The only solution for some of these "fans" is to replace this With that:
-
Actually he is a Ed.D. not a Ph.D
-
Ummm Tony and Phil Just a couple of hall of famers with the same last name - I don't think there is any relation to the SSM kid though.

Lee may fit that mold, and Radke was supposed to, but other than those two I don't see either of the other D-men being much of an offensive threat. Jones has 2 points in 41 games for the USND team. Chorney had 4 goals and 28 assists - which was about the same as the rest of the SSM D. I've seen him play a few times, and he is a very solid D-man, but not someone I would say is offensive minded. Jones for sure, and I would think Chorney would fit the mold as stay at home D - although neither is all that big. I think Lee will also be more of a stay at home player at this level, although he does have the skills to be more offensive minded. Regardless, I don't think the Sioux have another Roche type player coming in.
-
The only real knock against Lee is his conservative play it big games. In HS he would look incredible against weaker teams, then seemed to regress against quality teams. The ability is always there, I think he just worries too much about getting scored on. The kid is too humble - if you've ever spoken to him or heard him speak, he hates all the attention he's gotten. Maybe they should have him talk to that Street kid WI just signed - he can teach him how to be an arrogant prick I think he will be ok once he takes some pressure off of himself. Once he gets to UND and realizes there are several other players with his talent I think he will do just that.

I'm clerking for a Judge who lives in TRF - I know he also lived in the Cities for a while. I can see if he would be willing to answer some of your questions - pm me your name and email if you want me to do that.

I guess I agree with your point, but not on that particular play. It was an errant stick that got Spirko in the throat. This has happened to everyone who has played at least a few times - at first it feels like you can't breath, then you feel like you have a lump in your throat for the next day or two. I would guess that is what happened to Spirko. Major penalties are reserved for intent to injure plays - that was not that type of play IMO, but I can see why you disagree. Highsticking isn't as serious as it is in the pro's- (facemasks), but it can turn dangerous if you get hit in the neck area. I don't see college hockey going the way of the pros- giving out a lot of double minors and majors for high sticking because of the shields. I guess what I think was missing from this particular play was the "spearing motion".
-
To call a spear the player has to intentionally make a spearing movement - not intentionally hit someone just make the stabbing motion. That was not the case - clearly it should have been a high stick but I can't see that being called a spear in any league. The high stick penalty on Green was not the Xcheck - it was the nice open ice hit the ESPN guys went back on the replay and couldn't figure out why it was called. Nobody is mentioning my favorite call - the unsportsmanlike on Prpich for drinking out of Manino's water bottle. I believe that is the first time he has been given a penalty for that - at least the DU player that went after him also got a penalty.

What a run. The Sioux played a great game tonight. Some bad deflections and a great goaltending job did them in. Fabian drove two players through the glass. That entire line played an incredible tourny.

Sounds like the guys are still relaxed having a good time - overachieving sure is fun INCH Article

Call it fate or coincidence but this matchup is something a lot of Sioux fans have been waiting for. The Sioux have a lot of reasons (besides the obvious playing for a national championship) to get up for this one: Denver 2, North Dakota 1 Non-Conference Game Friday, March 18, 2005 at Xcel Energy Center (Att: 13132) Denver 1, North Dakota 0 Non-Conference Game Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Colorado Springs World Arena (Att: 6047) Logically I see the game as a tight one goal contest. But for some reason I see the Sioux coming out like they did in their first playoff game with Duluth and bury Denver 6-1. With Greene throwing down with Paukovich, and Paukovich cowering away.
-
I've been waiting to use that one for a while - hadn't seen any real bad jokes until that one. Nothing personal

I was looking for the ND team, but it wasn't on the HS page - thanks for the link. No offense to the kids that made the team, but this has to be the weekest group of kids ND has had in years. They should be ok at D - but no offense. I'm surprised that Stadstad kid isn't on the team - he was very impressive on the elite team. He must not have tried out. I'm also somewhat suprised Lueke from South isn't on the team. Hopefully they don't get sent down to the B bracket Next years senior class looks much much better.

Team Minnesota Roster Forwards
-
While there are no current recruits on this team, there are some possibilities - Section 8 won the Great 8 tourny last weekend. For those that don't know what that is - each section puts together an all-star team and they play an 8 team tourny. The Moorhead players on the team were - Johnson, Deutz, Loos, Becker, Ammerman and I think Barta. Johnson, Ammerman and Deutz were also picked for the Chicago Showcase team.

