Sounds like the sports bars in GF will be packed on Fri night - the Ralph should get the feed on the big screen - they could make a profit off beer and food sales.

I don't agree that Bemidji is an easier draw than Colgate. The ECAC rarely travels out west - looking at Colgage this year they didn't play any good team outside of the ECAC. They lost to Northeastern twice and beat two weak CCHA schools in Ferris and LSSU, both of which Bemidji split with. I will be cheering for the Beavers. Playing BU and potentially BC in Boston pretty much sucks, but the Sioux seem to do well out east in NCAA play. Denver and CC spanked BU earlier in the year, then they split with Minny when they were without Hagemo and Goligoski. BU has struggled recently, so playing them was a good draw - just where they are playing them sucks. IMO the Goofers drew the best draw - the ECAC is overrated and Ohio looked terrible against Michigan. Maine has been up and down, and are the tougher team IMO.

I'm not sure if New Hamphire losing to a #1 team will bump them down enough - probably a better chance if Harvard loses. If I understand how they do things (which I likely do not) if the Sioux get the #8 seed and Denver beats CC - giving them the #1 seed, they should be in the same bracket - the #1 overall seed and the last overall #2 seed should be in the same bracket. Not sure if that makes any sense, I think I just confused myself

These guys look to be peaking at the right time. Three great games. How they had enough gas for todays game is beyond me. The word character has been tossed out a few times - that is the best way to sum it up. If Denver wins tonight I think it is very possible for the Sioux and Denver to be in the same bracket - probably unlikely, but still possible. I would love nothing more than to see some revenge from last year - and yesterday. These past couple of weeks have been a fun time to be a Sioux fan, it looks like they are playing to the potential most were expecting.

If true he will never play hockey again I also heard this from a fairly reliable source - he will have to have his vertebrate fused together, but should have no paralysis. The good news is he can recover and live a normal life. The bad news is playing hockey will not be a part of his life. I hope Paukavich learns from this, if he has any conscious the knowledge of what he did is the worse punishment he can get. If there is someone to blame I put it more on the refs - as mentioned before this was not the first hit from behind into the boards. The play was getting dangerous and the refs were losing control. Also it was competely classless for Gowzdecky to play Paukavich after the hit. He should have sat the rest of the game - it was a very blatent hit from behind.

I think the Sioux are physically and emotionally drained. I say play Brandt - I would say play the other guys that haven't dressed - but they have to play just to field enough players Frankly I don't the Sioux will give much of a rip about this meaningless game - I know I don't. Under different circumstances I would think differently being it is the Gophers, but there are more important things on the everyones' minds. The CC-Denver game should be a good one.

I still maintain the majority of Gopher fans are good fans. Of course most of the games I went to in Minny were before they won the back to back championships so they didn't have the bandwagon fans on board. I cheer for the WCHA in general, I don't hate the gophers, I guess that makes me an idiot. I agree with most about the reffing - it had nothing to do with the outcome of the game as far as the score goes - but they let too much go and lost control of the game. Someone was bound to get hurt, unfortunately it was a severe (or potentionally severe) injury. Even if Bina recovers physically he may not mentally. I hit like that can change the way you play the game (Tyler Palmiscino?). That hit was the most obvious intent to injure penalty I've ever seen in college hockey. The fact the call was completely blown is a disgrace. The outcome of the game was not affected by the reffing, just the players' safety.

I just heard that - Sioux fans always turn out well. I don't think most people realize how many UND alum live in the cities - I would guess there were more local UND fans that people traveling from GF at the ex last night.
-
You forgot this came from a Goopher fan - they only talk about "offensive defensemen", which Denver has two of the best in the WCHA.
-
"One things for certain, Dean Blais never had a goalie for a son" Doog Woog 3/17/05 You people with the mute on are missing some gems If the Sioux keep the game 5-5 they win - if they give WI any more PP time they are in trouble.
-
I think the Wooger had a few too many Irish whiskeys. Then again he usually sounds like he's half drunk. He is entertaining though. Robbie Earl is one ugly dude - I hope Bina pays him back later in the game.
-
The traffic will suck - but the roads will be fine. They actually plow, salt and sand the roads in the metro area - something they don't do in GF. I will be sitting at home drinking a Blue Moon - although I may have to purchase some Harp and Guiness (gotta love the black and tan) for the holiday. Killians is a good beer - but Irish - in name only.
-
I read that this morning, that Jan Ganglehoff (or whatever her name was) must not do very good work To be fair, the timeline they used was in the middle of that mess - when most (or all) of the players left after the NCAA put them on probation. I don't know if they take into account if the player graduates from another university.

