I like how FSN skipped showing a replay of the last penalty on Wisc. Mn has had 3 PP with 2 goals, while wisco has had one PP.

Finally back in Cali after 6 weeks in GF. 10:40 at night and it is 50 here. Feels like 50 as well. GF is at -37 and feels like -58. I wore shorts to work today and everyone thought I was on drugs. Then they remembered I'm from ND. Most wear sweatshirts even though it was mid 60s today. I'll take the cold over the heat of summer that they get here.

I can't agree on this. Just because NDSU is in a higher divsion won't mean much, because the U.S. doesn't care about ND anyways. So the average fan won't know one school from the other. The only reason people will know NDSU (but not North Dakota State University) is from the Mt. Dew caps during March Madness with the likes of Buffalo and Mid Atlantic States International of the Ocean. Or did they quit that last year? Anyways, I don't see NDSU getting TV exposure during bball unless they become the next Gonzaga (maybe some early season beatings at the hands of Gonzaga). National TV for FB won't matter either, since DI-A doesn't care about DI-AA unless they get to whoop them. Keep in mind that UND gets some exposure in the north and east DI market due to hockey.

It's crazy that we are as good on PK as we are with all the 5x3's we get ourselves into. Isn't it like 8 straight games now, with 4 of those seeing us on the short end of two 5x3's?

So CC drops another one. Isn't that 7 straight WCHA losses? That will drop some PWR rankings for some teams if UW wins another one. Denver gets by UAA in overtime. I do not want to be the team that faces UAA in the tourneys. Especially if the refs are "letting them play." Denver is an enigma. UMDogz, was the UMD-MTU game close? I know it was 3-1. Missed your recap. Quit going to games! And SCSU pulls out the barn burner 8-5 over Mankato. I've got nothing to add on that one.

It could've been worse for us as well. Vanek blew a golden opportunity on an early PP, and Brandt made some other big saves. One other thing impressive on Brandt was how well he played pucks off of the boards. He knew that they tend to come flying back out front and covered them. Last night it also seemed like we went for the "home run" a lot more often than usual. I guess this would be to combat the offensive defensemen of the Gophers. It also seemed like the puck was finding it's way onto Gopher sticks for most of the game. I can't believe how many bouncing cross ice passes hopped over Sioux sticks, but landed on theirs. Our forecheckers did a great job on knocking down passes in the neutral zone. It always amazes me when a hockey player can pick a puck out of mid-air.

Maybe the PP goals for the Sioux shouldn't surprise us. I have to give Woog/whoever his stat boy is credit for displaying how good the Sioux PP has been. During pregame, they showed that the Sioux PP the last 4 or 6 games is around 30%. It was actually better than the Gophers. The Gophers PK the last like 8 games hadn't given up a goal in 22 chances.

Add a few dozen pipe shots and you have the Sioux from last season.

I was very impressed with Brandt last night. I think it was probably the best game he's played. He challenged every shooter and even when he went down and stacked the pads, he was looking at the puck. He seemed to have made some sensational saves, but when you got a look at the replay he was in perfect position and waiting for the puck. He nearly stopped both goals. He struggled at times to cover the puck, and might have got chippy (why was he ticked with Potulny?), but didn't let any of it take him off his game. I think he earned the starting job for tonight, but I'm looking forward to seeing how Parise does.

He did fine offensively, but it's the other crap with Vanek. Like I alluded to earlier, there is no questioning his offensive ability, just his mind. Like when he took his sweet time to shoot on the PP until Brandt got back in position.

If he was diving in the third it wasn't on TV. I've seen plenty of UND games and never known Bo to dive/embellish. Though I don't look for it, and I think most of the time he falls on his own. Because a player dives is no reason not to call a spear. Give him a diving penalty if that's the case. Diving is the one thing wrecking hockey at all levels. What irks so many UND fans is that Parise will skate through it and fall here or there and get right back up. Whereas other teams (not saying the Sioux don't do it) players will fall at the touch of a stick and not get up.

The penalties we took, we deserved with maybe the expception of Greene in the end. Never saw a replay of that one, but a ballsy call by an AR when the other team is down by one goal. The two calls that really bugged me were the no call Taylor spear and the no call Gopher stick slash after Genoway was called for one just three minutes before. I also think that Prpichs high stick (which lead to the 5x3) could have used a dive call as well. I do need to see some replays on that however.

I especially liked Thomas "the mouth" Vanek's one man ice folly show when Schneider had had grabbed him with one hand in the first. Too bad Schneider is too much of an assest to us, otherwise it would have been fun to see him take on Jake "the bully" Taylor. I have to agree with TH. When Vanek chooses to play he is one of the best, but if I was Buffalo I'd be nervous. Vanek doesn't play a full game, mouths off too much, and is a cheap shot artist. He takes way too many stupid penalties and when fighting is allowed (ie. the NHL) he'll get wiped up and down the ice.

Any idea on the fourth line for tonight? Did Hale make the trip?

PA and Dubay also talked about someone emailing them from GF (and supposedly they confirmed it) saying that Bochenski said something about the Gophers sucking and dropped an S bomb. Is this a hoax, or did Bo actually say some bulletin board material on the news?

Odd, because I don't live in North Dakota. Is that funny too? In fact, right now I'm sitting at a computer in MINNESOTA. WAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Now that's funny. Get a life and leave Broten alone. What did he ever do that was so bad as to get you as a fan?
