Pretty funny stuff on the Wyonation blogs. Most, not all, believe that UND will absolutely get steamrolled. I agree that Wyoming is definitely the favorite, but by no mean should the prediction be a 30pt WYO win. Do I expect UND to go in an win this game, based on where they were last year. Not necessarily. I would like to see us go in and be competitive and give ourselves a chance to win. Just surprised me how good WYO fans expect to be, and how terrible they expect UND to be. Almost as if they are playing a D3 school. Aside from the actual game, there is chatter about how UND stole the interlocking ND from Notre Dame. Also really funny to see a few of the Bison fans that go onto the Wyoming/UND thread, just to bash UND. Almost like because Bohl is coaching there, they are all buddies. Bison fans apparently know the ins and outs of UNDs roster and their strength and weaknesses from last season. Though I would have figured most of these same posters would also admit they wouldn't watch a UND game because it would be a waste of their time. It amazes me, the lengths and some (not all) Bison fans will go just to rag on UND (a school that these some poster claim they don't have a rivalry with anymore)

This is kind of the impression I got of them, based on different stories from people on the message boards who knew them. Sounds like they were good high school athletes but never the most committed. Probably want more to enjoy college and friends and good times than to play football. Understandable, but too bad. I know they were not scholarship athletes, but it sounded like they could have been pretty good if they had put the work in.

Anyone know how this last team has been? Any chance we just match up well with these teams, or have there been some big surprises with our players. I was under this impression this wouldn't not be a very strong year, and that next season we were supposed to be a little deeper and a little more talented. Then again, while I like to follow UND, basketball is a sport I just don't know much about. Any chance we can make a splash this year, or were we supposed to win all of these European games?

Would Jost be comparable to our expectations for Boeser? Higher? Lesser? Big time scorer?

Never say never, the NCAA is very good about always keeping a door open for themselves to makeup rules as they go.

My vote is still for No Nickname, but not because I want to unofficially be The Fighting Sioux (As much as I do love the name and logo). It is because the rest of the names are just no good (yes I know there are people who love Roughriders, and it is the best of the bunch) Still not a fan though. I would love to see UND continue on as they have the past few seasons. North Dakota!

That is fair. Any based on who I have talked to there are plenty of Bison fans who are very open about how pumped they are for this. I don't think the small percentage of trolls on this board are fooling anyone.

I have to disagree with this. Maybe from an emotional aspect for a portion of the fanbase. But over the last several years NDSU has had some big regular season games, against high end talent. Games that have been important in deciding playoff games and where a team is seeded, not to mention some big FBS wins. I agree this is going to be a huge game for the majority of both fan bases, and I really do think the players will feed off of that energy to renew the rivalry, but to say this is the biggest regular season game the Bison have played since '03 seem wrong to me.

Exactly. Certainly hope this team lives up to the hype, because it could be a really fun year, especially with defense.

So does anyone know if we should expect Vashon Tucker to be an immediate impact? Sounds like he had some nice FBS offers, but will he compete right away or strictly backup? OR since he already took a year off would he still qualify to redshirt if they wanted him to?

UND will continue to be picked low until they prove they deserve to be picked higher. Hopefully that will come to fruition this year. Can't blame and media writer for picking Montana St high, they have been a successful team. I am personally very high on this team right now. I like how Bubba has coached, I like the players he is bringing in, and I think this season will be another good step forward. That being said, taking the right steps is not enough for a writer to hand them a high ranking and outstanding record (though I do think he low balled their record). Ultimately, this is a season to take the next step and surprise some people. Put up some good wins on the field and UND won't be as overlooked next season.

Can't wait for the University to be rid of that guy. Just keep appeasing the PC crowd.

Anyone hear anything new on Matthews? Likely would not land at UND, but I haven't seen anything new on his work permit in Switzerland, or if he will opt for the WHL or NCAA.
