS SOURCE who confirms it...no one can question an "anonymous" source because we don't know who it is. FORTUNATELY (for them) it all plays out at many thought it would - and has - VOILA!!! THE HERALD'S CALL WAS RIGHT!!! HAKSTOL IS THE COACH!!! (see 30 point type headline in Fridays Herald - Guarenteed!) when REALLY they went out on a very short and obvious limb and it payed off. WAY TO GO HERALD!!!!! was at the Shrine practice at UND today and didn't see BT on the field or on the sideline....the Shrine Media Relations Department isn't exactly on the ball and BT may never have been taken off the first list of Shrine Players even though he's no where to be found....also that wouldn't be the first time the FORUM was wrong on something....

ie...to ensure the incoming recruits or current players STAY at UND....

I would assume if the time limit for the INTERNAL SEARCH has or is about to expire...Rog would have to come out and say..."we're expanding the search on a national level..." That would have to happen very soon...or we're wasting more time and possibly making recruits and current players think twice about attending or coming back to UND. I thought that was the intention of the "fast track" INTERNAL search in the first place....

NEWS FLASH!! I have an "unnamed source" who has identified the Herald's "unnamed source" - it was Scott Hennen. I won't reveal my "unnamed source"...oh what the hell...it was my father in law...who bumped into Hennen over the weekend and I'm sticking by my story. There you go!!

He MOVED UP to be a DI assistant at that powerhouse Temple!! He's had quite an impact there....why...last time I looked...Temple STILL SUCKED!!!

so you're saying UND would WASTE a week with an "internal" search before posting the job nationally when they could have just cut to the chase and done that right away?? Hakstol could have applied to a national search and still have been considered one of the leading contenders....AGAIN...there was a reason Roger went INTERNAL with the choice to list the position....

the FishWrap is BIGTIME covering their *ss! You may have noticed the TOTALLY self-serving line from friday's story..."The herald is sticking with the story"...even though Rog officially DENIED, on the record, the job had been offered to Hak with the completely logical arguement that he, as athletic director, doesn't have the authority to offer a job to anyone outside of the MINIMUM LEGAL REQUIREMENTS for posting the position internally. If the Herald really had balls...they'd NAME the source of the "hired" quote! (The CageLiner HAS been known to mis-interpret things or just plain GET THEM WRONG before) Again, read between the lines, the decision to go internal was essentially an endorsement of Hakstol for the job...IF Berry applies for the head spot, that complicates things slightly (meaning Roger will have a "decision" to make) I don't think he will. I think an informal "understanding" has been made on this whole deal. HEY PAT!!! maybe you should put your cub reporter hat and call Brad Berry and ask him if he intends to apply....if he says NO...then it's a done deal!! END OF STORY!

Just the fact the UND went "internal" for coaching position was confirmation Hak would be the next coach. There was no need for Virg to claim an "unnamed source says Hakstol was offered the job"....that's exactly what UND's "internal" decision meant...HELLO!! Of course UND has to follow procedure and "open" the job for a week - it's something they have to do. Don't blame Rog for just saying what he has to say right now...the decision has been made and will be announced in due course next week. (I HOPE THE SUSPENSE DOESN'T KILL ME:-) The Herald was simply overblowing a headline that came out on TV the night before to make it look like they were FIRST with the story...if they really wanted to be bold - they'd name the unnamed source....
