No thanks. I like Bubba, but the guy couldn't run a successful football team and we want to hand him a whole department of athletics. Not interested. Give me someone with a little more background, potential and longevity.
-
Everyone seemed pumped about him when he committed, but I haven't heard anything about him since he got here. Maybe I'm missing something.
-
If KSU is going white, I'd say go all green. Or green Jersey, grey pants and grey helmet.
-
I tried looking earlier but couldn't find much. Was Noland highly recruited? Competing offers? Was this a guy people were excited about right away, or was he just "a guy" we landed, who is looking to be really good really early?
-
Yeah, I tried finding something with a google search ... checked two different boards and haven't seen anything for next weekend.
-
could you elaborate?

I think whichever team scores the most points on Saturday is going to win the game! 😆
-
Nah, I think we clearly want the same thing, but NDSU's success is in rare air. Even though that sucks to say. Would love to see UND do what NDSU and SDSU have done!

Agreed on all fronts ... the FCS landscape should make it possible for quicker turnarounds if the right guy in charges know how to put the pieces together. I think Schmidt is better equipped to do this compared to Bubba. He has been with bigger programs that know how to win and can bring some of that mentality. I also think that with that fresh mentality should come some more success on the road. That doesn't mean we are going to be winning at the Fargo Dome or The Dyke every year, but we should see more success in some of those games that we seem to lose that leave us scratching our heads. Youngstown, Indiana St, Illinois St., UNI, USD .... and yeah, it is time to get a win IN Fargo.

Only call out here, is you are also referencing 4 guys who are in the NFL. Whole heartedly agree with running the ball, but these guys also do way more than just handing it off.
-
Etienne Higgins looks like he is in his 30s! Probably mostly the beard, but it made me laugh.
-
... and I'm hoping it won't even take a few years! but realistically, it could to get the right pieces in place. There is not magical solution to flip the switch, or we would go back and have transitioned to D1 at the same time as SU. Monumental mistake by UND, but its over and done. Lets see what Schmitty can do!

Anyone know when the two deep will come out?

I hate to break it to you, but we ain't ndac. The truth hurts! We all want that, we could certainly get there, but we're not them. Wanting it isn't enough. The admin has taken the right steps. Facilities, coaching change, you can see recruiting improving, but the whole process takes time. Yes, you can argue 20 years is time ... but I'm talking time with the new staff. A loss this weekend doesn't deter what I think of this team potential (depending on how they play). A win this weekend, gives me hope for this team's potential, but far from crowns us as national champs or even MVFC champs. In other words, I think we need to settle down a bit, regardless of how our first-year coach does against a B12 program while he is trying to build us up. Anything else is a major overreaction. You also have to compare the opponents. I have no idea how K State did that year, and I really don't care. I watched a bit of the game this past weekend, and while they had some miscues, they are still going to be very tough and very physical. Watch out for Osunsami! He looked fast and physical! O line better be up to the job or we may see more than one QB for the wrong reasons. Avery Johnson, didn't look the part early, but still finished with almost 300 yards passing, 2 TDs and a rushing TD to boot. My point being that the product of this game comes down to far more than whomever is under center for UND. I do agree with you that we need to be able to run it down their throat (who says that isn't the coach's mentality?), which will not be easy. They did a good job of stopping ISU early but couldn't do it all game. O-Line will need to get some push, and we need Ziebarth to be ready for a battle as he is our physical back. Then you hope we can open some holes for Seidl and Leigh to break through. If Langama is ready to go and can do some damage, get him some reps.

Not anticipating the upset, but hope we show some surprises in our play. IF the upset were to happen, would Klieman be out, or just pushed to the hot seat? Just reading some articles about how upset fans are with him. Not saying that is justified or not, I don't know squat about his situation, but losing to UND after losing the opener wouldn't be a good look for K-State, who is built for better than an 0-2 start. Thoughts?

