THIS is not just about a school focus. There needs to be an understanding that a number 1 sport is based on fan following, not just school acknowledgement. The hockey teams fans base is the largest because of perennial success. Football becomes a perennial power; the fan base and follow.

Toews does alot for the program simply by having attended school here. Having your school associated with a name like that is impressive. It is too bad that basketball can't utilize the Phil Jackson connection better. Granted there is a huge status gap between Toews and Jackson, but still. If having the Zen Master as alumni of your program is pretty impressive if you work it the right way and got Phil to buy in. That being said, I don't know much about whether or not Phil is ever involved with UND, but aside from him accepting an honorary doctorate a few years ago, I really havn't seen much association between him and the school.

As Dave no longer answers to the NCAA, it would be awesome to see him wear a sioux head lapel pin during games or something like that. I know he won't, but that would be pretty cool. It would be like a big middle finger to the NCAA, which I'm sure Dave would NEVER do.

Not going defend the guy, already said he had some character issues (though it shouldn't matter who was put into a coma, its bad regardless of relations). Second you need to dig in past the headlines. There were three people involved. An personally I think they are all morons, yes including the kid who was in a coma. They all put themselves into a stupid situation and that guy got the worst of it. Prime example of why getting into fights is stupid, you never know what can happen. They are all to blame. I was simply throwing out the thought of an available QB with FBS experience.

That is along the lines of what I was wondering. Maybe if it is exhibition is doesn't matter, I remember the UofM playing professional European teams back in the day. The players looked like race cars with all of the sponsors and adverstisements on their jerseys.

Totally random question: Could UND ever schedule an AHL team like, the Iowa Wild, for an exhibition game? Is that even allowed? Just seems like if they could do something like that it would be a really cool marketing event. I know I'd want to watch.

I'm kind of surprised we haven't heard anything about Auston Matthews. Saw the report that he signed in the swiss league, then he didn't. Really wondering what he is waiting on? I know there are options to weigh, but I would think he would do something pretty soon. *Dream* - Could he be holding out to see if accelerating is education is possible?

The hard part to interpret from that tweet, is it Hak leaving that sways Jordan, or is it that Berry is staying. I think he probably would have stayed anyway, then know that Hak is leaving and Berry is staying and the program remains consistent .... maybe that was the factor.

From what I have read Strickland is a reliable source. As for the rest, maybe it isn't so much Hak leaving that has Jordan wanting to stay, but the fact that Berry is the one replacing him rather than someone outside the program. Maybe he would have stayed with Hak here too. Just trying to read between the lines. Plus I think part of him would like to become a FA and then sign with Chicago if he can.
