Ohio state - Ohio isn’t a done deal. Ohio state has hockey, professional schools, etc., and North Dakota State does not. UND still has greater enrollment, Point is, UND has a chance, but there is a real threat that UND loses ground and NDSU jumps up enrollment if UND and its constituents don’t react accordingly.
-
That is the real threat
-
False, but certainly a protective narrative I’d expect from all ag college supporters.
-
They won this political round. UND needs to step up their game next round…. Big time
-
Don't make assumptions, Mr. Bison.
-
Would be nice, but doubt he does … more behind the scenes manipulation from Fargo I’d guess
-
This is the dark reality and is a fair (unfortunate) comparison.
-
Nice. Sound argument.
-
Aware. But that is still legislation that is manipulative and adversely affects North Dakota’s flagship university while justifying ag college fiscal irresponsibility. Most disagree, unless they’re supporters of Fargo, ag college, and/or agriculture, of which ND has a strong support group.
-
If they won’t, then und will have several dark years until the next cycle … or … longer. Need action not inaction here
-
Okay to be chill and concurrently acknowledge that ag college of North Dakota is suspiciously funding this
-
Our guys have a say… so need to keep speaking up. There are plenty of scandals aplenty with “farmers” and NDSU, that’s not new news, but it will be interesting to see … UND’s history would predict they be quiet here and fall further behind …. but they need to speak up as needed and get to work and combat this strategically
-
Size of community doesn’t correlate to FCS or FBS. Dollars do, however; private donors is one thing, but state dollars / tax dollars is a different story …
-
Yeah, that is a pretty ignorant statement. You should try a bit harder. But you graduated from NDSU I presume. I’d say do some research, but I doubt you were taught how. Pretty obvious which school provides professional degrees (JD, MD), aerospace science, etc. and which does not…both are fine institutions of higher education; but one is clearly head and shoulders above the other academically.
-
Can’t argue with that. Still playing catchup and now $10 million or so (actually more) behind that ag college … whether fraudulent or not … and it’s fraudulent we all know
-
Wrong. Awful move if you care about political transparency and UND being held in proper regard. There won’t be a rotation. NDSU won’t allow that … at least with UND. We’ve seen this before. It’s a repeat of 23 years ago. good riddance … NDSU will and should fall on their face this time
-
They will fully oppose any conference alignment that allows UND to partner with them. They will also of course be completely against out of conference FCS-FBS matchup with UND-NDSU. Ultimately this was the only move left for ag college and they did it. Now the monetary/political games either begin or UND non-hockey sports (namely football) fall behind again
-
History repeats itself. This is the only move the ag college could make with UND catching up to them … just like circa early 2000s when made escaped to Division I after UND finally got on top. UND will need to get real serious with their funding model and future moves now or this will be a repeat of 15 years ago … hockey can’t save the day by itself here
-
Nah …If there isn’t backdoor fraud, it could be and should be a lateral move with disaster potential… but UND can’t get complacent and needs to be proactive … on the field but more importantly with boosters and in legislation
-
Technically that’s inaccurate … but it looks better than actually reporting a declined figure. Again, the political games going on in the background here are immense … Grand Forks and UND would be wise to closely monitor and take action as necessary.
-
They’re not even reporting accurate enrollment numbers to begin with …
-
If there isn’t backdoor fraud, it could be and should be a lateral move with disaster potential
-
https://www.americanexperiment.org/everything-is-on-the-table-as-ndsu-faces-enrollment-decline/ legitimate concern … allowing the state of North Dakota to even consider supporting NDSU in light of the past few years would be inexcusable… if NDSU wants to privately fund this thing … try it … but the State of North Dakota better not even think about bailing out that pathetic institution at the expense of disregarding North Dakota’s flagship university there’s some real political unrest potential here
