I took a 1 year hiatus from attending the UND at DU series last season (and it turned out to be a wise decision) but I plan on resuming one of my favorite road series. Something about Maggot Arena when UND comes to town, it’s electric. DU fans are kinda annoyed that the UND series will happen while the students are on break. Can sell more seats now to UND fans.

Anyone got any UND hockey road trips planned for this upcoming season? -My wife and I are kicking around the idea of going to Boston for the BU series and perhaps the CC road series at Mariucci and of course, the UND series at CC and DU.

I’d be interested to hear more from the conference as to why not attempt to go for an even number of teams (10) for the conference. I’m also curious how post season format will look like with 9 teams.

I can’t answer your question but what I can say is, Schlossman was on a recent podcast on College Hockey Today and he said this upcoming season, it’s not going to be a season where Michigan’s name is in lights with regards to all the high flying 1st rounders but rather Boston College. I didn’t watch the draft but I think Bc landed some pretty high draft picks.

Heard him at one point delight in the fact that UND was sitting in seventh place. Not sure what relevance those comments had to do with anything at that moment.

First thought I had when he name dropped MSU and UND was, I can easily think of a handful of other teams who’ve been equally “aggressive” (aka, active) in the portal. Bentley, Northeastern, Miami, UMass Lowell, and probably many others. So why single out MSU and UND?

CC is turning the corner. Mayotte had done a lot already with Haviland’s kids. They did advance to the championship game of the Frozen Faceoff and have shown a compete level they didn’t under the previous leadership. I don’t see CC going anywhere, not to mention, DU would not support getting rid of them either.

Even by AF’s own admission, I bet they wouldn’t want to join the NCHC. Between their tough academic standards and the fact that they can only recruit Americans, I think they’re happy in Atlantic hockey where, for the most part, they’ve been competitive.

This talk of waiving Miami’s exit fee because it’s “the right thing to do” seems a bit naive to me. Wouldn’t that set a bad precedent???

To me, I feel like ASU wouldn’t stay in the NCHC long term anyway. That they’d just use us as a stepping stone.

I’ll never forget that huge goal he scored for us in Duluth a few seasons ago. He looked so damn happy, you could see his smile from ear to ear. And if I recall, that may have been either the game tying or game winning goal, on the road no less. I love Albrecht’s enthusiasm and team first mentality.

The optics of this type of situation doesn’t look good. Motzko did the same exact thing when he left St. Cloud for Minnesota. I’m sure it isn’t the first or last time something like this happens to a program. “Thank you for letting me serve as your school’s head coach, I’ll be forever grateful….now let me poach as many good current and prospective players from you as I possibly can.”

Good points. Reminded me of the Vegas game where after we built the 2-0 lead, we took the foot off the gas a bit until there were only a couple minutes left in the game and we desperately needed a goal.

As you can see, they’ve sold a few burritos over the years…
