I can't imagine all those delay of game penalties.

I agree that scoring consistency has been a problem thus far, yes. However, it's been a team problem, not just Kozek's. He's been flying all over the place and has been very close so many times. Despite this recent drought, goals have been coming more than going compared to last year.
-
I don't follow you. How is Kozek's standings among UND goal scorers a problem? Last year, he wasn't scoring enough. This year, he's doing well and suddenly it's a problem?
-
I like this set up. I only put Genoway at forward because of the coaching staff said they didn't want to sit Marto.
-
I notice that everyone moves Kozek (or keeps Kozek) on the third line. Why? Kozek has more goals than Duncan and has contributed more to the team this year than any of his previous years. Yzerman19's suggestions are ok, but I think putting Kozek on that line with his wrist shot and his physical play may actually do better than Kaip. I like Kaip where he is: On the third line heading up the checking line. Put him (or keep him) with Malone and either Watkins or Zajac. As for the fourth line, I'd say we need to give them a reason to be on the ice. So, despite his good performance, I'd put Genoway on that line with Forney (Yes, Forney) and Trupp. I know Kozek hasn't worked out on the scoring lines in past years, but in the past years, he hasn't produced as much as he has. So, my lines would look like (I didn't pay much attention to which Wing a player would play or, in the case of the 4th line, who'd play Center): Frattin-Oshie-Kozek Watkins-VV-Duncan Malone-Kaip-Zajac/Trupp Trupp/Zajac-Genoway-Forney

I recall few instances in which being referred to as the type of a player that is our current Captain and leader on our team as "an insult." But hey, whatever it takes.
-
Yeah, but usually it's the person whose name bears his name that is brunt of it. So, I guess Brad Miller will have that honor soon?
-
How did this thread go from complimenting Brad Malone to needed line changes and how much certain players "suck?"
-
I agree. I also question those who question Kozek's effort thus far this year. His actions baffled me at the end of the second period last night, but take that away and he's been very consistent all season long. And, believe it or not, he currently has more goals (6) than Duncan (5)! If Kozek continues to play the way he has so far for the rest of the season, he'll be UND's most improved player hands down...and that's saying a lot considering how well Finley and Kaip have played.

Sell out!

1. Hakstol criticizes the officials and gets fined. I don't think UND needs any more contraversy even of the most minor of varieties these days. 2. Uh... Woog, Masucko, and everyone in the world called it offsides. If Gopher homers are calling it offsides, then there's something to the allegations, don't you think? Oh, and let's pretend it was correctly called and the game went into OT. I'm pretty darn certain the best UND could have hoped for in that scenario was a tie. They weren't going to win it with the crap they put on the ice last night regardless, so it's a moot point.
-
That was my point exactly.
-
I didn't hear the first one but the second one about calling Genoway Colby is hardly an insult or even unprofessional. Doug Woog has a history with mispronouncing names. To this day he can't say "Lundbohm" or "Rastislav" and it is somewhat endearing. And being called your brother's name is hardly insulting to begin with. I think Woog did a pretty good job this weekend considering how he was treated while he was in the public eye.

Hey Happy, Remind me... with that justification..... Chucko never scored a single goal for the Gophers, right? When Oshie scored that goal, the first thing out of my mouth was: "HOLY COW! A CHUCKO SPECIAL!" So, go ahead, tell me none of those goals that happened to "bounce" off of Chucko's skate into the net are goals. They were and Oshie's was too. Anyways, solid lack of effort tonight. Surprised to see we ended up the night only down one goal. We played like we should have been down 10. Seriously...what's it going to take to put two consecutive games together against the same team? We go on the road against UNH right? So, we'll lose two games consecutively before beating UNH on saturday? Seriously, this trend is retarded. And it was nice to know that Minnesota let us get back into the game at the end. I seriously thought they'd be greedy and not make all those mistakes. This ship needs to get fixed up. NOW.

Just to save Lammy's stats, I say put Walski in. This game is lost. Pathetic. VERY pathetic. I bet Kozek is gone for the game. Malone and LaPoint will be serving time to start the period. Seriously, even with these guys sitting its not like: 1. We can complete a pass 2. We can stop turnovers 3. We can give Lammy the Team D he needs 4. We can beat the Gophers to the puck 5. We can cycle the puck (see #1) Maybe we can make this third period interesting. But, as far as I'm concerned, this game's in the books. Good win by the Gophers.

