Is the game on the FSSN? Cable One if Fargo still has the home shopping network on. They have missed a few games this season. I hate Cable One.
  2. Devils Lake 1 Fargo South 0 End of 1st.

  4. I want your job. When will the US learn how to pick players for international competition. Hatcher? He is a great NHL player, but he just does not have the spead. I thought they started getting things right during the last Olympics with more spead and skill (Housley, York and Deadmarsh). The problem with this years team had something to do with the coaching IMO. Herb Brooks obviously knew what he was doing, I am sure there are a few others in the USA hockey system who can figure it out.
  5. Peter: Hey hey I got an idea. Lets play "I Never." You got to drink if you did the thing that the person says they never did. Cleveland: Oh I got one, I never slept with a women with the lights on. (They all drink.) Joe: I'll go next, uh I never had sex with Cleveland's wife. (Quagmire and Cleveland drink.) Peter: alright lets see uh, I never did a chick in a Logan airport bathroom. (Only Quagmire drinks.) ****About 33 drinks later**** Peter: God lets see what else is there um...I never gave a reach-around to a spider monkey while reciting the Pledge of Alligence. Quagmire: Oh God. (Quagmire takes a drink.) Joe: I uh I never picked up an illegal alien at Home Depot to take home and choke me while I touch myself. Quagmire: Oh come on! (Quagmire drinks again.) Peter: I never did the same thing except with someone from Joann Fabrics. Quagmire: Oh God this is ridiculous. You guys suck! (Drinks more and passes out.)
  6. Keep the updates coming, I appreciate them. Everytime I try and get on NBC's link my computer freezes
  7. Note to US Olympic hockey coaching staff: I realize most people forget Buffalo has an NHL team, but there is an American goalie by the name of Ryan Miller who is pretty good. It would be in your best interest to have one of the seive's you call goalies to get "hurt" so he can come in as a replacement. Thank you.
  8. I don't agree with this. Just because someone is the greatest in HS does not guarantee they will continue to succeed at the next level. I would think most people agree Tom Philion was one of the best HS players to ever play in ND, yet he did not have a great college career, same with Paul Murphy. Then there are the players like Askew and Jeremy Holm who didn't even follow up with hockey to focus on a different sport (golf & baseball). Mr. Hockey is awarded to the best HS player, not who has the greatest potential. Of course people will disagree on who should win the award, but I have never thought the winner was not deserving. I have never seen the kid from the West play so I cannot comment on him, but Galt, Weisgarber the Campbells and Mihulka would all be deserving players in my opinion.
  9. He did, I think they let him graduate just to get rid of him. He was studying for the MN bar for the second time the last I saw him. I assume he flunked it again. His buddy Roland Reimers, who is even more crazy than he is, was kicked out of law school. Thanks to these two I think the law school is screening its applicants a little more.
  10. I guess there is some resemblance to the diety:
  11. West Fargo over Central 2-0 in second.
  12. Latvia is coming back, 4-3 last I saw. On paper I still think the Slovaks have the best offense, and maybe the best team. With Hasek out I see a Slovakia-Canada gold game. If Hasek comes back and can play well, replace the Czechs for the Canucks.
  13. I think Slovakia and the Czech Repubic will play in the gold game. Both teams have a ton of speed and adapt to the olympic ice very well. The only question mark for both teams is goaltending, with Hasek injured. I cannot figure out why people consider Slovakia beating the Russians is such an upset. Look at Slovakia's roster, they are loaded - Gaborik, Bondra, Hossa, Satan, Svatos, Chara.... The US should have beat Latvia, but I do not agree they should have "killed" them. Latvia has a number of former/current NHL and Russian elite players. The US did out play them, but Irbe was hot in net. Plus Latvia had likely been practicing together for some time. Look at Canada, they were tied with Italy in the second period. Hopefully the US has a better performance against another former Soviet state today.
  14. The song was written by blues legend Huddie Ledbetter, whom last time I checked, was very much black himself. I wonder how he would feel having his song banned as "potentially offensive". I suppose they will ban any song written by Leadbelly, including covers by Led Zepplin, Pearl Jam and Nirvana.
  15. What great logic - the bigger the goalie, the better he is. I found a couple of brothers the Sioux should be recruiting. Not sure of their eligibility (I think they might be dead).
  16. Thanks. Cory is done for the season. He is looking at major reconstructive surgery on his wrist, for the second time. It is pretty likely he is done playing hockey for good, he is at UND hanging out with Brian Lee, living vicariously through him. There are a number of players who could play DIII. I wish Concordia would focus on their program more, they could have some really good teams if they recruited more locally. I know a few Moorhead kids (Cory Johnson, Ryan Clukey and others) are playing now. I do not know of any ND kids playing in the MIAC, in the past I know Jared Klava played somewhere in the MIAC. Toby Schneider, Christian Keidrowski, and Mike Gast played for Concordia.
