Is that why they hide in their holes when a physical team comes to town? Has the NCAA rejected the appeal yet?
-
I agree! We can call him Custer! And, when he comes on the field leading the Cav football players, the announcer can say "Heeeerree comes Custer leading another successful Cavalry charge!!!"
-
NICE. However, the ND State Police Organizations would then be up in arms because Police officers and State Troopers are officers of peace, not war. The question I still have is: If they reject the appeal (highly likely) and we lose the court case, forcing us to change the name (if I understand this correctly), how does this affect the REA?

My thoughts are simpler than Belmore vs. Manke or whomever. I want a QB who can throw down the field and is willing to do so. HOWEVER, there's nothing saying Belmore isn't that QB. So, I modify this to say, I wanta QB with an OCord who is willing and able to throw down the field more than 10 yards. I'm tired of short pass, run, screen as the three plays on offense.

You know, I wouldn't mind a yearly contest vs. GVSU. They seem like a good club with decent people. My bro goes to med school with a former GVSU football player. Oddity I know, but he's a lineman and he is extremely intelligent. I only met him once and I'm bad with names. If a GVSU fan reads this and is interested, I'll ask my bro who it is and you can do the research. Just PM me if you really feel like you need to know

Maybe a slight tangent, but: If UND sues and wins, what will happen? I mean, what exactly will UND be seeking remedy of besides the breach of contract on the regionals?
-
It's generally growing more and more expected that the NCAA is going to reject the appeal. And when they do, the lawsuit will begin. Hopefully, the lawsuit will be such a financial burden to the NCAA that they'll be forced to realize that it's going to cost a lot of money to pick on schools for reasons that they really have no right to get involved in. But PCM is right, but even if he is, it's not going to matter. As far as I'm concerned that minority of a minority is winning.

All this prolonging of the resolution! It's driving me nuts!

Here's the makeup of the Bison as for any pro attention: Bear in mind that most of these players, though they may have gotten drafted, are now technically free agents under the new CBA. Also, CIAU/CIS is where Major junior players go when they couldn't get signed by pro teams hoping just to hold on a little longer. Grant Jacobsen (Center) was a 9th round pick by the Blues in 2001 Travis Eagles (Center) was a 7th round pick by the Panthers in 1999 David Cameron (Center) was a 3rd round pick by the Penguins in 1998 Warren McCutcheon (Forward) was an 8th round pick by the Devils in 2000 That's it. Jordan Little, though has some fame if I recall correctly as he was on that Canadian reality tv show on hockey. Also, Gidney, a defenseman, played for NMU before coming to Manitoba. I really think this team is all size and no skill

Double post I know, but I hope those 2 5'7" players play. One of them is a defenseman! Could you imagine Finley meeting up with one of those guys? Despite it would assuredly be a 2 minute penalty for contact to the head roughing or something like that, it would be spectacular.
-
How fast people forget Schneiders end to end run and a score. I don't think the Bison will be any problem for the Sioux. They're big, but they have to conform to NCAA rules, so their game plan has to be modified. THat forces them to skate. Though some of our guys are big, Hak likes to recruit guys who can skate too. I don't think this game will be that difficult.
-
I don't think that we have any true walk ons this year. Only recruited ones (Alexander, Walski, and Martens). Of those, Alexander baffles me the most. But Hak knows better than I.
-
I think that would be hilarious, personally. Although, if they called themselves the Yeshiva University Fighting Goyim, I'm thinking no one would get the joke anyways except for Jews who know Yiddish. BTW- Goyim means "Gentiles" or "NonJews" I'll let you history buffs figure out the irony in the nickname.
-
Yup. I wonder if they'll announce it on Monday and get it over with or will they wait longer and drag it until December 31st (if they could)
-
THough I'd expect attitudes such as this to pop up, I don't think that should happen. Yes, there will be MANY hard feelings if UND or any on the list is forced to change their nickname. However, punishing people who may not have been involved in the decision, especially future generations, is hardly fair.
-
Maybe so, but there are two things NDSU will never have that UND will: 1. The Nickel Trophy. We won it, it's ours. Too bad. Stealing it now would be considered punishable by law, not a prank. 2. A true DI National Championship. Ok, so this is a hockey reference, but I doubt I'll see NDSU playing Minnesota, Wisconsin, Boston College, Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, or Miami of Ohio too often. I know NDSU managed to get on Minnesota's schedule somewhere down the road, but how many times will that happen? Is that game even going to count? What path does NDSU currently have to take to win the DI-AA Football championship?

It's a good read however, I do wish they had polled more Native Americans.
-
Yeah, I know. But then you'd be rich and too important for a message board like this.

It's why you are a sudo-master of language and I'm just pedestrian

I do hope you're right. He did look great in spots last year. However, Strouth had his moments against Weschester.... I'd rather have both than just one.
