The players' actions and body language on the ice seem to reflect the personality of the coach. I wonder how they'd play if they had a guy behind the bench who has passion (aka Eades)? Unfortunately for Eades, he isn't married to anyone who's daddy is high up on the food chain at UND otherwhise perhaps he might have gotten the job over Hakstol.

WHAT METALLICA IS TO METAL, VANDE IS TO CLUTCH PLAY!!! YEAH!!!

Um, the Gophers managed to make it to finish 2nd in the WCHA tournament after having played 6 games in less than a week and then went on to make the NCAA tournament.....did you forget that? If that's "not such a great year" I bet a lot of teams would take it.

I think Sioux fans have a right to be frustrated right now. Afterall, doesn't the team consistently have one of the highest ranked in-coming freshman recruiting classes year after year? How come teams like Minnesota can consistently be competitive even in years when they are light on upper classmen and heavy on new comers? That said, the bar is set quite high so to fall back on the "it's a rebuilding year" excuse doesn't have much merit with me. I just find it inplausible how the team could have as many holes as they do and not enough fingers to plug 'em (pourous defense, shaky goaltending, lack of a power play, no offense). My God, can anyone tell me one aspect of the game where there are signs of strength?

Funny, I saw ZZ Top a couple years ago at Country Jam (of all things) in Grand Junction and they were really good. Billy Gibbons has some of the best guitar tone-recorded or live-that I've ever heard. I just picked up the new ZZ Top Live From Texas dvd and it's really good. My only complaint was that it wasn't a double dvd, as they have so many great songs that were not included on the disc.

I couldn't agree more with your last sentence. I prefer that our football program take this approach similar to Fresno State. That football program will play anyone, anywhere, anytime and they've had proven success, remember when they went into Madison and beat the Badgers? I like this balls-out approach by UND and I think it will create more attention and interest among Sioux fans as well as create new ones in the process.

I, for one, was thrilled to read the Herald article about the Sioux/TT game! Coincidentally, my best friend is a Texas Tech alum and the two of us are going to the Tech/Longhorns game this October. We have already planned a trip back next year for the game with the Sioux. As far as the bickering back and forth between Bison and Sioux fans, I think there is merit on both sides of the argument. Neither side is wrong-it's simply a philosophical difference of opinion. I think that Sioux fans will be increasingly excited about this game with Texas Tech and you will see a lot of green at Jones Stadium. Furthermore, the exposure, recruiting tool, money, and the experience the program is giving the players who, let's face it, are not playing for any post season trophies is big. I think that by scheduling games against high profile opponents like TT, it serves to encourage kids to come to UND during this transition phase. I've already begun the trash talking with my buddy from Tech, telling him that we (The Sioux) are going to kick their arses!!! GO SIOUX!

Is there any way we can get that BC/UND score removed from the main page of the sioux sports website?!?! I don't think we need the constant reminder of what happened in that game and frankly, I'm tired of seeing it.

I agree-I personally like the interlocking ND and anytime someone asks me or comments on it, it gives me yet another opportunity to educate that person on who had the ND logo first. Also, by the logic of some who say we ought to retire it because its the same thing as Delaware and Michigan, I guess there are several schools that should change logos-i.e. Colorado College uses the tiger paw on the side of their helmets, similar to Clemson and Misouri. By the way, can someone ask the moderator to take down the BC/UND score?!?! I doubt we need any further reminders of who won the game and what the score was. God, I can't wait for football and hockey season. The sooner the hockey season starts, the sooner we can all put the debacle of the FF behind us! Go Sioux!

Both were awesome in their own way! I was at the Pepsi Center to witness Porter's goal in person and it was such an awesome experience and something I'll never forget. I watched last night's game on ESPNU with my girlfriend and a buddy of mine and that too was great after having watched the Sioux struggle for two periods and feeling as if the season were 20 minutes from coming to an end when, in fact, the entire team pulled it together and played a gutsy 3rd period and OT. Both games will be fondly remembered for a long, long time.

As much as I'd like to believe in a conspiracy, after watching that game tonight I'd have to say that Minnesota out-worked and out-hustled SCSU. The Huskies looked slow, disorganized, and lathargic. They didn't deserve to win the game and the score certainly doesn't indicate how badly they were out played.

Let's bury 'em.

Message to the Sioux hockey team: Let's bury 'em tonight.

Mankato started sagging w/ about 5 mins left. They iced the puck about 4 times in a row before getting some chances toward the end of the 1st OT.
-
You wouldn't know the UM/Mankato game was 0-0 by watching it. It's actually been an up-and-down, entertaining game to watch. Go Mavs.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,334790,00.html "California High School Football Star Gunned Down in Random Gang Attack" I sit here in my home in Parker, Colorado reading with great interest about the homestretch in college hockey, excited about UND's prospects for winning the McNaughton Cup, the Broadmoor Trophy, and a chance to skate around the Pepsi Center this April, holding up the school's 8th National Championship in men's ice hockey. Periodically, I scan Fox News for updates on the election, news, etc. Sadly, I just came across this story (see link above) and it just makes a guy think about how precious life is and how lucky we college hockey fans are. A good kid with a promising future, gunned down for no reason. His mom, on her way back from Iraq, having to deal with the loss of her 17 year old son. A father who seemed to want his son to just make it through high school and go on to college to get his education and to play football and track. This article really hit home for me and I felt it necessary to share it with any of you interested in reading it. -Dan

McLeod better not make UND the scapegoat for the league's fighting and poor officiating problems. The fights that UND has been involved in are in part due to the terrible officiating (or lackthereof). The fighting is a symptom; frustration over the non-calls of all the little stuff-like the slash Oshie took this past weekend vs. Duluth. McLeod should look in the mirror-the buck stops here with the man in charge. It looks bad when the leader starts pointing the finger at everyone else below him.
