Reading that we landed Grimaldi made my day but hearing that he chose UND over Denver REALLY made my day.

I had thought the Sioux were traveling to play at Miami of Ohio next season??? Was I wrong?
-
Sorry, I meant Nokota....Not, Nakota.
-
I too am warming up to the Nakotas nickname, or some variation of it (i.e., Fighting Nakotas, Wild Nakotas, etc.). Question, perhaps the beautiful feathers from the the Sioux indian head logo could be incorporated into the new horse imagery? Would that be deemed as hostile and offensive or would it be considered a subtle tribute? I kinda think it would be a nice touch. Please no Blizzard, Storm, Flickertails, Prairie Roses!!! As stated before, let's hope the powers-that-be will learn from the mistakes made by schools who went through this (namely, Marquette) and not make the same ones they did.
-
I just hope that during the transition, the University can learn from the mistakes made by other schools who went through this process, namely Marquette. I believe that since the mid-nineties when they changed their nickname and mascot, they have had an on-going identity crisis. I'm fearful that the PC crowd (anti-Sioux nickname crowd) will have a major voice in the decision on the new name and will come up with something very unoriginal (Tigers, Huskies, Storm, Blizzard, etc.). Let's hope that the powers-that-be, take enough time to thoughtfully retire the Sioux nickname as well as come up with a logical, reasoned search process for the new nickname and logo. Regardless, I'll still bleed green and white and cheer for the UND athletics team as I'm sure everyone else on this message board will.

Question: I was listening to Gwozdecky this morning on the pre-game show on The Fan and he indicated that Anthony Miani got hurt last night and is questionable for the rest of their season. Does anyone know what happened? They never really said what the injury was or how it happened.

I was at both games, last night, we sat right behind the CC bench. After Frattin's goal, he skated by Sweatt and patted him on his behind. Then, after high-fiving the Sioux players on the bench and skating towards Eidsness to high-five him, he patted another CC player on the back. After that, CC Coach Scott Owens was irate and jawing at the Refs. If anyone else saw this, can you confirm that the reason why Owens was so angry was because of Frattin's behavior or was it because of something else? -I thought it was kinda funny but made me nervous because I was afraid it might wake a sleeping giant and piss off CC to the point where they might rise to the occasion.

Beautiful two-on-one goal for Harvard vs. Minnesota. 1-1 late in the 2nd period.
-
Channel 403 (NHL Network) on Dish Network.
-
The CC/DU game is on Fox Rocky Mountain. 2-2 after the first period. Wierchosh left the game with a leg injury. Clean hit on him, he had his head down and received a hip check.

14-7 at halftime?
-
I could've sworn they said that the football game was going to be on FCS today.

Splitting hairs, it may as well be downtown as the traffic sucked. Plan on leaving early enough to allow for traffic. Also, if you get a chance, visit Northeastern's arena-it's claim to fame is that Matthews Arena is the oldest arena in the world. They just spent several million dollars refurbishing it with nice seats, a big video scoreboard, and new concessions. I got to see the Sioux play NU a few years back and it was a lot of fun! The NU student section is directly above the visiting goalie for 2 periods and they're funny! Lot's of funny cheers!

Beautiful arena (not as nice as the Ralph but one of the better arenas in college hockey). It's downtown so your best bet is to take the train down to BU as traffic down there is a nightmare-I went last year when BU played UMass Lowell. Great sightlines, well-lit, and the concourse has some really nice historical stuff on BU hockey and the numerous players that they have had in the Olympics over the years. They sell some cool BU stuff as well. I buy at least one team puck at every arena I visit for a game. I picked up a couple of really cool ones there last year.

Just finished watched the Texas Tech game. Taylor Potts left the game in the second quarter with a concussion. The backup QB came in and had a great game for Tech; he threw for 6 touch down passes.

I would ask that if you decide to email Gwozdecky, that you keep it clean and professional. We're more likely able to earn his respect if we keep our comments above board. I don't want him confirming Ms. Rizzo's mis-characterization of Sioux fans. Are there some bad apples among Sioux fans? Sure. But there are these types among DU fans as well. That doesn't mean we use a broad brush to characterize ALL DU fans as bad, nasty people.
-
I love the Rockies but I dread seeing Rizzo on the tv. She's totally useless as a commentator. They only have her on there to give the male viewers a nice show of her chest...(which is pretty darn nice I must admit).
-
Alana does the color commentary down on the field for Rockies baseball so George gave a personal shout out to her after saying that no professional should have to endure what she endured up in North Dakota. He then likened Sioux fans to Philadelphia fans and said that we're hard not only on visiting teams but on officials as well. I found that rich considering he was the guy who walked out onto the ice in protest of what he felt was a non-call. Anyway, I hate DU and seeing that windbag on t.v. while I was trying to enjoy my Rockies just set me off! Thanks for letting me vent!

So as many of you know, I live in Denver and I'm watching the Rockies baseball game right now against the Cardinals. The crew invite Gwoz to come up and talk about DU hockey. Gwoz goes out of his way to discuss how bad some of the rival fans can be, and he singles out North Dakota by name and then gives a personal shout out to Alana Rizzo for all of the harassment she went through up in Grand Forks last year. You might remember her as the person doing some color commentary at the Ralph when DU played the Sioux last January/February. After that series, she went back to Denver and ranted in her blog about how Sioux fans were the meanest, nastiest people in all of college hockey and how she never witnessed such awful behavior in all her years in Madison Wisconsin covering Badger Hockey. Anyway, I found it interesting how Gwozdecky went out of his way to mention North Dakota. This guy just seems to have a hard on for UND. p.s., I'd love to chat with Rizzo and tell her about how I was at the Sioux/Badger series this past March when the Sioux clinched the WCHA title and I was sitting in the student section with a buddy and about a thousand Badger fans would periodically spot a Sioux fan, stand up, point at him/her and chant, "asshole, asshole!" Is that the type of good behavior Rizzo's referring to??? Hypocrite.

Does anyone see a disturbing pattern here? First the re-design of the "ND" logo and now the men's and women's jerseys. Again, not to beat a dead horse but, if/when we have to retire the Sioux name and logo, let's learn from and avoid the mistakes made by schools like Marquette and go about finding a new name the right way.
-
Personally, I preferred the previous jerseys with the diaginal stripes. These new ones aren't bad but like another poster said, it'll take some getting used to all the stripes. Is there a push back to the more "traditional" look across college hockey? Now, if we could only do something about CC's hockey jerseys! I'm getting tired of listening to Woog complain about them when I watch the CC/Gophers games.
-
I concur. I was at the game and I thought Landry looked as if he knew he belonged. He didn't appear starry eyed or having the "deer in headlights" look. He played with a lot of confidence. Props go out to our defense too! I'm still not convinced that Texas Tech QB, Potts, got into the end zone on 4th and goal but regardless, me (and the Tech fans sitting around me) were very impressed with the Sioux defense's toughness, despite the Tech offensive line's size advantage.
-
I'm thrilled to see Genoway get the "C" on his sweater! They couldn't have picked a better captain!
-
I'm road tripping from Denver to Lubbock for the Sioux/RR game. I'll be there with another Sioux fan and my buddy who's a Red Raider alum. We will be partying, win or lose, so feel free to give us a hollar as we'd love to hang out with fellow Sioux and Red Raider fans! Dan (303)981-7846

I will be at the Sioux/Tech game come September. I'm a huge Tech fan but not this game! I don't think the Sioux have a chance but that's why the game is played on the field, right?!?! My Tech buddy insisted that I wear my green, white, and black colors and to cheer loud for the Sioux (even though most of the other 50,000+ fans will be cheering for the Raiders).
