  1. And God only knows how many years after that. Because around here, all that matters are "relationships" and "teaching life lessons".
  2. Missouri State?
  3. Well, this is turning out to be another bad day for UND athletics.
  4. But according to @jdub27, this is completely unacceptable behavior by us fans and needs to stop. Seriously though, I agree with you. The funding model worked in Division II, but it does not work at Division I. We should never have moved up without a solid financial plan to fund what is necessary to be competitive and successful. But we did move up, so our only choice is to be successful. Failure is not an option.
  5. Love the comment in bold! I sometimes catch myself doing that. I don't expect The Forum to cover Grand Forks more. I DO expect that if they buy the Heraldo, they won't strip it bare of content and then shut it down because people aren't buying it and/or reading it online. It just seems like that is the endgame here and it makes me sick. Either stop stripping it bare or sell it someone else. Honestly, if I want quality print news, I have to pick up a Star Tribune, lots of good news from all over the world in there.
  6. I am a paid subscriber to the print edition. Have been for years. So save the "put your money where your mouth is" comments. And my original point stands: Why did they purchase a newspaper in a town they have zero interest in covering? Seems like a waste of money. Unless they are just trying to eliminate the other major newspaper in the valley so they can force the Forum on everybody. They think they are the New York Times or the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, but they aren't.
  7. From a business standpoint, it makes sense? Why does it make sense to buy the Heraldo, then run it into the ground, thus causing people to stop buying and reading it? Unless their ultimate goal was to run it into the ground, thus giving them an excuse to shut it down and dissolve it and call it a "business decision". If they don't care about Grand Forks, then sell the Heraldo to someone who does. Maybe a bunch of us can pool our resources and buy it from them. We could run it like the Green Bay Packers (ugh, I just threw up in my mouth typing that!).
  8. Or maybe the GOBC can pony up the cash to buy out Bubba? #putuporshutup
  9. Actually, I don't blame Bubba as much as I blame the lack of leadership over the past 10 years at UND. That is the root of the problem. But Bubba does deserve some of the blame for losing to bad teams on a regular basis. I really don't care if people agree with my posts or not. What I don't like is people that rip me, but then have no alternate theories and/or ideas as to why things are as bleeped up as they are. The next UND Presidential hire will be critical for all aspects of this university (athletics, academics AND research). And we better get it right this time.
  10. We found the money to buy out Mussman back in 2013. Or were you against that too? You like to claim you don't like the way things are right now, but you don't come up with any ideas of how to make things better. If people think you like the status quo, that is why they think that. And you just LOVE to rip on others when they brainstorm on this forum. Well, you better get used to that, because that is part of what a discussion forum is for. Bottom line: We have botched this Division I move and we need to figure out how to fix it as soon as possible. Or all people will think of when they think of North Dakota is Bison, Bison, Bison.
  11. We came up with the money to buy out Mussman. Anybody know how much that cost?
  12. All of the above.
  13. If the refs had done their job in last year's NFC title game, the new rule wouldn't be there. That was the absolute worst non-call on PI ever.
  14. The NFL's wet dream is a Super Bowl between the Patriots and the Packers. The Patriots don't have much competition in the AFC this year, but the Packers have a lot of competition in the NFC. So they are giving them a hand up AND a hand out. It is sickening.
  15. Who cares about polls in October? For that matter, who cares about polls at anytime during the season?
  16. Nice job taking my comments out of context. The expectations around here have been watered down for a long time. If you don't see that, then you are not paying attention.
  17. Karma is tough to swallow, isn't it Mr. Brown. #CRASHEaglesCRASH
  18. Right here. Here is one of the problems in this program and a few others on campus. "They weren't expected to go 10-0, they were predicted to be either 7-4 or 6-5." People will invariably live up or down to the expectations that are set for them. So if the "standard" around here is 7-4 or 6-5, that is what you will get. And you are right, this isn't the NFL. But it isn't high school either. But that is how this athletic department has been run for so many years. Chaves picked one heck of a time to come here as athletic director. Lots of crap to clean up.
  19. Good summary. Agree 1000%
  20. So this is high school athletics now? Doh-Kay.
  21. Agreed. Record fundraising numbers and athletics continues to scrape the bottom of the barrel for loose change. We need to think outside the box when it comes to raising money for facilities, coaching salaries and so on.
  22. Maybe you were trying to be cute earlier. I guess I am not in the mood for jokes. The current situation at UND was caused by lack of leadership, incompetence and outright ignorance. And it is absolutely sickening.
  23. You are correct. And Richman will have to have sustained success going forward if he wants to stick around. But they took advantage of their opportunity.
