Don't knock Grainbelt! We can't get that out here in Colorado so everytime my folks pass through town, pops brings me a case! -That and a case of Sprecher Root Beer from Menards!

Naw, he's too small. Plus, scouting reports from the ladies say he's a lover, not a fighter.

Godsmack signed a deal today with Trainwreck of the South Suburban Adult Hockey League (SSAHL).

I had originally posted some comments a few days ago pertaining to the Mike Haviland Coaches Show regarding his team's preparation and thoughts of their upcoming series against UND. It's non-UND hockey, of sorts as it had to do with CC. In any event, you can blame me.
-
You know, with this CC team it wouldn't shock me to see them to either play great or absolutely lay an egg. The CC team that traveled to St. Cloud played phenomenal up there and then rolled over at home this past weekend against the very same team.
-
I'm listening to the Mike Haviland Coaches Show right now and Coach Haviland argues that CC could very well upset UND this weekend. His argument is that a) teams playing for their lives tend to play more defensive-oriented which results in lower scoring, tighter games (i.e., the sense of urgency may be higher with teams outside the PWR). b) lower tier teams don't have the pressure on them to win as nobody expects them to be successful. and c) he's observed UND scramble around if/when things aren't going their way and if CC can capitalize on that, they'll be successful. First off, I'd defend Haviland in that, what is he supposed to say? -"We're in total awe of North Dakota and we have zero chance of beating them."? Second, CC has tended to play better up at the Ralph than they do elsewhere in the league, I don't know why that is. I think on paper and on the ice, UND is clearly the better team and "should" win but CC will likely play hard as they fight to keep their season alive.
-
We're going to renew our CC season tickets for next year but if they continue to play like this, we'll drop them. I didn't expect a 20 win season this year but this is pathetic.

Hey MafiaMan, what's the dress code for this? Shall I take in my best bowling shirt to the dry cleaners for this?
-
I'm at the CC game. Only CC can give up three shorties (all odd man rushes) on a five minute major power play. Extremely frustrating at the poor defensive positioning.

Is there a link to the ESPN top ten?

Hey! Mr. & Mrs. Godsmack will be there too!

Ball State vs. Northern Illinois in men's basketball is being aired first on CBS Sports.

In reading Candace Horgan's article in today's USCHO, how is it that Denver can finish no higher than second? Aren't they tied with SCSU right now? Couldn't they theoretically earn a share of the Penrose Cup?
-
The best part of this article are the fan commentaries at the end of it. I'm no Gopher fan by any stretch but I empathize with their fans' frustration-limited tv exposure and playing Sunday games....what's up with that?! The U brass keep claiming they had no choice but to leave the WCHA....really??? The BIG wouldn't have seriously consulted with Minnesota beforehand to get their thoughts on a BIG hockey conference? I find it hard to believe and as one Gopher fan put it, Minnesota saw big $'s and bit down hard.

I find it incredibly hypocritical of Blais to whine about teams who play on the big sheet of ice as having a home ice advantage when here they design their rink to have both penalty boxes on the same side of the rink as Omaha's bench. I wrote a letter to the editor about this a few months ago. The SC Times, GF Herald, and C Spgs Gazette printed it but not the Omaha Herald.

Is Minnesota's Jake Bischoff any relation to former WCW/NWO great Eric Bischoff?
-
Well, of course. But in the meantime, I think that they can do more to get the word out about the team to generate a little interest.

Last Thursday, I had suggested to a buddy, that CC/World Arena ought to have given away some unsold tickets for the CC/DU game to the local youth boys and girls hockey teams and/or other young people in the Colorado Springs area. Doing something like that could accomplish a couple of things: generate goodwill among the community, fill more of the arena with parents and kids (also resulting in more concession sales), and try to re-generate interest in the CC hockey program in the community. Gosh knows the program needs to do a lot of work to generate interest in the team. I guess what I'm saying is, use the free tickets as a loss leader.

Hopefully we don't adopt something similar to the jelly donut bird that DU used to have in the late 90's/early 2000's! Remember that confusing looking thing?!?!
