  1. I'm sure there are creative ways that Maine could compensate Gwoz outside of just the straight yearly salary. A lucrative annuity of some sort is certainly one way.
  2. Some CC fans wouldn't mind having Gwoz. It wouldn't likely happen though-CC's not a big time sports school, Owens is still-and likely to continue to be-head coach, and even if there were an opening, doubtful CC would be willing to pay him what he's worth.
  3. Apparently, Gwoz was quoted as saying something to the effect of, "I could get in trouble for saying this but I don't care. As far as I'm concerned, they'll always be the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux."
  4. I think going back to their ketchup and mustard colored uniforms would be a mistake. Those old jerseys burned my retinas!
  5. If you want some insight into the reaction of DU hockey fans, go on over to "let's go DU" blog. It sounds like the current administration has been tripping over itself in many areas-stalling in contract negotiations with Gwoz, budget mis-management, and a mascot-yes, you heard it right-controversy...According to their chancellor, Boone is considered "not inclusive (translation: racist).
  6. Quotes from former DU players are that of shock. I bet they're really pissed at the school over Gwoz's firing.
  7. I haven't bothered to troll but is anyone aware if DU and Minnesota fans are expressing the same frustrations about their respective coaches? I know that prior to the start of the tournament, DU fans were grumbling about Gwoz's lack of post season success since their back-to-back titles (1 NCAA tournament win).
  8. I think if those of us say that the current coaching staff can't be criticized is just wrong. I can't remember who the qb at Michigan was who said it but after losing a game, he even said that if he couldn't take the heat from Wolverines fans, he should've played at Ferris State. Same concept here.
  9. Edit:that Eades or Marks were or are any less qualified than Hak?
  10. If you don't think being married to O'Keefe's daughter didn't have any influence in Hakstol getting the head coaching gig, your head is in the clouds. I'm not saying Hak is a bad coach or necessarily deserves to be fired but c'mon, lets be honest about this. Can anyone honestly say that Eases was or is any less qualified than Eades or John Marks?
  11. If anyone of us were married to O'Keefe's daughter, we probably would've gotten the head coaching gig.
  12. I agree-there needs to be accountability and transparency in the selection process.
  13. At first, I was upset but my buddy pretty much gave me perspective: -It's a tough path to the natl championship, regardless of who we play or where we play. -Assuming we and Minnesota win our first round games, at least we'll face them on neutral ice, unlike last year's regional. -Our goaltending must be better, regardless of where we play. -Hak and the boys probably aren't expending any energy being mad about where they got placed. Just ask my buddy who's a CC fan; right now, they would've gladly taken any place the selection committee would've sent them.
  14. Howe deserved to make the all-tournament team IMO.
  15. Yes it was. Lucia's first year as CC coach. From worst to first that year. Lucia basically saved the hockey program after Brad Buetow darn near destroyed it.
  16. Yes, and I was there. A guy named Jamie Ram stood on his head for Tech as CC out-played Tech badly. That was a tough loss.
  17. What about St. Cloud? Kevin Gorg said it was imperative that the Gophers win the F5 for the Huskies tournament hopes.
  18. BU clinging to a 5-3 lead late in third over BC. BC on the pp.
  19. You're right about that! Howe looks like he did two years ago when he carried the team on his back into the NCAA's and scoring a win over BC.
  20. You wouldn't know CC had one of the worst pk's in the league after watching them this weekend.
