Any new practice or player updates? I know there were some injuries to the RBs in camp, mostly minor .. do we expect everyone to be back and ready against Wyoming? I know Oliveira and Smith haven't had their shirts pulled (yet), will they make the trip? Anything new on the QB front; I know Studsrud will start, but how has he looked? Is he continuing to build chemistry with receivers? Is he looking more consistent? Or are we still seeing small mistakes and missed receivers? I don't expect him to be Braeden Hanson, but it would be nice to have a competent air game, especially against a young WYO defense.

Good clarification, I think alot of people just assume this is like a rolled ankle. Its not. If they think he may be able to play against Weber, I wouldn't expect this to be overly severe, BUT I've seen this be a lingering issue with some NFL player. You hear they have a high ankle sprain, and their return can be 2 weeks or 10 weeks. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens, but for this kid's sake, and his future, I hope he heals and gets back on the field soon. A lot of eyes on him this season. https://www.aofas.org/footcaremd/conditions/ailments-of-the-ankle/Pages/High-Ankle-Sprain.aspx How long is the recovery? As mentioned above, the recovery for high ankle sprains can take considerably longer than typical ankle sprains. In fact, it can take six to seven weeks before athletes return to play. In those cases in which a separation of the tibia and fibula or fracture has occurred and surgery is necessary, patients will likely need to be nonweightbearing in a cast followed by a walking boot for about 12 weeks. It is important to do early range of motion passively, meaning with the help of a therapist that moves the ankle, so help avoid stiffness. The screws are commonly taken out in a second, small surgery before full weightbearing is allowed so they will not break. Outcomes are generally good if the injury is recognized and treated appropriately. It is more likely, however, to have some stiffness of the ankle after a high ankle sprain as compared to a standard ankle sprain. This is especially true if a fracture has occurred.

I suppose this is heavily due to Bohl implementing his own recruits into his own system. I know there are a lot of people on this site that dislike Bohl, but it is definitely hard to argue against what he did for the Bison. It will be interesting to see if he can do the same thing for Wyoming over the next 3-5 years. If he can turn the Cowboys into a winning and competitive program, it will be interesting to see which programs start calling him for the next step ( A lot of "ifs" there, I know) Hopefully, this inexperience shows this weekend and UND comes out with a win!

I assume Wentz will play against UND, even if not at 100% and you have to wonder how that will play into UND's scheme. I'm sure that front 7 will be highly motivated to get to the QB.

I've hear really positive things about Easton Stick too. It would be really tough coming in to play for the Bison, especially when there is already the pressure of being 0-1, but I have heard he is very capable.

Was there ever a definitive answer on the Hartness twins? Are either of them actually still on the team?

Agreed, if chase was a UND player, everyone on this thread would be screaming for action against the fan. Good to see that MOST (unfortunately not all) people on here can see that Morlock didn't do anything wrong through their fan bias. I'm not a Bison fan, but lets call it what it is ... a dumb fan. Morlock could have done way more than he did, which would have been uncalled for, but pushing the fan off as he did was completely justified. Well played by him, hope the school identifies the fan and administers some level of punishment.
-
the video I saw, in which it was tough to see any incident, it looks like the Grizz fan jumped and grabbed morlock face, them he more shoved/threw the guys off. I didn't see him wind up and throw a punch. Not what you want your player to do, but not a situation your player should be in. Fans belong in the stands, not on the field, and of they are really going to go celebrate on the field, thenjoying celebrate ... don't harass and antagonize the players.

extremely entertaining game. Bison D gave uo a few too many big plays, but Montana looked really solid too. Fun one to watch.

NCAA To Sanction UND if School Does Not Adopt New Nickname
siouxfan512 replied to Benny Baker's topic in UND Nickname
Yeah, I saw the email above, right after I posted that. Very disappointing, I guess I'll throw for Roughriders. Really don't care at this point .... anything but SunDogs. Still going to be Fighting Sioux for me. -

Whether you did or did not like the idea of UND/North Dakota/No Nickname as an option; the way the committee the president handled that piece of the process was pathetic. Should have either been scratched at the beginning, or left to the final vote not flipped back an forth as it was through the process. Pretty pathetic. -

Is there a link to this information? -
I was just going to ask about that. What is the deal with the Hartness kids?
-
Miller just posted the depth chart. I don't see Smith listed anywhere except the pronunciation guide. It will be interesting to see what happens there.

