  1. I think him SETTING the deadline was to get them talking, but they were talking up until he wouldn't budge from 42.5 mill.
  2. I think that should be obvious.
  3. Odd that I get this from ESPN. Haven't seen anything on here. Harmeson named interim AD.
  4. I guess Parise is starting.
  5. Sounds like there is now a player revolt. It doesn't sound like the cap is the big deal, but that they didn't accept it a long time ago. Also some owners dealing on the side as well. It's coming out of Canada that some backdoor dealing is being done. I think it's safe to say that both leaders will not survive this. Apparently Bettman didn't answer his phone for 15 hours. It's almost like he wants hockey to fail. I'm listening to "Hacksaw" on So. Cal radio. This guy likes hockey and talks about hockey. Therefore, I like him If you want to listen, it's at XTRA 570.
  6. Since we're on the topic of ripping off, wouldn't you think that Duluth would want to get their own colors. Especially when they have that identity crisis and need to change their name to "THE" university of Minnesota Duluth. I know UMC is also Maroon and Gold. Was this a Minnesota institution thing that they had to match the U of M?
  7. A few years ago, the '80s jersey got voted as the best college hockey uniform of all time. I can't remember if it was for the WCHA 50th anniversery or an NCAA poll. Everything is a rip off now-a-days. Isn't the Gophers 9th alternate jersey that they introduced this year very similar to Wisconsin? I really like MTU's road uni this year.
  8. I believe the NBA contract runs out after this season. Not sounding so good for them either, but if they were smart they'd look at the NHL and what a mess it's become. The NBA may have survived the strike/lockout, but their fan base is dwindling as well due to many of the same problems as the NHL as far as the game goes. I miss being able to watch hockey.
  9. The day schools actually take a stance by not playing teams whose names they don't like will be the day things change. For instance Wisconsin and I believe Minnesota say they won't play a team with a Native American name. This excludes conferences of course. But let's see Wisconsin put that on the line for say the Sugar Bowl against Florida St. Is their ideal worth 13 million? Or Minnesota to do the same against us in the Frozen Four. Not as much money, but it's a national championship and not a conference game. A lot of other schools and organizations can talk big, but it doesn't mean squat. Put your money where your mouth is. It's like someone mentioned earlier. The lawsuits alone could cripple the NC$$, and I don't think they like losing money.
  10. They had more articles on-line, just because they pull it from Knight-Ridder.
  11. I'd been told they kept them for counting purposes.
  12. Is any high school games going on there?

    NCC expansion

MTU may play those teams more often due to proximity, but we necessarily wouldn't play a team like NMU. Though I'm sure some NCC schools would play them more often. I can't think of the when the last time a WCHA team played NMU was.

    NCC expansion

Actually, hockey conferences are completely seperate. MTU is already in the WCHA with us. NMU used to be, but now is in the CCHA with the likes of Michigan. I believe MTU had a hiatus over to the CCHA for a few years as well. Correct me if I'm wrong with that last statement.
  15. Just to let folks know, if you get CSTV they have their Retrovision show. They show hockey games quite often on it. Last night was DU-UW from '98.
  16. I'm sure it was partly that, but it was also hosted by the Alaska Schools. Basically, their only chance to ever host.
  17. This week it has come out that Ford Field in Detroit will try and host the 2011 Frozen Four. Then watching the UW-DU game, they mentioned that Lambaeu(sp) may be hosting the Hall of Fame game next year featuring Wisconsin. Should these events happen? It's been done twice to my knowledge and I suppose both were successful with lots of fans. Was it a good atmosphere though? The fans are a long ways away on a football field and hockey is more of an intimate game as trying to follow the puck on TV proves. It just seems like a gimmick to me and I can't imagine paying good money to sit at the top of a football stadium trying to watch hockey.
  18. It's looking more and more like Minnesota won't have the #1 seed. Though they'd still get to play at home for the NCAAs.
  19. I agree on this choice and add Greg Johnson. Imagine Greg playing on some of the championship teams. Would've been a Circus all over again.
  20. I gotta go with Digs. Not only did I graduate with the guy from high school, but he actually spent money at the University on classes for what? Six and a half years! And he isn't a doctor. That's dedication to watch Sioux hockey. And FB. Plus forecheck is a little to buddy buddy with other programs. She could be a spy.
  21. I'm guessing/hoping it'll be on the Sportpack for DirecTV. They seem to have everything else on there.
  22. I can't figure out why forecheck just doesn't apply for the AD job at Canisius.
  23. What about ESPN's new college channel? They claim they are airing hockey in March. Doesn't ESPN technically own the rights to the NCAA's and sells the regionals to other networks like FSN?
  24. You are not alone. The first thing I do everyday when I get home from work is check this board. When I go on vacation, I need to find a computer to check this board. Does that make me an addict? Thanks to everyone for the hard work they put into running this board. And thanks to the posters for feeding my addiction.

    NCC expansion

Didn't the NCC already have some sort of deal with these team for non-conference games anyways? Or was it just the likes of UND, Omaha and whoever else?
