  1. My take. I'm not a hockey expert, but I play one on message boards! I went into the year thinking that while UND would not have the go to line that we have had the past few years that we had the talent and depth to be able to roll 4 lines out there that would be better than most teams number 2 lines and that we would need to play with speed and pace to take advantage of this depth and wear other teams out and force their 3rd and 4th lines to play more minutes and this would ultimately lead to UND wearing teams down over the course of the game. Unfortunately with the stricter enforcement of obstruction and interference which would have helped us greatly in the past, has not helped us this season and not because calls are going against us or in our favor, but the excessive calls have killed the pace in so many games and all the stops in play and faceoffs have negated our depth advantage as all the breaks in play allow everyone to get extra rest and depth does not become as much of a factor as it could be. That said, when we have had a favorable pace in games, we are missing empty nets, making poor "payoff" passes and fumbling scoring opportunities and that needs to improve. These next 4 non-conference games are huge and we need to relax and let shots go and try and force the pace to take advantage of speed and aggression and get on track for the stretch run....if that fails Plan B Load up 2 lines with the most talented offensive players(Duncan, VDV, Hextall, Toews, Gregiore, and either Trupp or Kozek) we have instead of trying to balance our lines and tell the other 6 forwards dressed each night that their main job is to not get scored on, it's ugly, but it allowed Minnesota to be competitive last season and has worked with varying degrees of success for Wisconsin over the years and seeeed to work out OK for us in 1997.
  2. Not arguing any of that. When players don't perform they get benched and are held accountable. when refs screw up and don't know the rules of the game they get paid to ref they get suspended or at least have in the past? Just wondering if Daddy Shep will hold his kid to the same standards that he held Randy Schmidt to last year?
  3. UND player played the puck with a high stick, not arguing that. As soon as Eidsness touches the puck the play is dead. For them to allow the goal, they have to rule that Eidsness never even touched the puck.
  4. So will Shep suspend his kid and Marco Hunt for incorrectly allowing a goal last night after looking at the replay, ala Randy Schmidt?
  5. Belfour? Really?
  6. Gonna be tough for the Sioux to cover? 11 point dog today
  7. Well Bowser from Sha na na is probably more entertaining anyway.
  8. Looks like Cableone forgot to flip the switch from infomercials. Brutal
  9. is this game on fssn?
  10. Sioux were up 34-23 with 8 minutes to go in the half, then Wyoming went on a 28-4 run to go in at halftime up 51-38. One player for Wyoming has 24 with 6 3 pointers....might want to get hand in her face?
  11. Guess I missed that? Maybe you could pull up that quote for me? I don't like coaches complaining about officials after a game in general. Now I know they did show the play that had Muss a little excited that led to S. ill getting a long TD instead of having to punt in a 2 score game at the time and any coach who could ignore that play doesn't have a pulse, it was without a doubt as flagrant of a hold as you could possible have...the kind of missed call that usually gets a referee the next week off.
  12. That's not possible. That crap only happens when the Sioux are involved.
  13. Won 36, Lost 32
  14. Funny. I usually wince when I scroll down and see DaveK in the upper left hand of my computer screen.
  15. Usually Eddie goes on these shows and it's the fact that he is an intellectual lightweight that results in him being made to look like a total d-bag. This time he apparently decided to beat them to the punch and make a total d-bag out of himself with very little help?
  16. Is he coming back to UND next year or moving on?
  17. For the record, I would love to see this investigated and congressmen and congresswomen and senators and wall street execs under oath! Without getting political, I wish it could take place before November 4.
  18. But politicians only like investigations when they can stick it to the other party. Dems control congress let's see what they do. Key part of your statement right here! If the Dems had someone they could pin this on, they would already be having hearings...since they don't they just let the communication arm of the DNC(i.e, CNN, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, and CBS) vaguely apply the blame. They are not going to subpeona Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi anytime soon.
  19. Day off today. Watching Osh, Porter, and Blake on-line. Osh had a couple great shifts on the power play kill, Maple Leaf announcers were talking him up pretty good.
  20. Some people must have. Some people have not. But they
  21. No timing or chemistry.....yet! It'll come, but this is hard to watch. Last night the sioux won 47 out of 74 faceoffs and had a huge edge in power play time and...nothing. Winning faceoffs usually benefits the Sioux greatly, but it doesn't help if you win the draw and the first pass is rifled off the boards or all the way through the center of the ice.
  22. You mean how a previous administration "forced" banks into accepting these loans? I think it is amazing that we are now shocked and outraged to find out that people who had a past history of not paying their bills but were given "government mandated loans" are now not able to pay their mortgages.....and on the other side, the people getting commissions approving people who normally did pay their bills for 2 and 3 times the homes that they could afford.
  23. Please do not dissolve this into a political discusiion. EXPLAINING OUR UNITED STATES TAXING SYSTEM WITH BEER Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this: The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. 'Since you are all such good customers,' he said, 'I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beers by $20. Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.' The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?' They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so: The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings). The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28%savings). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings). Each of the six was better off than before and the first four continued to drink for free, but once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings. 'I only got a dollar out of the $20,' declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, 'but he got $10!' 'Yeah, that's right,'exclaimed the fifth man. 'I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got TEN times more than I!' 'That's true!!' shouted the seventh man. 'Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!' 'Wait a minute,' yelled the first four men in unison. 'We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!' The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something very important....they didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill! And that, boys and girls, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes DO get the most benefit from a tax reduction. They also PAY more than the rest. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.
  24. Hard to believe Player/Coach Reggie Dunlop has passed away. It always seemed like Paul Newman would live forever, but his body of work will!
  25. They do now? I was refreshing the scoreboard for that game and the SDSU game and originally it popped up as UNI winning, but now they have S. Ill winning! Good for Dale! I am happy to be wrong.
