Actually, I believe the big market teams are some of the only ones that make money. Mainly due to their TV contracts. I'm talking about Philly and NYR. Read about it again in another column today on SI.com. How cool would this be: Let's say they work things out. Some writers/insiders have suggested that they have a 30 team playoff. EDIT: I should note that big market teams do tend to spend more money on players.

I was at that one. Ballard was literally undressing Lundblllllllom. However, the crap Hauser pulled during that series was way worse. The odd thing was that Hauser would swing his stick at a Sioux player and the Gopher fans wanted a penalty on said Sioux player.

I'm looking at the "talks" in a positive way. They didn't invite and aren't allowing the two men that won't talk to each other or do anything. The scary thing is that it is yet again the players asking to talk. Though, that could be a good thing. Maybe they'll cave. Also, some stuff I've been reading has said the bigger market NHL teams are starting to grumble because they are losing so much revenue. Both sides need to move more towards the middle. The men's game is where the money is. Anything on the horizon?

FargoBison: All Duke has going for it is basketball. As the new Ralph was being built and I was sitting in a classroom, we were given a list of the NCAA top merchandise sellers. UND was in the top 75 out of EVERY NCAA institution. Might have even been top 50. Anyways, what I remember is that UND was ranked ahead of Duke. To Duke's credit, they are a smaller private (Jesuit I think) school and rely heavily on non-graduates. But obviously being on ABC/CBS doesn't mean you'll do better in merchandising. You'll be more recognizable, but at the same time more people just seem to hate you for that.

Is Hakstol fooling himself and the team into believing they could finish top three? Now that they need help, I'd rather they concentrated on home ice and getting into the NCAAs. If this team is still shooting for a top three and doesn't make it, what does that do to their confidence for the playoffs? Though, I doubt their confidence is too high anyways.