  17. Laducer once gave one of my players a 10 minute misconduct for "staring at him". That same game he gave another player a 10 minute misconduct for saying "crap", after losing the puck. That was also the same game I was tossed out for "looking at him funny". In my five years of coaching that is the only penalty I ever received. About two weeks later we had Laducer in a state tourny game, against West Fargo. That game, West Fargo had a kid tossed for "slamming the door in on the bench", I was standing about five feet away and this kid did not slam the door any harder than any one else. The West Fargo coach asked Laducer about it and was tossed out of the game. I cannot understand why this guy is still reffing youth games, let alone high school games. End Laducer rant. Skateshattrick makes a good point about the talent in ND HS hockey. However, I think some posting on here are not very realistic about that talent. Very few ND kids go on to play D1 hockey. Even more rare is the ND kid who does not leave to play juniors making a D1 squad. Obviously Weisgarber is a D1 prospect, as are Galt and Mihulka. After that there are not many seniors that will likely play college hockey in the state. Depth has always been the problem with ND HS hockey. This years South team is probably one of the deapest I've ever seen. They have three very good lines. RR also has depth, but they are relying on a lot of Sophomores, at least they have the few times I have seen them play. As far as North goes, they have first line who would be first line (forwards only) players on almost any team. However, they have no depth. In the past few years Northside youth hockey has been down. Many of the good athletes on the Northside appear to be playing bouncy ball for some reason
  18. I could be wrong, but I think Lacrosse was recently sanctioned as a high school sport in Minnesota, although I don't think there are many teams outside of the metro. When the Wild were on lockout, the Swarm sold a lot of tickets, I'm not sure how they are doing this year, but they are still playing at the Xcel Center. I've never played the sport, but it looks like a lot of fun. Once I had a lesson on the rules, I would enjoy watching some matches.
  19. I'm guessing the Green jerseys will be put in storage for the rest of the year. For that matter, the white jerseys should be put away as well.
  20. Our record was a little misleading, there were a lot of suspensions and other problems with the 95 North team. Jamestown was the real deal, if I remember right we played them in the 3rd place game in 96, after losing to RR in double OT in the semi's. Vannett was a very good goalie. Jamestown also had a couple of brothers named Erstad in the 90's that were pretty good hockey players....and baseball players
  21. The Sioux freshman have been playing pretty well, however, their roles are not typical freshman roles. I would expect the freshman to be the 3rd line guys going out and chipping in when they can. This weekend the Duncan-Watkins-Kozek line did just that. They didn't produce, but they looked pretty good and had some chances. The problem is the Sioux have freshman like Oshie, Towes, and most of the D who are tossed into big roles. Oshie has been great, Towes is starting to show what he is capable of, but is still not the go to guy the Sioux are looking for. Stafford, Spirko and Zajac are the guys the Sioux need to look to. They were shutout this weekend, but I thought they played pretty well. Sometimes you run into a hot goalie. The Sioux outplayed St. Cloud last night, at least in the offensive zone, but Geopart was on his game. If the Sioux are looking to blame someone for last nights loss, they should blame Providence College. Had they not been so strict with cheating policies, the Sioux would have scored 5 goals last night. If the Sioux want to play at the end of March they need more production from the upper classmen. It seems like Parise has more points than a lot of this team I think most of the freshman have had a good year. The only two I thought would produce more are Watkins and Towes. Towes is more of a complete player than I was expecting, I think if he stays for a couple of years, he will put up big numbers.
  22. No love for his father, a four year Sioux player, in the article. The Sioux did not even have time to shy away from him - he is only a junior in HS. Morinville has ties to SCSU and Motzko coached him on some elite teams/summer camps. Jordy made a very early decision, hopefully it was the right one for him. Matt Cullen sure liked SCSU and things turned out pretty well for him. I know Dave was not happy with Morinville, since his kid did not see much varsity time, but I have never heard Jordy or Ed being unhappy with him.
  23. UW 28 42 UMN 28 41 UND 28 36 Denver 28 36 CC 28 33 SCSU 28 28 Mankato 28 20 UMD 28 17 MTech 28 16 AA 28 11 Wishful thinking for UND, but still doable. It is pretty likely there is not going to be five WCHA teams in the NCAA's this year, so the Sioux need to finish strong. It should be interesting to see what a Denver Sweep of WI will do to their PWR rankings.
  24. Spirko's a killer!
  25. I agree. I graduated from college (NDSU, but don't hold that against me) before the new REA was built and attended many Sioux games. My point was not that this did not happen before, only that it is on a much bigger scale now. This is not so much a "problem" as a fact of life. Obviously the new arena must attract more of the "casual" fan to fill up seats. Overall I think this is a good thing. However, I think many of these "casual" fans are a big part of the problems. The casual student fan appears more obnoxious and there just to get drunk and make an ass out of himself. The casual non-student fan appears more interested in being seen and makes a bigger deal about what he perceives as the drunken student crowd. There is no way to make both sides happy all the time. As a great poet once wrote, "you can't always get what you want". If the problem is as bad as they claim, both sides need to give a little. The students need to start policing their own and showing more respect. The people complaining about the students need to realize that college students are not supposed conduct themselves with the upmost maturity, especially at a hockey game. Just my opinion. Instead of working on a solution, I foresee the students being to immature and the administration being to militaristic to actually compromise on anything.