Anything on Iwarri Smith yet? Though he would be getting the redshirt pulled, but I haven't seen his name pop up yet.

Basing my comments completely off of what I have read, as I haven't seen any of these guys recently. Studsrud - recruited by this staff, and finished the season strong last season. Sounds like he is the most mobile guy, which could help buy some time for receivers. Mollberg - I think this would have been a much tougher decision (assuming Studsrud is the starter) if Mollberg hadn't been injured. I'm sure as he continues feeling more comfortable on that leg, he will get his chance. Especially if Studrud struggles at all Bartles - Seems like this guy just can't find any consistency. Big strong kid and throws a nice deep ball, but never seems to really control the game or seperate from his competition. I have read several times through fall camp that a receiver made a nice deep catch, which usually seem to come from Bartles. Need this guy to find more of the 5-15 yard plays, and keep the chains moving. Not sure if he just has trouble finding receiver, but this guy needs to have some more consistency. Again, these comments are based mostly on what I have read, and from what I have seen in the past. Frankly, I could care less who starts, just want to see them get the job done, and get more of a passing game than last season. Any word on how Heidlebaugh (spelling?) has done this fall? Would be nice to have him groomed for this team in a few years. Sounds like a really big kid.

to get back on track .... Anyone know much about this new QB WYO has? They all seem pretty high on him, and I think we have seen first hand what a solid transfer QB can accomplish in the right situation, from what Braeden Hanson did here.
-
Pure speculation based on what has been said about these guys. And immaturity in this sense isn't necessarily a bad thing against them. I though about going to Moorhead St to wrestle in college. Decided I had enough of that part of my life, and wanted a different college experience. No shame is deciding that college sports isn't a route they wanted to take.

Yeah, I'm not going to say that we couldn't get blown out. To be fair, some of them are looking at our getting dominated by SJSU last fall, in which we did get throttled by a pretty poor Spartans team (who did beat Wyoming). BUT it was also the first game under a new coach, along with a significant number of freshman. My best guess, is that both teams have improved, and I just don't see this being a blowout either way. This is also a WYO team that beat MT 17-12, while we only lost to MT 18-15. Direct comparisons don't always tell the tale, but the bottom line is, that there is nothing that WYO has done to indicate that they are dominant enough to flatten anyone. I think this game will come down to matchups. From what I read, it sounds like they are really strong on the run, which should play into our strength on D. Even if they do want to "chuck the pigskin", I still think we are pretty solid on D. Key for UND will be to get a lead early and control the clock.
-
Haha well go tell them that.
-
That's a shame. Although I would be willing to bet that when they get some workers in their to clean the place up, it will be the most people in that arena since the last time UND was there. But seriously, hope they get it cleaned up soon.

Pretty funny stuff on the Wyonation blogs. Most, not all, believe that UND will absolutely get steamrolled. I agree that Wyoming is definitely the favorite, but by no mean should the prediction be a 30pt WYO win. Do I expect UND to go in an win this game, based on where they were last year. Not necessarily. I would like to see us go in and be competitive and give ourselves a chance to win. Just surprised me how good WYO fans expect to be, and how terrible they expect UND to be. Almost as if they are playing a D3 school. Aside from the actual game, there is chatter about how UND stole the interlocking ND from Notre Dame. Also really funny to see a few of the Bison fans that go onto the Wyoming/UND thread, just to bash UND. Almost like because Bohl is coaching there, they are all buddies. Bison fans apparently know the ins and outs of UNDs roster and their strength and weaknesses from last season. Though I would have figured most of these same posters would also admit they wouldn't watch a UND game because it would be a waste of their time. It amazes me, the lengths and some (not all) Bison fans will go just to rag on UND (a school that these some poster claim they don't have a rivalry with anymore)

This is kind of the impression I got of them, based on different stories from people on the message boards who knew them. Sounds like they were good high school athletes but never the most committed. Probably want more to enjoy college and friends and good times than to play football. Understandable, but too bad. I know they were not scholarship athletes, but it sounded like they could have been pretty good if they had put the work in.
