True, but things are different in the Frozen Four. We lost by 3 goals or so to a offensively "weak" team ourselves the past two years by that logic. There are ways to rattle Reichmuth's cage. We learned that from interviews with different Sioux players (I can't remember who it was ). However, I do believe that great goaltending is a byproduct of good defense. In the case of last year and the FF appearance, it did not appear like UMD was playing good team D. And Denver has this uncanny ability to know just where to be at the right time.

IIRC, the past two years, the Sioux have played awfully well against the Bulldogs. That being said, wasn't this terrible goaltender (Reichmuth) the one that helped get them to the Frozen Four?

Judging by what was said about him, his performance at previous rookie camps, and the hype surrounding him, his situation appears to be pretty close to the same that David Hale saw when he signed with New Jersey. Therefore, I have no doubt that his AHL season this year, if he goes to the AHL at all, will be very brief.

I misrepresented that last paragraph. I saw him when he was in high school (Breck and Team Minny). I was referring to his stats in the USHL. I will fix my post. All I know about Miller is that he was a role player when I watched him play vs. Team Minny (He also didn't stand out much) and that he tore up his rotator cuff last season in the USHL. I have no idea where he's at with his recovery and how that injury will affect his game.

Really? I thought this was a thread about wishing Greene well! We'll be just fine. The season isn't over yet. The NCAA hasn't awarded the NC to the Goophs yet. Best of luck Greene! Kick some ass at the next level!

I'm like George W. Bush. I'm the guy that everyone likes to blame for everything. Why do I say what I do about Wheeler? Well... I admit he had a pretty good "career" at Breck, but the two times I've seen him play, once in Breck and once on Team Minny NW, he seemed tentative (Breck) or nonexistant (Team Minny). Actually, Team Minny was a regional all star team IIRC. I watched them play Shattuck. Sure, Shattuck has some top tier players, but they aren't an all star team really. Why couldn't the all star team do anything against Shattuck? Only Dowzak was as tall or taller than WHeeler on the ice. There were even players like Deeth and Duncan on the ice that Wheeler should have been able to toss off of him like pesky flies. Instead, he basically was a tall guy skating around looking generally lost and unimpressive. Sure, he's got talent, but from when I viewed him and his stats and figures in the USHL he's not a top 10 draft pick. Not even Stafford or Parise were top 10 draft picks and they have done far more before coming to UND than Wheeler has. Sure, Wheeler might prove me wrong, but at best, I see Wheeler as being the highest drafted third or fourth liner out there. Kessel and Stoa are the new Gopher scoring threats. From what I've seen of WHeeler, you'd think he was a defenseman.

Reichmuth looked pretty darned good to me in the past. Are you sure you aren't thinking SCSU goaltending?

Perhaps not, but it sure would make a great Made for Disney movie!

1. This is a publicity stunt. His rep as a player, to the league, will hopefully make him a good coach. This means he'll be great again and people will place said butts in seats. The difference between this publicity stunt and others is that, potentially, Gretzky could very well be a good coach. After all, he's already got GM experience (everyone except the PHX GM truly understands that Wayne is the GM of the Coyotes). 2. - 6. Agreed 7. Would you expect anything less? Gretzky IS Canadian hockey! The PHX publicity will only serve to double Team Canada's publicity in this move.

How about the "fighting No Names" Or perhaps "UND Fighting Offensive Nickname"

Even so, I'm still debating how much I care. He was a great player, but outside of that, he's yet to prove anything off the ice. Well, he was good at whining and he did see something in some players that no other coach, GM, or scout did. Well, anyways, good for Phoenix. Hopefully is name won't be the only great thing about his coaching career.

Is it something with the number? It seems lately that whomever wears the number 11 turns into a fan favorite. In any case, I really like Sparky and what's scary is that he's going to only get better!

I find it interesting that St. Louis has had to defend Oshie's selection. If they didn't select him, Edmonton would have. It seems to me that Oshie would have gone in the first round regardless of what the critics said.

I agree with PCM. I highly doubt Hak would come on the airwaves while Greene hasn't yet signed and said "Nope, Greene isn't coming back." No one would be surprised when he does go pro, even if it happens today or tommorrow. But I would be surprised if Hakstol didn't think of the school first and pro careers second. As far as he is concerned, Greene is coming back until the ink dries on the contract. That's my take on it.

Last I checked, Hale was a restricted free agent that had been tendered a qualifying offer from NJ. Don't know if that means he signed it or whatnot.

The question was answered in a circuitous way, but answered nonetheless.

I like the "Who's Yer Daddy" chant but instead say: "Check your jockstrap!"

With my cynicism towards the WCHA officials glowing brightly at the moment, a though occurred to me: Anderson and Shepherd have never been one to only send one when they could get two... So I change my vote! Finley and Jones go 5 minutes into the first period on Oct. 8th. Typical bs penalties, but ones that will most suredly please the home crowd of CCHA fans.

I already said it in the goal thread, but Finley will get it. 1 second into his shift. Todd Anderson will watch him step onto the ice and immediately call obstruction-interference on him just because he's so big. Seriously though, Finley first 5 minutes of his ice time. 2 minutes contact to the head- elbowing.
