  1. It is not Team ND vs Team SD Team SD is a sperate team that competes at the Tier 2 level. Tier 1 cashes checks from all over.
  2. I assure you the coaches drafting them into juniors or offering them college scholarships do not care if they are or if they are not.
  3. Pucks to net.. whatttaya know
  4. The entire season may be a success based solely on this comment. Well done.

  8. Hell of a snapshot Kodak. Your feelings aren't facts though.... they are erroneous opinions on what's happened in the past and applying it to situations that are not accurate today or in the future. I'd direct you to the same Live in 5 podcast, a few people maybe a bit more connected than feelings and a keyboard are telling you exactly how big of a deal it is,,,, and will continue to be.
  9. If you want to stay ignorant about it that's on you. I gave you the tools, educate yourself.

  11. but to summarize.... Everything you have said is in no way remotely the case and your assumptions seem to be based in pure fantasy and denial.
  12. Unfortunately, the best way to categorize this thinking is naive. But to hold this opinion still on the NILs importance to a program in reality is well past the "head in sand" or Neville Chamberlain territory. Its Kodak thinking digital pictures are a fad category
  13. You need to listen to this podcast... you can hear from people who know a hell of a lot more about it, but to summarize.... Everything you have said is in no way remotely the case and your assumptions seem to be based in pure fantasy and denial.
  14. Who has more alumni to fund the NILS..... the school with enrollment of 15k...... or 45k.........
  15. Experience with so much of this from back in my day and the choices we made over the last dozen years. "Recruiting" isn't a new thing in any stretch of the imagination, It's not a "these days" only problem. Trying to play basketball in a red river valley powerhouse program only to see opportunity dashed by the latest kid that "moved" into town is one perspective but moving into different communities and taking spots and playing time from others in another sport myself, has given me a bit of a view from both sides of the fence so to say. Both are not easy to navigate the social, internal, and external pressure for the mind of 14-year-old kid. I agree a family should do what's best for them WITHOUT any shame or guilt for sense of loyalty or feeling of owing any certain state or club organization. There are some difficult choices made and its not always ALL about a tax rate or a scholarship or making it pro. Thers so many more factors that play into every family's decision. Stay home and develop might be the best for some, actually probably most, but not every situation is all that great in "home organizations" either.... take a look at the dumpster fire of a North Dakota club running off experienced hockey people by board members who could barely skate and played 2 seconds of whale shyt high school hockey in their day telling those career hockey people how wrong they are... or school districts who don't support hockey and in fact regularly make it difficult to develop or compete, all in the name of opportunity granted for those who haven't strived to earn it. I didn't have one of these kids people would seek out to bring into the communities but at the same time was made well aware that if the family did make a move based on career opportunities he would have been welcomed with open arms and happily accepted into prominent roles for those coaches. In the end we always chose an aspect of family proximity was the best for our us, and he made the best of what was available to him here, that and an absolute ass-ton of hard work has opened a few doors. As many as if we'd left, probably not, maybe ?.... who knows but those are the questions that must be left in the past. Family, each individual family needs to make the decisions that are best for them with as much information as possible, NEVER being bullied into staying or leaving based on "owing" it to anybody but their own best interests.
  16. Oh my gawd this is the reals isn't it, that's the saddest low of lows.....so far. could not have been a fun conversation between promotions sales and the sponsors.
  17. ooopsie fat fingered that one! but don't count out the Rockets! hahahahhah Don't sleep on their tendy, they could very well be back if he stays and that's the type of kid that could steal a game on an overconfident team... ala Forsberg vs GFC this year. Bott/Rug will likely be back at state next year if they keep everyone there. BUT they'd maybe be hanging championship banners in the lumberdome in a Class A
  18. Fargo South/Shanley no longer exists. Fargo North/South stays in AA Shanley+ (as I'm calling it) will need to be in AA as well ...... In the next 5 years Minto North & Horace? are added after that its right back to 2 regions of AA. Even if those jr gold teams don't come up have a statewide A league. but in the reality of high school AD politics. zero of this is possible even if it is the right thing for the kids
  19. The TeamND / SF power games could be great entertainment. SF Power now has 5 kids D1 committed on that team for the weekend. A couple really strong ND kids as well that could move on. She really does a good job of at least showing value of the program by pushing kids to the next level, can't argue that.
  20. Nail on head on the competition and coaching as it relates to becoming good enough Back in the day I was solving the world's problems (2am lobby beers) with a couple MHD youth coaches and college coach and we talked about how much that matters, They talked about how Bismarck was going to benefit from some of the few second-generation kids from the coach dads that had actual real experience (college -d1-pro) .. they were right not only did their kids benefit but the culture competition and drive to compete drove those other first-generation kids to be better as well. .....then they broke out their coaching email list and showed the dozens and dozens of former college- d1-and career type pros they had in their youth program, some 3rd and 4th generation, it matters and just helps those programs so much. Grand Forks has that benefit as well. Almost all of those MN community programs have a proportional aspect of that generational experience that helps the youth. Nobody else in ND does, it might get there but its generations away, but 99% of the time the ignorance of useless experience gets in the way of what those programs needing (i.e. Bismarck running off a actual hockey guy with parents screaming about thats not how they did it in their day)
  21. Its the inborn respect and exposure that is available in the MSHSL as well. The Tourney is just the tip and as someone stated in the grand scheme very few players make it there for that spotlight but the overall exposure and RESPECT the MSHSL gets compared to the EDC or my gawd the WDA is not even close to measurable. The experience of playing in front of a Section 8 game crowd and that attention dwarfs anything the NDHSAA can offer. The only thing close to that are GFC/GFRR games. Nothing else comes close. ...... back in the day some cross town BHS/ Century games may have gotten that feel but these days.. its not there.
