  1. It was a very tough loss that turned the season around for UND … team didn’t look the same afterwards, at least offensively.
  2. Well deserved. Good riddance Tarleton … serves them right.
  3. Very good addition. Just the start …
  4. Wait until after the transfer portal period ends in late January to speculate … UND’s roster is nowhere near complete at this point. For college football in 2026, the NCAA has established a single, condensed transfer portal window from January 2 to January 16, 2026, eliminating the previous spring window for all players, including graduate transfers, to create more order, though activity is already happening behind the scenes. Teams can host recruits and have staff out on the road for traditional recruiting during this period as well. Key Details for the 2026 Window: Dates: January 2 – January 16, 2026. Unified Window: This is the only window for all players (FBS/FCS), removing the separate spring window. Graduate Transfers: No longer have year-round access; they must use the Jan. 2-16 window. Coaching Changes: A new 15-day clock for transfers starts only if a coaching hire occurs after January 2. Activity: Despite the official start, the portal is already busy with players entering and deals being struck before January 2. I would advise those who want UND football to compete for championships to contribute: 701 Award 1883 Sports Not a deep pocket thing at all. $25 or $50 goes a long way. Save on drinks at a bar or eating out at a restaurant just one time and redirect to UND football.
  5. Lots of bad advice out there now. Lots of “agents” with no credentials trying to make a quick dime off these kids. Which is why, unless you’re getting 7 figures from a power 4 school, you stay. Would be wise to return, as I’ve posted ad nauseam on here. Making some quick cash is nothing if your future (including pro prospects) isn’t protected. Don’t become a pawn. Stay with those who care and will develop you. UND’s football facilities and staff are now some of the best - if not the best - in all of FCS football, including ag college of Fargo. Take advantage of that. No unnecessary risk.
  6. Yeah, it’s not the same. Still the option to play 5 years at these “JUCOs” whereas actual JUCOs can’t offer that, but I see your point. I think it’s a bit dramatic.
  7. Based on this 80% (perhaps more) of division 1 schools sponsoring football are JUCOs….
  8. Don’t overlook UND football by not taking into account what the facilities and staff are now doing for these players. This isn’t the 1990s or even 2010s as far as UND football goes. Student-athletes can now be developed and treated here just as the FBS level (specifically G6) does. Transferring and going to 3rd or 4th on the depth chart for a P4 school or maybe a top 2 spot at another FCS school or G6 school does not protect them from injury and does not guarantee they “enhance their skill”. I agree injury is a risk, but that can occur anywhere; the additional risk with transfer is a being a pawn in a grand scheme that will chew them up and spit them out at the earliest opportunity. As said before, you may be skeptical that football student-athletes at UND can be developed into football professionals in Grand Forks, but times are changing. We’ll see. Football intellect is at UND. Facilities now are here as well. For years (and still to this day) people around UND and Grand Forks got excited thinking their 6-year-old could develop and play in the NHL. Hockey is life as such. That line of thinking with football in this area needs to grow here as well. It’s not just ag college of Fargo that can develop. UND will get it done too. I would recommend supporting UND football’s mission now rather than later.
  9. Agreed. Payback is a b*tch
  10. The down slide in 2025 for UND happened down in Vermillion. Prior to USD: 6-2 After USD game: 2-4 Tougher opponents, sure, but the performances also didn’t look the same.
  11. Yes, of course. Historically, although close, the odds are just as good playing professionally if you stay at UND as opposed to going to UND and then transferring. Now, with that said, we’re in uncharted waters, as you mention, both from the transfer portal/NIL perspective but also from UND’s ability to develop and prepare you for the pros standpoint. New facilities, new investment and emphasis, new staff, new goals… …but I do not understand for many they won’t believe until they see it. And for that, I get it. Remain skeptical, fine. It’s going to happen, and the student-athletes are better off staying here and being developed by those that recruited them then testing out the open market … it’s a cruel jungle out there. The small amount relatively speaking that might be gained by transferring is not necessarily worth it if it comes with significant risk. For the particular student-athletes mentioned in this thread, we don’t know the full story, namely staff input and family/location preferences.
  12. About the same, but technically more than 1. Although not lengthy stints like Golladay, as he was the exception, not the rule; pros to the NFL from UND over the past 20 years include: Matt Waletzko Chris Kuper Will Ratelle Greg Hardin
  13. One or both would be reasonable conclusions … The idea that the depth chart was stacked against him is a generic argument that I’m not buying. He was a true freshman, what would you expect? Of course there’s several ahead of him. Yeah, not buying that. Now getting closer to home I can buy.
  14. For the most part, I agree, but as we disputed earlier, there are some circumstances where new guys coming in deserve Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) compensation to allow for them (and their family) to experience UND football. In those select circumstances, NIL support upon transfer is acceptable (and absolutely necessary) in my opinion (and thankfully this staff’s opinion). Pushing The University of North Dakota football program to the next level requires some risk and sacrifice.
  15. No question that the majority of these guys who transfer end up in a worse situation.

Hockey is beyond underwhelming. The United States of America agrees. Football is king. USA! USA!

The coaching carousel is nuts these days in FBS college football, but this is a whole new level of crazy. Wow.
  18. I agree with this completely. No reason at all to panic. This is just the norm in college football right now, and most are replaceable.
  19. Farewell posts are just the thing to do. And also suggests that transferring is oftentimes just “the thing to do” and not something that involves a thoughtful process. So we shouldn’t overreact now either. Unfortunate (and ironic) that modern college football is more and more pressuring student-athletes to make decisions without thought behind it … In the future, we’ll realize the complete lack of rules was probably a bad idea, but if you’re focusing on dollars, then this is the world we live in and I suppose the correct way of growing the brand (but not necessarily the values the game is based on, however)…
  20. You’re joking right? That’s the only time ever for UND … literally 1 out of 1000

Crazy coaching carousel this year. Transfer portal apparently is for coaches too … Jimmy Rogers to Iowa State. Danny Freund apparently not going with him. And now this …
  22. Well, now that ag college of Fargo has been eliminated, I know the next program I want ousted … Geesh … unreal Not to mention all the “ass whoopin” comments I’ve seen from their fan base …
  23. Nah… these guys are all replaceable. Remember, a year ago at this time, everyone was hoping UND would just go .500. We’re fine. The foundation is being built. If these guys are about themselves, and not the process and the brotherhood, then let them leave. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
  24. Quick dollars versus playing time and getting the opportunity to play at the next level… There’s no question that staying at UND for most players actually increases their likelihood of being drafted, despite what you might think. Having to move to a new state, new program, new locker room, new staff, all for money, diminishes your likelihood of making it to the next level. Sure you’ll play against a higher level of competition, but if you don’t succeed given all the extra stressors you’ve put on yourself with moving, then it was all for not. To me it’s a no brainer that the successful players stay at UND, not only because fans want them to, but because it is better for the players themselves. Even if the kid makes $100k, or even $500k, that pales in comparison to being on an NFL or CFL (particularly NFL) roster for 1-2 years … For some, especially those who get 7 figures, I get it; but for most this is a shot in the dark that will bite them. Stay at UND. Get developed. Don’t be bought.
  25. Would love to have him one more year at UND. Good luck to him, but I believe he’s making a mistake. Path is open for Deng Deng now and several other receivers (not currently on the roster) who want to make plays. Need 2-3 big time new receivers, a running back, and another quarterback… Transfer portal here we come …
