  1. Probably still mourning the under-achieving Penguins and their early exit.
  2. This is how I feel when people compare UND to Team Thug N Slug (Philadelphia Flyers). I would pick the Flyers over the Hab-nots, but not by much.
  3. Wilkerson is a relic from the 1960's and 70's. This is long overdue.
  4. The nickname opponents got what they wanted; now they are exploiting every opportunity to dance in the end-zone (and on our faces). And when they provoke a backlash (which is bound to happen if they keep pushing this), they'll scream and cry "racism", "bigotry" and whatever else they can come up with. Is anyone else as sick of this whole issue as I am?
  5. The Washington Americans, and keep the logo as a nod to Native Americans as the original inhabitants of this continent?
  6. The NFL will be forced to strong-arm Daniel Snyder into changing the team name for PR purposes. You might start seeing corporate sponsors pull their money out and use it elsewhere; that would be the final nail in the coffin. I'm not a huge fan of all this PC nonsense, but I don't think it can be stopped. And if Snyder doesn't like it, he can just sell the team to someone else. Based on the performance of the team during the Snyder regime, it might be a blessing in disguise.
  7. Hey now Fetch, I am a good lefty and I have absolutely ZERO patience for the garbage we have been listening to for almost a week now.
  8. My point is that I knew they were going to go there and with Kelley and his staff bending over backwards to please them, it is not out of the question. All I am saying is be vigilant. I am going to be watching very closely.
  9. I don't want to say "I told you so", but.....
  10. This is getting uglier and uglier.
  11. Would putting Rush Limbaugh on SportsCenter make you happy?
  12. What have I been telling all of you? The stage is being set. Remain vigilant.
  13. This is so exciting for our athletic programs.
  14. No MafiaMan, there will be hints and signals that will alert us before it happens. That is when we strike.
  15. I seriously doubt that, but let's stick to the issue at hand. While I think it is extremely unlikely that Fighting Sioux gear will be banned from UND sanctioned events, it is important for us to remain vigilant and aware of the situation. If we sense that it is being considered, that is our cue to write letters or e-mails to Kelley, Faison and REA and inform them what will happen if they do that. Until then, let's just wait and see if something happens.
  16. I agree with you. But Kelley and common sense are generally not used in the same sentence very often. I just think we should keep an eye on it.
  17. I am convinced that there will now be a push to ban Fighting Sioux apparel at UND sanctioned sporting events. This is the perfect incident to exploit to try to make this happen and UND will want to do something to take the heat off. And I will tell everyone right now that I will not stop wearing my custom-made, authentic Fighting Sioux hockey jerseys (green, white and black). And if that means no longer attending UND-sanctioned sporting events, then so be it. Remain vigilant everybody.
  18. Amen Sioux-cia, I am also more blue than red, but not on the topic of political correctness. I just heard on KFGO that some people want the students wearing the t-shirts expelled. Really? So doing typical college-aged stupid things should now be an expulsion-level offense? That is just going way too far. We retired the name and logo, but that just isn't good enough for them. If they start demanding that people be barred from wearing Fighting Sioux jerseys and other apparel to athletic events, that will be the last straw for me and a lot of other people on here. Btw, I thought retiring the name and logo was supposed to help prevent "insensitive" actions like this from happening. So much for that idea.
  19. NFL Hall of Famer John Randle, undrafted free agent out of Division II Texas A&I (now Texas A&M-Kingsville) comes immediately to mind.
  20. I guess I am not a fan of that happening under ANY President. The Executive branch has gotten steadily stronger since the beginning of the Cold War during the Truman Administration, when it is supposed to be a co-equal branch of government with the Legislative and Judicial branches. God only knows what the NSA, CIA and FBI all do without oversight or public knowledge. My real nightmare would have Dick "Darth Vader" Cheney in charge of the Federal Government. There is no telling how many wars we would get sucked into if he was Commander In Chief.
  21. There is WAY too much emphasis put on metrics at the NFL Combine. QB is all about leadership, poise under pressure and intelligence (both FB and intellectual). JaMarcus Russell was picked #1 overall by Oakland because of his cannon arm. Where is he? Out of the league. And if Brett Favre, who spent his entire life in southern Louisiana (and went to college in Mississippi) can play in the "frozen tundra of Lambeau Field", not to mention road games at Chicago twice a year, anybody should be able to. Let's give Bridgewater a couple of years before throwing him under the bus.
  22. Her mom tried it the "official" way and she got the "official" brush-off. She waited for 6 months for these administrators to do their freaking jobs and they didn't do it. And I don't care why they didn't do anything about it, it's a massive EPIC FAIL and needs to be fixed. This brave mom had no choice but to put this online; she wasn't getting anywhere being nice and sweet about it. As for this notion that "bullies are part of life, you have to have a thick skin", that is blame the victim scpa0305 and I am sorry, but that is offensive. Women get blamed for being raped all the time and this is not much different. Do you really think the onus should be on this 8-year-old girl to "choose" to have a thick skin and "choose" to deal with it herself? This is why bullying is such a big problem; we blame the victim and the offenders can just do whatever they want to whomever they want whenever they want. If anything, it's the BULLIES that need to learn a lesson about life: If you act this way in the "real world", you will either a) lose your job, b) get into legal trouble or c) both. Why is bullying acceptable in school, but not in "real life"? It makes no sense and it sends mixed signals to our kids.
  23. I will come on here and take this back if this ends up being something else. But I have heard this narrative play out with other parents in other school districts when they ask school administration to nip bullying in the bud and all they seem to get is static. And please don't use the "FERPA" defense; if they would have dealt with this firmly and fairly and imposed serious consequences on this garbage, this never would have gone viral and we wouldn't be talking about it. Bullying is NOT a "rite of passage" and it is not "a normal part of growing up". I guess I am just sick and tired of bullying victims being ignored and/or blamed for what happens to them. I will now step back and wait to see what happens.
  24. Does this emoticon mean "serious" to you? I hope not.
  25. That's the point, the suits are trying to cover it up, so this likely hasn't happened. Or if it has happened, they probably just gave the kid a slap on the wrist and nothing else was done. And it probably would have been swept under the rug if it wasn't for this mom doing what needed to be done. Hats off to her.