Those are great seats center ice - lower bowl. It is spring break and the students crowd will likely be small. Of course the REA doesn't give out student tickets to playoff games anyway so the student crowd would be small regardless of spring break.

There will be a processional from the law school to the Chester Fritz, we are lining up about 12:40 and leaving at 12:50. Any alum or anyone else are free to join. I can see Professor Lee rolling his eyes when John Hoff was speaking They respected each other, but disagreed on most everything (then again pretty much everyone disagrees with John Hoff on most things).

Thanks for the recap - I'll have to check out the Fargo Boosters after I find a job, assuming there are some in Fargo Lee is a class act - a very humble kid who hates publicity. His only knock IMO is he puts to much pressure on himself, especially in big games - which affects his performance. If Vandy or Oshie have a good spring in the USHL I wonder if Hak will bring them in next year? It sounds like Miller may not be ready to play in the fall - rotator cuff surgery has a very long recovery period. Hopefully Moreland can make the roster - but realistically I see that as very unlikely. They will probably sign that kid leading the BCHL or that Boll kid from Lincoln.
-
From what I understand- said player informed the UND coaches the only place he wants to play is UND and he is going to try and walk on regardless of any offer from UND for the 06-07 season. I would like to see Moorheads #1 powerplay unit playing for the Sioux in the future - there are 6 or 7 seniors off the Moorhead squad that have legitimate shots at playing D1 hockey. To join the "compare to Speiwak" talk - I'll throw out Cory Johnson from Moorhead - about the same size, same speed and same tenacity. Hopefully he wises up and decides to put hockey over football. I'd hate to see him try out for the Bison (as was reported).
-
I think the level of play is similar to the USHL, plus there are no Green Bay to Lincoln or Indianapolis to Wichita bus rides . I believe most of the teams in the BCHL are fairly close to each other, plus the scenery is a little nicer than the midwest.
-
I don't know that he was cutting him down. Oshie is an incredible player, but not many kids can make the transition from HS to college so quick. I think Oshie could, but I also think spending a year in the USHL will do more for him then coming straight to UND. Throughout the entire tourny he played very hard, I was most impressed with his backchecking and physical play. Like siouxnami said, there are parts of his game that need improvement. I look forward to seeing him play whenever he does come to UND. I will disagree that scoring 100 points means "nothing", it is an huge accomplishment, something very few HS players have done, especially with Warroads schedule, which wasn't a cakewalk.

The ceremony is tomorrow.

AFA, AA - someone probably left out the 'F' somewhere. Becker is a fun player to watch, glad to see he made the all tourny team. IMO Morinville should have put him on the second line much earlier in the tourny. Cory Johnson is also fun to watch - I hope he gives up football and decides to play hockey next season. He was one of the best players on the ice all tourny, especially tonight. Holy Angels got some lucky bounces, and then clearly outcoached the Spuds. Not to say Morinville is a bad coach, but Trebil put a great trap together that Moorhead couldn't figure out, it was kinda of a defensive zone trap - they gave up the shots, but pushed everything to the outside and cleared out the crease area. Moorhead was the much more talented team, too bad the fell asleep to start the game, then had some ugly goaltending. I'm sure their will be talk of a 'curse' after this game. They will be known as the WBL of section 8. I just saw Lee, Ammerman and VandeVelde made all tourny with Becker. IMO Becker and VandeVelde are the only two that deserve it. Lee did make some nice passes, and played well in the first two games, but the way he was burned tonight, I would have never thought HS players could get around him like that. Ammerman dissapeared for the entire tourny - he did nothing. Cory Johnson lead the team in scoring for the tourny and should have been named.
-
My cousin played for them last year and this year. Becker is going to the AFA with his brother - the Sioux will likely never see him. Unless he's up at GF for some flight instruction.

MHD gets $%&*$# by the reffing. The first HA goal was allowed by the ref after he clearly blew the whistle before it went in. Then he calls off a goal for high sticking after the replay shows 1. it was not played by a high stick and 2. It was not even touched by Johnsons stick. They played their worse defensive game of the year, which put them in a bad position. A couple of weak goals, and Lee was toasted on the first three HA goals. Lee and Ammerman both had terrible games - yet both will be named to the all tourny popularity contest. Barta played a great game and a great tourny, other than that the defense was pretty dissapointing. 0-6 in championship games - it must hurt to be a die-hard Moorhead fan - I was really only a fan for two years
