One weekend and everything gets messed up. Hows about these numbers CC 28 43 UND 28 37 Denver 28 35 UW 28 34 UMN 28 33 UMD 28 29 MTech 28 19 AA 28 19 Mankato 28 18 SCSU 28 13 This has the Sioux winning out (which could happen ) and the Goofers slipping up. Seriously this is pretty unlikely to happen, but if this past weekend keeps up it is very possible. The dogs are picking things up. CC and MN have not looked so hot. Of course WI has been looking good, but their schedule the rest of the way is still brutal. The Sioux hold their own destiny with games against WI and Denver left, both are must sweeps if they want to host one of the bottom four teams. Of course I put Tech splitting the rest of their series which almost for sure will not happen, but I need to save face, being I picked them 5th in the WCHA before the season started. I still think they have the talent, they just haven't gotten goaltending until the past couple of weeks. To go further with my delusion- Tech pulls an AA and beats WI to play in the final 5! UMD beats the Gophers and ticket sales are an all time low, prompting the WCHA to give the Gophers an automatic bid every year.

Another crazy night in the WCHA. CC ties a struggling Duluth team, getting outshot again. MN loses to bottom feeder tech - shots were not that one-sided. Then St. Cloud loses to Denver 5-2 despite only allowing 14 shots - and no empty netters - 14 shots = 5 goals 9 saves It looked like the Sioux CC game from last Sat with St. Cloud getting 31 shots.

Good point. I would add Vigen from RR on that list. He isn't going to score but he is punishes the opposing forwards. He reminds me of Tim O'Connell. Marto is a great skater, as is Galt from South. As for Weisgarber, I don't think I've ever put him down. I'm sorry if his mother (specifics) had her feelings hurt. I don't know if he peaked or not, I just layed out the possibility. I've seen the kid play since mites (even coaching him once) and he has always been the best player in Fargo for his age. He still is. However from what I've seen Willert is the better college/pro prospect, I could see how others disagree, and I do not claim to be right, it is just my opinion. The RR Minot game should be a good one tonight, assuming it is not cancelled. From what I hear the storm was worse to the South, so Minot should be able to make it over.

Thanks for the report, I'm surprised MHD made it up there. I believe they play in Coleraine today - are you going to make that game? I thought Hibbing was supposed to be a ok team, they looked pretty good in state last year. That Shea Walters kid is a very good player, I'm surprised he hasn't signed anywhere yet. VandeVelde is a very streaky player, like most of the Moorhead players. Moorhead tends to get a little to cute with their play, trying to make the perfect play. They have the most talent of any team in the state, but they are not coming together. VandeVelde and Loos have scored more goals than the rest of the forwards combined. IMO this should not happen with Becker, Fisher, Clukey, Johnson, Miller and Christian on the team. Here's the box score FIRST PERIOD: 1, M, Loos, (Ammerman, Barta) 6:38. 2, H, Sutherland (Walters) 11:37 (pp). SECOND PERIOD: 3, M, VandeValde (Klukey) 0:46. 4, H, Walters (Parson) 16:08. THIRD PERIOD: 3, M, VandeValde (Fisher, Barta) 3:20. SAVES: M, Hittle 6-9-7-22. H, Toderzay 21-13-13-47.

That is the way I see it also. Blais got sick of the skilled players getting mugged so he recruited some muscle. Know the skill players are being allowed to play their game again. Although the reffing has been far consistent this year. The Sioux still need some role players on the team. I would take a player like Cory who plays in the corners and gets rebounds, but I suppose I'm biased.

CC 28 47 UMN 28 41 Denver 28 37 UND 28 36 UW 28 35 UMD 28 26 Mankato 28 18 AA 28 17 SCSU 28 15 MTech 28 8 UND Sweeps Kato, The Dogs beat WI, CC, MN and Denver get in. UND beats the Dogs and CC, MN beats Denver, UND beats MN to win the Broadmoor. This of course is wishful thinking, but it could happen Nice call on CC early on Schmidty - I, like most thought MN would run away with it.

