Probably more appropriate in this thread.

Of course. Everyone is.

UND men’s basketball is in a tough situation. Facilities and dollars for staff (and players now with NIL) just aren’t there for this to be an attractive job. With that said, you still need to look at whether or not you can improve coaching to better compensate for the deficiencies, some of which you can’t control (e.g., location). I think it is time to part ways with Sather, especially since UND will likely be parting ways (unintentionally) with Eaglestaff also. Time to see what a new coach can do for UND MBB. Now, will UND leadership actually do their job and make the move? Probably not - I have little faith, despite how well the transition to Coach Schmidt for football has gone thus far.

All eyes on ya and… this? what the hell UND basketball typical crap

c^3 =culture creates championships Hawk time

Disagree. NDSU and SDSU at home to end the season is excellent. Going to be a fun time bringing fb championships back to the northernmost (better) end of I29.
-
UND will win playoff games in 2025 (this year). Book it.
-
Wow. Dangerous logic here folks.

The “general fan” in Grand Forks is a poor abused one, whose soul has recently been crushed and countlessly conditioned to believe UND is inferior to NDSU and other regional DI institutions. The “general fan” for UND currently is in need of serious rehabilitation, and for football, that process has gone wonderfully thus far. There’s no question basketball needs the same treatment. The standard of excellence for UND athletics needs to be raised, and hearing defense of the status quo over and over again is tiring and not helpful, but there are factors at play not mentioned here that need to be considered, also.

Being aware of the landscape is important, and decisions can be and should be partially influenced by the opposition, but I suppose I agree with you that opposing fan bases shouldn’t directly be influencers.
-
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Ignorance is bliss, which is especially true with the pseudo-logic being produced on this subject. I don’t doubt Sather stays. There’s a lot of contentment around UND athletics. We’ll see how the conference tournament goes, but there’s no question his overall record at UND is not acceptable (or at least should be unacceptable). With that all said, UND MBB is up against it on numerous fronts, not just coaching. Think facilities and funding … have to be able to offset the geographical disadvantages. What UND AD has done for football in facilities is out of this world … basketball is in need of the same thing sometime in the next 5-10 years.

Beat the ag house down south Go Hawks
-
UND goes 12-0 and gets the #1 seed in the playoffs UND by a million over school down south Gonna be fun

Honestly, not even sure “huge” does justice in just how important the new facilities and associated improvements have been and will be for UND football. The increased investment by the UND athletic department (and collective) - and the new coaching staff - just adds to it … Big things coming …
-
Pretty darn exciting. New facilities already paying off. Excited to see what the new facilities do for football, cross country, and track & field also …

Why not when more of it will stick than ever before?

I’m all for positivity and enthusiasm at this critical period of time in UND Football history! You’re either part of the solution or the problem. Let’s win championships!
-
Times are changing; there’s a first time for everything. You’re either for it or against it (or indifferent which is the worst). Again, attitude matters - what will it be? As of now, you’re sounding apathetic - what will it take for you to join the club?
-
Amen. There’s a current mindset and expectation problem, for sure, but there’s also a solution in sight. Keep fighting and working for it and the solution will become reality, perhaps sooner than people think.
-
Perhaps, but seems a bit pessimistic. Winning solves everything. Pull a head to head win off or two against the school down south, and couple that with improved NIL collective dollars and facilities, and who knows what could happen. Why the f*ck can’t it be us? Some South Dakota State fans were fairly pessimistic back in circa 2014-2015 but the overall mission pushed forward and then look what happened to their program …
-
@geaux_sioux is right. You’re mistaken. Attitude is incredibly important. Expectations matter, even down to the individual supporter level, especially in this day and age of college football. FCS football can be quickly influenced by the followers given the current landscape and size of these programs. Do we (that’s right, we, even the fans on this forum) want UND to improve or be maintained? Improvement requires a positive attitude and buy-in. Do your part. Attend games, buy tickets, contribute to the collective, and most importantly, start expecting UND football to become the best in the FCS. Re-ignite rivalries and competition and do not be complacent with the status quo. Mind over matter. Get it done.

Agreed. I’m confident Schmidty can relate to 17 yo kids 100x better than Bubba could. Schmidty will be - and perhaps based on transfers already is - a better recruiter than Bubba. Only time will tell.
-
Nope. All weight rooms aren’t really the same. Being in one college weight room doesn’t mean you’ve been in all. Just look at where UND is now and where they were just a few years ago.
-
Not really … all you have to do is look at UND’s former and now new locker room and compare and contrast the two. UND has the largest locker room in the Dakotas, but more importantly, and perhaps to your point, the overall facility put together is the real game changer. Rarely ever have to step outside … GAME-CHANGER!

Eric Schmidt named head coach of North Dakota football

A+++ dude… obviously hope in the worst way he succeeds big time, in unprecedented ways. Now just need the institution and supporters to support him and the fb program in the way it deserves … cfb is king