I'm not saying you're wrong ... but I will point out that your key image is one play in a kid's first collegiate start against on the road and against a BIG12 team. Again, not disputing concerns over Simon, just pointing out that your "go to" example may have more factors than simply what he is and is not capable of. That being said, I know there were other misses throughout the year. Often it seemed he was just short and throwing awkwardly to get it over the line. I don't know ... I'm not QB expert, but I would be more intrigued by some of the other QBs in the room. That being said, I'm not a coach, I'm not watching them every day and I haven't bike past a practice.

Haven't really heard much about a few of the new guys. It will be nice to see a depth chart soon! Frankfather - Juco kid, but was excited about the pickup. Has he made any traction, or will he be buried? Devereaux - Assuming he won't start, but should we expect to see him get some playing time? Higgins - I know he won't push for playing time at QB, but I haven't even heard his name. Is he getting reps or anything? Kicker - Is there any competition here, or is this already locked up for Elrichs? Tight Ends - With what we had and the additions from Missouri St and Wyoming, do we anticipate actually passing to the TE more? Or are these guys just filling roles and blocking? Henry - D Line has been a pain point for years, always undersized and outmatched. With the change in defensive schemes, do we see Tyler Henry being an impact player, or a depth guy? D back - I believe I've seen Walker and Lewis mentioned here and there, what about Robinson ... any insight on where he factors in?

I don't disagree, though until I see some more of Seidl, it's tough to compare him [or anyone] to Santiago. That kid was one of my absolute favorites to watch, especially when he had the Grady Train blocking for him (what could have been). Ziebarth is a stud too, and his numbers may be better than Oliveira's were, but Oli was splitting time big with Santiago. Regardless, I think Ziebarth and Seidl could be a pretty dynamic duo if used correctly, and when you through Xavier in the mix, nobody may have crazy numbers because of the split reps, but you have a pretty full stable if they can stay healthy. The guy I was really excited about when he committed was Colton Brunell, but he seems to be a bit buried right now. If I remember correctly, there was some talk that he needed to build up his legs last year and get stronger, so maybe being buried a bit isn't a bad thing. Hopefully we have some games where he can get some work late and he can step into a bigger role once Z and X are gone. I see Grant Romfo moved to TE, so I assume that has to do with wanting to keep him on the team more than anything. Very undersized and it sounds like we have added some pretty decent TE to the mix (hopefully we use them).

Oh I'm not totally complaining. I get it, the material is limited, I'm just anxious for actual football to start so there is more to pay attention to. Same for the 360 guys ... only so much to talk about and interview for, but i'm always anxious to hear more.
-
They always leave me wanting more, never enough real content. Not sure how much there really is to report on, but this time of year, I'll read anything related to UND Football. That being said I haven't seen and updates from Miller since the middle of last week.

Thanks for the write up. I've never been one to really follow soccer at any level, but with my daughters being way into playing youth travel soccer, I'm trying to follow a bit more. I'll keep watching for your write ups!

I really am hitting the point of, "I don't care who starts". Simon - We feel like we have already watched that episode ... but maybe this year would be better. Healed up, new coaching, different approach, better receivers. Jerry - We have been wondering what he can do for a few years JTJ - The new shiny toy Sulik - Let him develop and grow his game. I just want some UND football and I want to see us win. Jerry and JTJ may have been tools and higher ceilings, but if they can't play consistent, maybe that isn't the option. I'm sure the coaches have a decent pulse of what is going one based on what they are seeing day in and day out.

We have a basketball forum? ...I kid, I kid!

This is where you would like to get in a position where you can get more than one QB some game time experience. There are those guys that look one way in practice but can change gears and perform differently when they are in a true game time scenario. I don't know if that is true for our guys or not, but it would nice to see a few of these guys get decent situational reps.

Have you seen him at all? Assuming he can actually run. I remember hoping Q was going to have some running ability, but anything longer than the tush push and he moved like molasses.