My point is that these "resolutions" clearly do not depict the majority of members. I think you proved my point about looking for racism - if someone spits on the sidewalk they do so because they are racist? I have no idea what the Teepee incident is about - but I'm assuming it was vandalized. Isn't it just as likely some stupid high school kids that were out egging cars decided to egg the Teepee or some drunk fratboy did the same -out of drunken stupidity. I have had my car egged, as well as broken into. I did not blame this on racists - even though it may have been, it was more likely just your average criminals. By the way I work for a Native group and I am a member of NALSA. I spent most of today at Clifford Hall listening to the Law School's Indian Law Symposium - which had some very good speakers. Just because I feel different about the Sioux name and logo doesn't make me a racist. From my experience those few Natives that want the name change are opportunists like Russell Means who try and get their face on TV to make of buck off of those they pretend to represent. I don't understand why you feel you cannot be Native and support the name. I really do respect those Natives that feel offended by UND using the name, but instead of them crying for a change I think they would be better off lobbying the University to better educate students about the Sioux name. Something that has already been done to a point (PA announcement at hockey games). If you ever feel like discussing the issue at the Indian Law Center - feel free to stop by. Private message me if you like and we can meet sometime.

Give me some credit - they are technically out of the playoffs already - but they have games scheduled until April 17th. Last year people actually believed my fake press release - I guess two years in a row was too much to ask. Although the last part should be dead give away - then again who knows with those BC players.

Albany Press Release: The Albany River Rats are expected to sign Zach Parise's brother, Jordan Parise, before next Wednesdays game against Bridgeport. Parise, a sophomore goaltender at the University of North Dakota has been a main reason the Sioux made it the Frozen Four (college hockey's version of the Final Four) this season. Parise will have to give up playing in the Frozen Four, but he is reportedly more excited about being reunited with his brother. The River Rats have been looking for a goalie to replace Scott Clemmenson, who suddenly left the team this week. Vice President Jonathan Scherzer said, "Jordan Parise will be expected to make an immediate impact, our goal is to make playoffs, and we feel Jordan can help us reach that goal." The River Rats currently sit eight points out of the final playoff spot, with only 13 games remaining. Side note - Scott Clemenson has reportedly moved to the Netherlands with long time lover, and former Boston College teammate Brian Gionta. The two are planning on getting married and playing pro hockey in Europe.

This is not true. What happened was the ultra leftist PC people found at least one Tribal Leader to denounce the name - but the Tribe as a whole has not. As The Sicatoka has already stated (several times ), the vast majority of Native people are not bothered by the name. You can spend the rest of your life blaming every bad thing that happens to you on your race, but I would suggest against it. Is there racism - of course, but it is not as widespread as you claim. It may appear otherwise if you spends most of your life looking for racism - which is what the PC crowd does. I will agree with you in defending Native spots in certain programs (esp medicine). People need to realize that the University does not simply hold spots for Native people. Rather they have agreements with Tribes and Indian programs, where Native people are given spots with the understanding they will practice in Native areas. The Sioux name has been debated to death - in every instance the vast majority of all races want to keep it, including Natives.
-
Most of the other Native students I have met have no problem with the name. The Spirit Lake High school is known as the "Indians", and use a logo that is very much like the UND logo of the 70's. The vast majority of people protesting are ultra liberal white people who have nothing better to do. The people at 317 Cambridge are being used and exploited by said white people. Fortunately most Native students are smart enough to realize this. Being proud of your heritage is a good thing - blaming all of your problems on your heritage is a bad thing. Not all Native people want to live a traditional life, what is wrong with that? Not everyone devotes their entire life to their heritage. I have respect for those that work to further Native causes, such as improving reservation life. However, those that leave the reservation, or were never on a reservation are no less Native. Not everyone puts their race above everything. Most of the Natives I know are people that happen to be Native, not Natives who happen to be human.

Alpine Valley is a crappy place to see a show. I'd be more jealous is you replaced Alpine with Red Rocks. Although just getting into a DMB show is something to be jealous of. I can't see Dave Matthews hitting up GF any time soon.
