The South Dakota Board of Regents have filed a complaint against the NCAA on behalf of USD and SDSU with regards to the non Power 4 share of the proposed House settlement.

The above article was written by Tanner Castora and needs to be taken with a grain of salt. He used to work as a sports reporter for KELO TV, a Sioux Falls station, and was a decent at his job, but in my red colored glasses view was too much of a SDSU fan boy. I saw several pictures on social media of him hanging out with a lot of the SDSU FB team. He was fired by KELO right before the FCS championship game in January, 2023, with no explanation ever disclosed to the public. My speculation was that he crossed the line between being a reporter and a fan boy.

Some random observations of the UND game Sunday night from my USD fan view point. UND once again had no pep band at the tournament. The UND cheer squad looked like a second class operation, with few members and leading the team onto the floor with a UND flag about the size you would see in a freshman dorm room. Even prior members like the Leathernecks, IUPUI & IPFW had much better representation in these areas in their time in the Summit, despite being much farther from Sioux Falls than Grand Forks is. Granted, none of these items directly affect the game, but it sure screams that UND administration doesn't put much emphasis on the tournament. That being said, UND did have a decent sized crowd at the game last night. Hopefully the UND athletic department puts more emphasis on the whole Summit League Tournament experience in future years. Not only will it make it more enjoyable for UND fans but it will help improve the overall tournament atmosphere for all it attendance.

Not likely to happen and assuming the Tommies beat Denver, but if UND & NDSU both lose this Saturday they will match up in the 4-5 game at the SLT.

Not sure if that is true. Ties are broken from the top down. UND & NDSU both win, UMKC beats USD & Denver beats Omaha, UND would be the 2 seed. UND & NDSU would both be 3-1 against USD & Denver (the 2 teams tied for 4th), 1-1 against ORU (the 6th place team), so it comes down to the record against Omaha (the 7th place team) and UND swept Omaha & NDSU split with Omaha.

Why would he leave? $$$$$$$$ I have heard that Minnesota is the one job he covets. He obviously recruits the state of Minnesota pretty hard. Bigger question is would the Gophers hire a male head coach for WBB?

UND absolutely should have been hosting this coming Saturday. Perhaps the committee decided they could afford to gift the home game to Weber State since they covered the loss of dollars by putting the Griz in the playoffs (over a more deserving Youngstown St) and giving them a home game to collect the Montana dollars. With regards to Nichols State getting to host and putting the visiting team in a tent, the same thing happened to USD when they played at Nichols St in the first round of the playoffs in 2017.

Murray, UTA & UMKC were the 3 schools mentioned prior to Loyola leaving the MVC for the A10. Now that Loyola has left, I believe UIC is #1 on the list of replacements. If UIC departs the Horizon League, it leaves Milwaukee & Green Bay on an island from the rest of the Horizon and as potential additions to the Summit.

Should be an interesting game. With UND > SIU > NDSU and also UND > SDSU, the winner of the game can claim the title as best team in the Dakota's. (at least temporarily) Not ideal for the Yotes playing back to back road games on a short-week.

Game was Thursday night, but it appears that it is archived on the same site as the above link. Bruns' Dakota Valley team was ranked #1 in Class A in SD coming into the game, but was upset by a real good Sioux Falls Christian team by the score of 92-72. Bruns put up 44 points, including 7 3-pointers.
