  1. As a regular poster on the Colorado College Hockey Discussion Page on FB, I noticed how unusually quiet it was last night and today following their loss. After Friday’s win, I think some CC fans were about ready to call Josh Fenton and ask that the Penrose Cup be shipped to World Arena six months in advance. Beating UND was their national championship. Don’t get me wrong, I’m incredibly happy to see the Tigers having some early success but we as fans need to manage our expectations and take this thing one weekend at a time.
  2. No! There’s way more CC fans who attend the Frozen Faceoff....my wife goes too. The DU guy is our personal assistant, he carries our luggage for us.
  3. The refs were calling it pretty tight for both teams. Overall, I thought they did fine, I had no big issues with any of the calls either way. I think there was a hooking penalty on Jones down behind the North Dakota net that looked a little ticky tack but I guess I would need to see it again to determine whether or not that was the case.
  4. Yah, as a Tiger fan, I find Ken Landau to be rather trite and he uses the same tired cliches. Whenever CC scores up high, he yells, “HE SHOOTS AND SCORES! WHERE GRANDMA KEEPS THE PEANUT BUTTER!” He acts as if he coined that phrase.
  5. It appears Berry is mixing size and speed with these line pairings. We shall see whether or not that’s successful.
  6. Will there be a Saturday game day thread shortly?
  7. Man, I feel bad for Kawaguchi. He simply looks lost out there.
  8. Did Cole Smith play last night?
  9. The only good thing that happened last night was my wife winning a former CC Tiger player jersey at the game. I can’t wait to wear the Hunter Fejes jersey.....next week. Time to turn the page on last night’s game and come out hard and disciplined tonight and earn a split.
  10. After Bergh scored CC’s first goal, as he was skating by the UND bench, he started taunting the UND players. I like Bergh, I think he’s a great player but that was just classless on his part. He’s too good a player to do bush league crap like that.
  11. Went to the game. UND didn’t look sharp right out of the blocks. Sluggish, tentative, and sloppy. CC beat UND to virtually every loose puck for about the first two thirds of the game.
  12. Check out Bristol Brewery at Ivy Wild School if you like craft beers. It’s not too far from World Arena, probably a ten-fifteen minute drive.
  13. Good point. Having your own wolf pack does count for something. Is this more appropriate??
  14. Are you trying to tell me his pink dumbbells won’t fit in his European carry all???
  15. These were found left in Mittelstadt’s motel room over the weekend...
  16. I read that among several other comments of his on GPL. Even some Gopher fans have dismissed some of his comments.
  17. “I would have been satisfied with a split at Grand Forks vs. last year's UND team, but this year's version of the Fighting Hawks minus Boesser and Jost are nothing special. I am very disappointed the Gophers didn't sweep, classic case of playing down to the level of the competition. The silver lining is at least we're still very early in the season, plenty of time to improve between now and next spring.” -DaveK
  18. I went to the CC/UAA series and they dominated the Seawolves. Despite the close score last Saturday, CC should’ve put up about 5-6 more goals had it not been for Mantha in net making some unbelievable saves. That said, some in the CC community have been extrapolating a bit too much of the fact that they swept UAA while UND only tied and won in overtime. There are so many reasons why the results of all four games turned out the way they did but I wouldn’t try to predict future results based on what happened last week and the week before. That said, this is definitely a much improved CC Tiger squad and they are showing signs of those great teams from the past; fast, up-tempo and skilled. This won’t be an easy two games for UND.
  19. You oughta share this over on gopher puck live as those morons from the cities are whining about the supposed home cookin’ that UND benefited from the NCHC refs. They are convinced that the outcome would’ve been different had only 2 been called rather than the 5. Oh, and they hate Cam Johnson for all of his “extracurriculars” after the whistle.
  20. I get it-these opposing goalies are too big and too skilled, forcing our guys to aim for the corners but we’re missing the net a lot. Perhaps simply throwing more shots on net and hoping for some rebounds and greasy goals (like our lone goal last night) might be the trick? We’re a “blue collar” team, let’s score like one if we lack the “finishers” who can put pucks in those top corner spaces.
  21. Yah, suck it up butter cups! I shelled out my $9 or $10 per game on WCHA.tv a few weeks ago for the UND/Alaska Anchorage game. I’m sure Gopher fans can afford the twenty bucks.
  22. So if Faison was forced out, the question I have is, why? Did he but heads with Kennedy?
  23. I leave today for Grand Forks. Driving from Monument, CO for this series. Can’t wait, hope UND plays well!
  24. Sadly, since he’s local he probably won’t even get any consideration. UND thinks it has to go outside the state fo any sort of senior level positions.
  25. Based on Lucia’s hyperbole several years ago regarding the UND/Minnesota series, I was surprised that they resumed playing one another. Did Lucia have a change of heart or did he see the writing on the wall and want this to benefit the Minnesota program? To me, it seems like a series they need much more than we do IMO.
