  1. I realize that. I'd work. It would be nice if volunteers got a pass to a game or two. Watch from the club level or just find an empty seat. Hopefully they get something for giving up their time to make a big money making event like this go smoothly. P.S. I realize that getting something to volunteer would mean it's not volunteering.
  2. I thought it was the nose, but it was certainly bloody. I remember how patient commie was while he unstrapped the wisco players helmet. Didn't even bother swinging until he had the helmet off.
  3. I think I'll be on break from teaching and I want to go, but the cost is high and it is a lot of games. I guess I'm hoping to pick up some single game as it gets closer. I wouldn't mind volunteering if it meant I could watch some of the games. Anyone know who is handling volunteers?

No. See the second half of UND's season last year. Not just breaks from refs, but also no lucky bounces.
  5. After he left, he said he would've liked to stay. The man child was just to physical for college hockey. At least for the refs. And for the opposing players. Isn't that fighting suspension rule called the Mike Commodore rule? Wasn't it Minny that pushed that one through when they found out commie was coming here? Or have I just been hallucinating again.
  6. Next he'll write a letter complaining about the hitting on the ice!
  7. At a viking game I witnessed a ten year old girl wearing a packers coat walk down the stairs and the sections around started chanted "Packers Suck." I felt bad, but what were her parents thinking? The vikes weren't even playing the packers.
  8. I haven't had the priviledge of seeing the signs except for the picture in the Herald. The Herald wouldn't print a "bad" sign, unless they could get the nickname removed. Same with the cameramen at the game. Even if they are filming a bad sign, the producer wouldn't let it on the air. And sure one could pop up on air by accident, but this happens everywhere. They aired a guy picking his nose last year! I do believe they need to be screened and by THE SAME PERSON. One other thing to think of: Holding up signs blocks peoples' views. It sounds like most are smaller and are placed against the glass, but be careful who you hand them out to to hold up during the game. It could only take one fan to complain and wreck this fun we are having.
  9. The cheer team and danceline are a part of the athletic department. Nothing to do with REA.
  10. Don't get me wrong redwing77. I'm for the tryouts. I was just listing some things the band goes through. The trips are expensive even though we are limited to 25 for hockey. You want the band at all the tourneys. Otherwise, it just doesn't feel right. There is always a team that doesn't bring a band and the atmosphere seems to be lacking when the bands don't duel. There isn't much (if any) music played by the tourney arenas. Doesn't matter what band it is, all the expenses come from the same account. The shirts for hockey don't cost much. I always wanted jerseys, but you can't count on everyone to buy one. There are a lot of people and businesses that have donated vehicles and money to the band and we have always been thankful for that.
  11. Didn't somebody for REA or UND state that all conference games would be in the big arena next year? Where did I read that....?
  12. What is the REA afraid of? That some 8 year old will read the sign and not understand it?
  13. Let me state again that I was in the band the last five years. Even in 98-99 with you Redwing77. Whoever you are. When I was a kid the band was it. They were the driving force at the games. Man the crowd would go nuts with a minute to go in a sweep and they band started playing "na-na-na-na, hey hey goodbye." I believe it is Land of a Thousand Dances. Then all of a sudden the band was cut. The music dept. scraped together its own money to fun the band again in 98-99 (there was a small hockey pep band before this). Because REA was used to playing music, we had to fight to play even then. The band was in the hole something insane like $30,000 because they had to buy uniforms and instruments. That money is slowly being raised, but our sports teams got good really fast. All of sudden the athletic dept and alumni wanted the band to travel but wouldn't fund any of it. Wait, I think the alumni association might have picked up a trip or two. There are very few marching/pep bands in this nation that have to raise their own money. DI bands are flown around the country with the teams. For FB, the band was riding a bus to Florence and back for 52 hours. We were in Florence less than that. Plus we normally stay at places that don't even have working TVs. The sound system was bought because the band used to be so small. Now the arena is so large. As a trombone player, I never used the mike. Hated them. The drums aren't miked either, but they come through on it. I agree that hockey band should be tryouts, but it's a big commitment to make to play an entire schedule. The bball band is a 25 member more jazzy band. I wish the band played more traditional songs. We do play "beer barrell polka," but fans don't know the words. Even the band complains about who sucks. I don't have a problem with the complaining, but you shouldn't criticize an entire entity. Unless it's the Gophers we rarely say an entire team sucked. Normally someone played well. I always hoped we could get some cheers that the band lead ala Wisconsin or any other big time band. If you hate the band so much, why don't you help come up with cheers and songs for them? They aren't going away anytime soon. Go to Marrypukey and the band is the cheering section. I've always hated the drums with the sieve cheer. Wisconsin's sieve/school song is unreal. The whole crowd does it. We are all students and fans that want what's best for the team. So lets make it better. Maybe someone needs to run to the old fogey section and tell them when to stand up and cheer. Oh, and the beer song gets old.
  14. As I said earlier I haven't seen much of the team, but I think the 2001 offense was more explosive. They would build leads so fast that they didn't have to do anything else. Kelby is one of the best all around athletes I've ever seen. Too bad for him last year. Imagine if he was able to medical red shirt and got to play this year. No offense to Bow because he's doing fine, but he has struggled at times this year. I'm really curious to see how this team comes out to begin with. We did just have a week off.
  15. Just found on the NCAA site that all games must start between noon and one. Thanks, cheeringcali.
  16. I wouldn't mind seeing FSNN pick it up so I could watch on the dish. Seems like datafix is a waste of money. However, I really doubt FSNN would pick it up. They don't care that much about DII FB. They are one of the worst FSN stations in the nation. I can't even find an email for them so I can complain.
  17. With the little bit I've seen and heard on the radio, I just don't think the Sioux have what it takes to win it all. The defense isn't dominating, the offense comes and goes, and Glas isn't Paterka. Then again, the Al came in handy in 2001, and we are there again this year. Also, the playoffs are about grit and winning the close ones. We certainly have this. I like that we play Pitt St. to begin with. Our 3-4 defense was put in to strickly stop all the option offenses that teams used to run. I expect Pitt to throw more than usual, since we do seem to be lacking in the pass coverage area. It's the playoffs and anything can happen. We've had a week off, and I hope we are ready. Go Sioux!
  18. What killed NDSU is losing two games to D2 and one to D1AA.

I think this should have been expected of the Sioux. They are playing a very different team from last weekend. DB has always been great at motivating. I have faith.
