  1. I don't often agree with you, but you are absolutely correct on this. I have a closet full of Fighting Sioux gear and I will continue wearing it. However, at some point UND needs to move on with a different name and identity; as painful as it is for us diehards. The sooner we move on, the sooner we can focus on the teams and athletes.
  2. The MVFC is solid, the Slummit is not. And there was no guarantee of a spot in the MVFC for our FB team when we were shopping for a conference, so that made the Slummit a poor option.
  3. The growth of Grand Forks is fairly recent and thus it will take some time to catch up on infrastructure. Road projects need planning and funding and both of those take time. I think we'll get there in the next couple of years.
  4. I think 47th Avenue South is a possible location for the south-end bridge that we will need at some point. I think we'll also need I-29 Interchanges at 17th Avenue South and 47th Avenue South if we continue growing on the south and west ends like we are now. It is much better to have these problems than have a shrinking tax base, shortage of jobs and lack of amenities that used to plague Grand Forks. If anything, the 1997 flood gave us the opportunity to reinvent ourselves, especially downtown.
  5. This is the problem with a lot of things. We need a south-end bridge.....but people complain and it doesn't happen. We need another N-S artery.....but people will complain and it won't happen. It is time our elected officials tell the NIMBY crowd that they don't have the right to make these decisions for everyone else and just do what needs to be done. Stop thinking about re-election once in a while.
  6. A neutral site game is a very interesting idea and one that should be explored. It would make tons of money for both schools and it would give alumni who live outside of the immediate Red River Valley region a chance to watch their team live and in person. It would also solve the issue of where the game(s) should take place.
  7. Grand Forks is experiencing more, faster growth than it is used to. Which means infrastructure is falling behind. Infrastructure always lags behind growth. Look at Minneapolis-St. Paul; they are always behind the curve when it comes to upgrading interchanges and widening their freeways. Fargo is experiencing the same phenomenon.
  8. Wrong thread gfhockey.
  9. That 35,000 number was being thrown around during the pessimistic post-flood period, which lasted several years. I don't believe it was ever that bad. It is so good to see us moving up instead of down.
  10. A very gross generalization. I for one am not clamoring to play FU again and there are a decent number of people in our fan base that feel the same way. And I am definitely not in favor of Faison genuflecting to the FBS wanna-bes in Fargo.
  11. At any price? Do we need them that badly? I say no. If the costs outweigh the benefits, you don't do it. Faison had better stand his ground on this.
  12. According to mg2009, probably ghosts since he is always on here talking about the apparent demise of the GF-EGF MSA.
  13. Property developers simply do not "gamble" with millions of dollars unless they believe there will be a solid ROI pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Have you not heard all the stories of the lack of housing in Grand Forks? This is supply trying to catch up to demand and supply still hasn't caught up. As for the "modest population growth" of Grand Forks, let's remember that the Census Bureau has a long history of undercounting the population of Grand Forks. I think the private sector has finally caught on to that fact and is building apartments to meet actual need instead of assumed lack of need.
  14. So your solution is to bow down at the alter of Bisonville? And no, they have not "earned that power". This is not how scheduling works anywhere else in college sports and Faison had better think twice about doing this. Could anyone imagine Alabama or Auburn bowing down to their biggest rival and agreeing to this? I can't either.
  15. I am talking about today. And today, I would argue Iowa and Iowa State have a much better relationship than UND and NDSU. I honestly think the fan bases hate each other more now than when we were playing every year.
  16. I think Faison is feeling the pressure from certain people to get the game back on the schedule. The way I see it, the price is too freaking high. If Faison caves in on this, every single game from now on will be in Fargo (except possibly playoff games). And that is simply unacceptable. You are not FBS. You are not in the B1G. And you don't deserve to have everything handed to you on a silver platter. And Faison would be wise not to give in on this.
  17. Sorry son, that isn't how it's going to work. You are not an FBS program, we will not cater hand and foot to you. And I imagine Iowa and Iowa State have a much better working relationship than UND and NDSU. It wouldn't take much. And a little free advice, lay off this particular beverage, too much of anything isn't good for the body:
  18. Even though Rodent FB is better than it has been for a long time under Jerry Kill's leadership, you are right.
  19. Where did this asinine idea that somehow UND is on the hook to "suck it up" or "take what is given to them" come from? It's been over 10 years since we stopped playing; it is time they get over what mean old Roger Thomas did to them. And I don't care if NDSU wins TEN consecutive FCS titles, the very concept of every game being in Fargo from now on needs to die right here and right now. Period. Faison needs to be a hardliner on this or God only knows what else FU will demand next. Could anyone imagine Iowa or Iowa State caving in to something like this? Then why should we? We shouldn't.
  20. He is just trolling for attention. Ignore him. When you don't have the facts on your side, you have no choice but to resort to trolling. It's the FU way!
  21. http://www.grandfork...arantee-game-gf My answer to the bolded part is simple: We refuse to play them unless it is in the playoffs. Simple as that. If Faison caves in on this, what will they demand next? A contract guaranteeing that all future regular season games take place in Fargo? Mr. Faison, you have done a solid job as AD of this department, but this would be a monumental mistake. If anyone else feels the same way, here is Mr. Faison's e-mail address: brian.faison@athletics.und.edu
  22. I would guess no. But very few schools have the level of delusion infecting their fan base like NDSU does.
  23. Eight of those titles (five playoff titles and three beauty contests) were Division II titles and three of them were FCS titles. How many people outside of Imperial Cass County care about D-II and FCS titles? Yes, I know, UND is at the same level, but nationally no one outside of our immediate region cares about those. I don't have a problem with that, but all the bandwagoners in your fan base do. And they HATE being called out on it. NDSU = Big Time only in the minds of their most delusional fans.
  24. Ah yes, but you forget darell1976, hockey is a "niche sport" that nobody outside of Grand Forks cares about. Yeah and which city is Matt Greene bringing the Stanley Cup to again?
  25. For being such a big fan of NDSU football, you should know all this by heart. And stop spinning so much, you'll get dizzy!
