Highly doubt it. But it does beg the question.
Do you give the reigns to Jackson and see what he can do, contingent upon Hak getting let go, and coming back.
OR
Do you wait out the season, and move right back to Hak if he is available? I don't think there is any doubt that if Hak is available, he is the absolute #1 college coach on the market.
Also, lets not forget they are good friends, that could play into how things transpire. Would Hak take that from Berry? Would he try to bring Berry back in a different capacity (sorry, but good bye Shaw). Would Berry take a year or two off and then come back as an assistant again? How long will Jackson hang around as an assistant?
A whole new question ... how much do we pay our head coach vs. UMD? If we can offer more, would Sandelin ever want to come back to UND? If Chaves does not, at least, explore that option or have that conversation, he has not done his job. You might not be able to have him, but you need to have the conversation.
If this season does not take a drastic change of direction (as it did so many time with Hak) there will be a ton of questions next spring.