With the buzzer marks the end of the game for the Sioux. They try to start a brawl and basically decide to call it quits. What a crappy game. This may go down as at best the second worst game of the season for the Sioux.
-
I disagree. They still look terrible. Please tell me I'm wrong. Regardless of time, I want to be wrong when I say, "The Sioux are playing not to win." Seriously sloppy.
-
I'm wondering when they'll start completing passes. The Sioux look pathetic. It's almost like they said "Well, we won last night. That's good enough for us."
-
Now what we've got to do is simply: PLAY F-ING HOCKEY! SHOOT the puck, simplify our game plan, and practice fundamental hockey (that means pass the puck to our own guy).
-
First off, I agree. The Gopher D did not look good all night long. TH said on the radio that Fairchild and Bickel at times looked starstruck, but the Sioux were unable to capitolize on it. The Gopher defense is young, true. The Gopher defense looks very good in the offensive zone, which is par for the course with how Lucia runs the team and recruits. However, they are not very physical and not very responsible in their own end, which means the Siouc can press and take advantage of it. Second, I agree about Frazee. He only let in one seriously bad goal (Watkins' goal). The rest were products of bad defense. I'm also concerned about him from the aspect of a pro future. I like the Devils now (almost as much as I like the Red Wings) and Frazee, if he stayed all four years, would end up entering at a tme where he could concievably be named the heir apparent to Brodeur. However, this guy can't even dominate against top opponents in NCAA. I had him taking over he #1 job by January his freshman year based upon what I saw in international competitions I had the pleasure to watch. The fact that Sievlen Briggs was able to maintain that title was telling. I'm starting to wonder if Frazee has much of a future at all in hockey. Say what you will about him now at Minnesota, but he does have talent.

I'm not going to ague most of your points because they are mostly valid. One thing I will disagree with you is regarding parents towards their children. Every day while I was on UND's campus I'd run across guys my age or a little younger who dropped obscenities left and right "F-ing this and f that" and it was just as bad at the games. Far be it for me to preach that students need to be angels, but we should not encourage outright stupidity. Parents try their hardest to bring up their kids in a respectful manner. Teaching them that it is ok to swear in whatever situation just doesn't cut it. And, when they are doing that and the kids hear people swearing they want to know why those people are allowed to swear and they are not. Also just why they are swearing and people are laughing at times about it may baffle them and cause the parents undue grief trying to explain how that is an apparent fun that their kids cannot be a part of. I may sound like a hypocrite, but I'm ok with some swearing but I'm not going to tolerate it if there are young ears about. I've seen games in the Old Ralph and, yeah, they were pretty loud and vulgar, but they always (in my presence anyways) seemed to only take it to a certain point. The didn't chant F the Gophers 30+ times. They switched it up. A lot of my favorite chants didn't have obscenities in them (Black hole chant for example) a few did (Chanting the official's name Suck Bleep, and the Mickey Mouse chant). However, I do think we can be creative and not obscene if we really tried.
-
Interesting. So, if Snider couldn't play anyways until next semester, then that means they'd still have two eligible goaltenders and, hence, would still have to forfeit the game should Walski and JPL go down anyways. If what you were told were true, then why bring Snider in before January?
-
I am inclined to agree with "The Walrus" even though I've participated in that chant in the past. It's amusing at first and maybe a few short times afterwards, but no chant is really good over long stretches of time. I think that's why I love the "black hole" chant. I've gone to numerous Sioux games and I've only heard that chant perhaps a dozen or so times. The thing that gets me was already mentioned. Throwing stuff on the ice (provided they aren't hats after a hat trick) is wholly unnecessary. It is both stupid and embarrassing. It is detrimental to the team too. What is remarkable tonight is that we got away with only a warning. The warning was issued and then more debris came onto the ice after Campion went and warned everyone. I'm very surprised we didn't get 2 minutes for delay of game. Campion could have called it and it would have been justifiable too. Stupid people piss me off.
-
Anyone surprised that there hasn't been much of a response from the Sioux tribes about this? I thought they'd release another "pity us" statements and then say "We said No, we mean it. We don't care what some hockey coach has to say!" Or something like that.
-
That's hogwash, Sicatoka. Anyone who has ever heard the likes of GK, Fharakhan (sp?), Jesse Jackson, and so on speak knows that the term "racist" can only describe a white person. Black people spouting Anti-white slurs are just voicing their frustration at some perceived oppression or injustice. Native American people spouting anti-white slurs are just voicing their frustrations for the same reason. We'll just have to come to grips with the fact that it is ok for Blacks, Native Americans, and other minorities to be Anti-White but it is NOT ok for the opposite, be interpreted as the opposite, or disagree with the way those minorities operate with regards to minority issues.
