  1. Among others, I have a few in the collection. Sad tears.
  2. KEM aside... Kennedy has probably done some good things but seems oblivious to much other things. It would be in SBoHE interest to publicly rave about him, privatley encourage him to actively seek another position. And laud him on the way out. Best for everybody, and if KEM really wants this I would suggest ZERO more public commentary and use only back channels. Others dont want tainted meat, lets throw the guy abticker tape goodbye parade and pay some mourners to wail in the lement of his moving on.
  3. You even have one of the Brian Lee curse of satan cards. Thats the one they cut up a Sioux gamer to use in the cards.
  4. Black Jerseys should be retired for a good ten years.
  5. Do yhe host schools of thr regionals make profit from the weekend?.
  6. When did the Bison cheer team enter the conversation?
  7. With this schedule, and missing the tourney again.... Next year could be the best opportunity to either upgrade significantly or get in on season tickets.
  8. Hockey "classes" cant be based off of school attendence. The needed hockey division needs to be based off of youth program numbers, projections, and retention percentages. Hockey is a different animal, no matter what the high school attendence is, you cant just pull kids into joining the hockey team.
  9. https://kfgo.com/podcasts/news-views-with-joel-heitkamp/117905/former-bismarck-high-boys-hockey-coach-mike-peluso-i-want-to-see-it-get-better/
  10. bigger towns.. ala fargo... bismarck... running 9 10 11 year old travel teams or team is the worst way to develop too. 12 kids per year are basically picked to run all over the midwest to play a few games.. for what... to someday MAYBE get to play at a d3 school... NO. Stupid. Waste of money. Want to develop. focus on in town competition... practice 3 times per baseball game... same for hockey. Save the money. Let the kids play and grow and develop. This picking of 12 kids per year class out of 100,000 population cities is a sure way to never develop a serious program, spend a lot of money and drive hundreds of kids out of the sports.
  11. Actually the data supports playing a almost total cupcake schedule of sub 20 team. This equals a highe winning percentage that keeps high in pairwise due to that. This however ill equips a team to compete in yhe tourney against better teams. You can play a all top schedule and grind it out and make the tourney and be a serious contender every time... ala UND last 18 years. The BIGGEST risk is to schedule cupcakes and grind theough the conference because then one hiccup against such bottom feeder = golfing early.
  12. Our pairwise is calling on line 2 and has a bit of a different opinion.
  13. Nope. Minot is teetering on the brink always. The oil hub business is so fleeting and as more infrastructure is developed and consolidated out west less is needed in Minot. Minot without the base.... goodnight.... equivalent to Dickinson or jamestown. GF without the base, huge blow, but the University, better location on trade routes and in the farm rich valley put it in a better situation IMHO. Both are fanatically opposed to anything that intrudes on the GOBCs of the respective towns.
  14. I think we see both Nelson AND Oshie come home at some point... and yes the Wild will vastly overpay for both. Its the culture.
  15. Yes. Baseball is very much this way now, as well as basketball and many other sports. You just don't see it because our region is inhospitable to the year round participation. Southern baseball is absolutely year round in the same fashion as "AAA" hockey (hate that designation). The number of pitches thrown year round by early teens in these regions is scary.... but parents seeing 300 million dollars contracts for little Breydynn are just as fanatical as the hockey parents from Minnedakota. Any sport that has risen to a mid tier college status.....i.e. ...scholorships.... has resulted in parents... not kids... pushing year round specialization. Football "specialization" comes in the form of weight room time. Hockey is absolutely about skating. Kids that spend all summer playing tourneys, improve some, maybe. Kids that spend the summer on specialized skating camps and programs, grow leaps and bounds. These things can be intertwined with a summer baseball, lacrosse, golf season. USA Hockey preaches out both sides of the mouth on playing multiple sports but some work better with each other.
  16. Wooof..... thats kinda cringey to say the least. It would have been much more interesting to get a B1G or even an ASU in for a weekend. Given the trend in attendence, it could be even uglier for some of those games. Just another concerning aspect of the program as a whole to me.
  17. The travel would derail the growth of smaller schools hockey.
  18. I like the take that this is a move to clear salary to bring a Brock Nelson home in free agency this summer.
  19. yes, however you clearly are lacking understanding a major premise here. Bismarck did not need to take a One OR the other approach to this as they did. Both facilities would have far more benefited the city for a much longer period intonthe future. Bismarck has no and never will have a proffessional team. Past failures include the Wizards and soon to be defunct Bucks. Bobcats work kinda work at the VFW, Larks work at Municipal. The civic center was and is fine for conventions, a new north facility would have complimented and enhanced, not subtracted. As relates to HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY. the Bismarck corruption connection forced the civic center expansion after MULTIPLE city wide votes resoundly trounced it,... claimed expansion could host hockey tournaments. It can't. Also floated rumors bobcats would move to the civc. Also false. They then tried to use a new central ice arena concept included in the 5south fiasco to appease some concerns, touting major intra city games be played there. Also false As it sits bismarck ice interests was forced to scamble for ANY ice options available which resulted in one sheet added or nothing. Bismarck MUST have at least 2 more sheets now to accomodate the pushed additional boys program and girls program not to mention the possibility of jr gold teams or BAA teams to best serve the youth. So all this did have an effect on ND high school hockey...... which still needs 2 divisions.
  20. No, to build a newer additional facility on land on north end
  21. Free land for a new arena/convention/venue thing.... Also at time rumored to include a USHL team. Although that may have been a combination of a few rumors. the corruption connection instead threw every dollar at the civic center... as the focus of a huge urban hipster paradise development. That farce never happened.
  22. yep need two weekends of sweeps and to beat denver 1st round... even if it takes 3 games... puts us in the 9-10ish range. Still hope before the "MUST WIN OUT" label is thown out. although if we even drop or tie 1 vs cc or omaha ... well then its relegated to the mercy on the Frozen Faceoff winner bid.
  23. Only a vasy misunderstanding of how the pairwise system works would allow one to perceive tonights loss as a killer. It officially lowered the chances from slim to uufda but a split with a top 5 team was and is not the "killer". dalooth is good,......creepy, divey, cringy and kinda ugly but.. yeah thats a good hockey team. Splitsvilles vs the top teams is fine. Getting shithoused in the hotel lobby on top of parking garage to a D3 wannabe.... thats a killer.
  24. Observations: Central good. Scheels is damn near the perfect place for these games. That being said there is NO reason these crowds couldnt fit in some other arenas too. The new addition to Maysa would fit this tourney very adequately as well as offer additional rink to host the girls at the same time. Time this tourney visits western ND.
  25. dahlooth always seems to culture up a tremendous piece of !@#$
