I will disagree with you that in fact it did have to do with atheletics and gaining an advantage on the playing field. Why did they keep all of this a secret. Paterno knew about this. The fact that he didn't report this is awful. If all of this would have come out 10 years ago, they would have most likely fired Paterno back then. You don't think that Penn State has a recruiting advantage in Joe Paterno? He is their number one football recruiting tool. Not having him as head coach would have dramatically hurt recruiting of top players. So because they covered up all these allegations, they knew their were going to be reprocutions if this ever came out. So by keeping it a secret and having Joe Paterno continue to remain the head coach, they absulutely gained an advantage in recruiting which translates to the playing field. So vacating all wins during this time persiod was ,IMO, absulutely appropriate.

Only difference is FBS schools lose millions each year when they don't make a bowl game. FCS schools lose thousands.

I am sure Penn state can "live with" the sanctions and it won't affect their program as much as people are saying .

My guess is the amount of revenue they will recieve from the Big Ten Network will be significantly reduced for a couple years.

Not suprised much by that. Wasn't really going to get much playing time behind Hanson and Bradley. And not to much in the future with Molberg coming in.

Alright, the election is over...Grandstrand lost...by a very large margain at that. He is obviously not ready to be mayor. But that doesn't mean that he can't be successful and bring great ideas to the city council. We need young guys with great ideas to grow the city on the council. The old farts on the council that have been there for years nood to start doing something to grow this city or they will be replaced with younger people with ideas.

Canadians!! Now that the Canadian goverment has increased the personal exemption limit for the value of pruducts that can be brought back, Canadians will be buying more and more stuff. Also buliding this ne Walmart in view of !s9 off Gateway drive will be important to for visability.

Most of us know that the Alerus can get very load. A lot of people, mostly current students, don't realize how loud it can actually get and how much of an advantage that is. In UC Davis' first possesion in that 01 playoff game, I think they had 3 false start penalties to start the game. Got louder after each one!! It was unbelievable!! I know that we can get back to that type of atmoshpere.

Anyone else wonder why they don't sell replica football jerseys? Don't you think that there would be a demand for those? You see UND football jerseys but they aren't replica ones. Buy. Later games will better for fan attendance. New conference with new teams that people are going to ant to see because we will be playing them for a long time now. Hanson to Hardin should put on a good show this year. Add on the new turf and new jerseys, and the fact we are playoff eligible again...should be rocking in the Al this fall!!

I think its funny how for years people were complaing how horrible it lookes that the helmets didn't match the jerseys. Now that they are changing it to do that, people are still pissed. Some people will just never be please I guess!

I think the issue then was that Bison fans were in their "UND doesn't want to keep playing us in football, screw them" phase. There were many fans that were pissed off about that and that we didn't move to D! with them that they vocally said that they wanted nothing to do with UND and SDSU was going to be their biggest rival now. So they were replacing UND with SDSU as their primary rival, when they weren't really much of one to begin with. Montana State,Montana, etc may be teams that we are going to begin new rivalries with, but they will never replace NDSU. We are not replacing NDSU with Montana State. In 04, NDSU was replacing us with SDSU. So it was almost forced.

I have no problem with NDSU having a rivalry with SDSU. They are the closest school in their conference that they play every year. Same will be true for UND and Montana St. Both schools have to fill the void of not having what was one of the best college rivalries in football. I think that both fans agree that a rivalry game between any other school will never equal to what the NDSU/UND rivalry was.

The difference is NDSU fans were saying that SDSU is their rival now and htey were replacing UND with NDSU. In this case, UND is adding a rival and we want to have a ravalry trophy since we play then every year. They will never replace NDSU as our biggenst rival. That is what NDSU fans, etc were saying about SDSU.

I can't remember the last sellout at the Betty for a mens basketball game. Has there even been one? I think if we are successfull this year than fans will show up. But, I don't see a sellout. So I will take the under.

With the new additions of bigger and better big men, I think that the points are going to be spread out pretty well between the starters and the bench. SO I will take under. But I don't think that Huff will be that far under. I see him as being double digits for average points. the road has not been our friend in the past and I don't see it getting easier this year. This will be the defining stat to look at this season that absulutely needs to improve. That being said, I think that we will figure out our road woes and be over .500.