He sounds like a relative of mine

Willert was picked to be on the HS elite team this past fall, and ended up being one of the leading scorers - this team was mostly made up of Moorhead and Warroad players. Weisgarber played on the lower team and did well, but he is no where near the player Willert is - based on playing past HS anyway. I haven't seen Aide play this season - I believe he was hurt during the fall, so I can't really comment on him. Willert is easily the best D1 recruit in ND IMO.

I've never given the Western teams much credit, but this years Minot team is pretty good. They beat EGF and Central. They still play RR and Grafton this season. As far as strenght of schedule - the Western teams are pretty limited in who they play. The Fargo teams always play Fergus, Crookston, Moorhead (recently only South, but North used to) as well as a holiday tourny in MN. GF always plays Crookston, EGF and often Roseau or Warroad. For Minot to play any of these teams would require a long bus trip, plus they are restricted at how many games they can play. I would not say Minot is the favorite yet, but if they beat RR and Grafton they have to be considered the #1 team in the state. I wouldn't be surprised if they won their second title this year (or did Bismarck win the 1st? I know they played each other but can never remember who won)

There is no way WI is out and ND is in at this point. WI has a brutal schedule the rest of the way, if they lose a good portion of those and the Sioux sweep them then maybe, but at this time - no way. For the Sioux to even make the NCAA's they are going to have to have a good showing with WI and Denver (meaning at least 5 of the 8 points) as well as sweep PCU, Bemidji and AA (have to make up for that home loss). They can do it and I am very confident they will do it.

Another Moorhead player gave a verbal to a D1 school - Becker's going to join his brother at the Air Force Academy. Becker I guess the Sioux were not interested, there loss IMO. For those in the FM area (or w/in driving distance) Warroad - MHD 6:00 tonight. Future Sioux players Lee, VandeVelde and Oshie, along with Becker and likely D1 players Ammerman, Hardwick, Fisher, Loos, and Christian (among others).

Of the losing team?

PJ Stats at Red Deer He plays for Red Deer now, he must have been traded from Moose Jaw. Hopefully Mario doesn't follow the MJ route. He is one of the youngest players in the USHL and having a decent year. He should be considered a likely Sioux recruit for 2006 (or 07).
-
If he had an offer I can guarantee you he would take it. He is a Grant Potulny like player, he isn't the fastest skater, but is good around the net and on the PP. He also takes draws and plays a very good physical game. The Sioux haven't really talked to him though, so I don't see him getting an offer. But if he has a good year in the USHL who knows. VandeVelde is really progressing this year. He still hasn't stepped up and scored in any of the tight games though (nobody has this year for MHD). Assuming Warroad can start their bus Sat at 6:00 is Warroad-Mhd in Mhd, get their early. Three signed future Sioux players in one game, it should be a good one.

I can see missing the sarcasm at first, but I think Drive went from sarcastically impaired to just plain stupid.

Definitions of sarcasm on the Web: witty language used to convey insults or scorn; "he used sarcasm to upset his opponent"; "irony is wasted on the stupid"; "Satire is a sort of glass, wherein beholders do generally discover everybody's face but their own"--Johathan Swift www.cogsci.princeton.edu/cgi-bin/webwn a form of verbal irony in which apparent praise is actually harshly or bitterly critical. Close Window www.wwnorton.com/introlit/glossary.htm A stinging remark usually containing irony used to wound feelings garneteye.com/mediation/learn.glossary.qz.html A generally bitter comment that is ironically worded. The younger Toewes is also leading the Tier I bantam team in scoring 89 points in 39 games. The Lam. girls are 1 and 3 in scoring now, which is very impressive when you consider they are much younger than most of the girls on the team. They could really jumpstart the womens hockey program should they decide to play at UND.

That is strange for a D-man, but stickhandlers like the short sticks. DMT knows all about short sticks maybe he can weigh in on the issue. I do agree with catch 22 statement. Radke needs playing time to develop, but the Sioux are playing for a NCAA spot and cannot afford to take a veteran out at his expense.
-
At some point Hakstol needs to be looking towards next season and get Radke some more ice time. However players like Williamson and Murphy did not come into the program behind a unit like Greene, Jones, Schneider, Smaby and Fuher. Most hockey teams dress 6 D, but generally only play 4-5 for most of the game. I can see why Radke should get more playing time, but at which of the above mentioned players expense?
