  1. I think you really meant........
  2. Nope. And neither was I.
  3. Well, even the professionals bomb jokes (Bob Zany for instance).
  4. Opps, sorry. My brain had an off moment.
  5. How you would measure it? Just go back to two points per game and each team gets one point for a tie. And if you went to 4x4 for 10 minutes, you would drastically reduce the number of ties. You can bank on that.
  6. The problem in the NHL is that some teams were ending the season with 15-20 ties. That obviously is a problem. Thus the shootout was added. I personally think a 10 minute 4 x 4 OT would dramatically cut down on the ties and I wish college hockey would adopt it uniformly across all leagues. I can live with the shootout for regular season NCHC games. But let's eliminate the shootouts after non-conference ties; they serve ZERO purpose since no conference points are on the line.
  7. I sure hope you are right about this. However, I have learned in this world to never say never about anything.
  8. I have no desire to run with the herd (whether it be the shootout herd or the NDSU Thundering Herd). I honestly don't care if 99% of the population likes shootouts, I think they are stupid.
  9. What is wrong with the occasional tie? You could have 4 x 4 OT periods and lengthen them 10 minutes. That would reduce the number of ties so we don't have teams with 20 ties at the end of the season.
  10. Nice cheap shot. You couldn't stay on topic, could you? Obviously, as long as there are shootouts, I want our team to grab that extra league point. That doesn't mean I like the idea of using them in a team sport. When there is a serious proposal to start using shootouts in the Stanley Cup playoffs, I will be nice enough not to come on here and say "See, I told you so."
  11. I usually leave during a shootout after a non-conference tie; those are meaningless and a waste of everyone's time. My basic point is that the shootout is an abomination to the sport; I don't care how "entertaining" it is. You are reducing the outcome of a team game to a cute skills competition. Unacceptable.
  12. I could live with that. Anything but the infernal shootout; it has no place in our game at any level.
  13. My thinking on the DH is have it in both leagues or don't have it at all. The DH in MLB is like the NHL Western Conference having one set of OT rules and the Eastern Conference having a different set of OT rules. Make the rule (whatever it is) uniform across the sport.
  14. A pretty accurate write-up.
  15. This made me wish they had gone with a full house backfield and run people over by running it 75 to 80% of the time. Throw in some option plays (Studsrud was pretty good with his legs). That would have been more of a smash-mouth offense than what they put our there.
  16. Santiago is a great RB, no question. But all those predictable running plays on 1st and 2nd down, followed by the inevitable 3rd down pass, have killed this team at times. When the fans can predict what the play call is going to be, how hard is it to defend? I am guessing not too hard. You need to have some level of unpredictability to score points at this level. Rudolph doesn't seem to get that. He doesn't have the best talent across the board, not even close. But the cupboard isn't as bare as it was when he got here. Time to produce more points so the defense doesn't have to do everything by itself.
  17. Nobody is "letting others off the hook" for anything. But the fact is Rudolph has not been utilizing the talent he has at his disposal. And people are just sick and tired of it.
  18. Unless the QB is calling his own plays (I assume he is not), the buck stops with Rudolph when it comes to play-calling and subsequent lack of results. The reverse play vs. Richmond was the wrong call at the wrong time and that is on Rudolph. Not on "lack of execution".
  19. I mean someone from the highest levels of the game (head coach, general manager) who has real influence on how things work (or don't work). Never say never about anything. We need to guard against shootouts having any place in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
  20. Will you say the same thing when someone proposes using the shootout in playoff games? It will happen, count on it.
  21. I was being sarcastic about the "FCS" for basketball. I hope you are right.
  22. I guess if you can't beat the mid-majors in the NCAA tournament, rig the system against them. Why don't they just create an "FCS" for basketball and be done with it? SMH
  23. They will be entering our strength and conditioning program. That will bulk them up.
  24. Hope he has a back-up plan when they screw him out of promised educational benefits.
  25. Why, is he thinking about going Major Junior? (sarcasm)
