At least around here we know that the Grand Forks Herald and Fargo Forum would never run a story as fact without fact checking first. Well I almost got that out with a straight face.

Don't smoke cigarettes myself. Just think that it is crazy that in the United States we tell a private business owner that he can't allow something that is legal in the United States to be done in his/her place of business. I do enjoy an occasional cigar so it's not like you can step outside in the winter for an hour to enjoy a cigar and a drink. Gregiore committed to go to DU in 2007 and had indicated that he preferred UND, but UND had given him a 2008 date to start. when DU changed their mind and told him they would like him to come in 2008 he changed his mind. That said I have little problem with a 15 year old kid and his family trying to do what they think is best for them whether it turns out to be the best decision or not. I think the fact that Blais has been outspoken on the issue with Jason Herter(Clarke's coach last season) on his staff speaks volumes to what jason and Dean think of his decision.

Actually I think you are both wrong. The Tribal council has a pretty good idea how the vote would turn out which is precisely why they took this action. From people I know who have ties to and have been or are currently a part of the Standing Rock reservation it would come in around 75-80% in favor of or not caring about the Sioux name at UND.

The only response that the nickname committee should make at this point is something along the lines of how unfortunate this is that the tribal council has decided to deprive their own people of an opinion on the matter and depending upon the results of the vote could have possibly sped up the committees decision on the Fighting Sioux nickname but as of now with the information we have to work with we will probably wait until the end of the 3 year period and at that time re-evaluate our agreeement with the NCAA and the courts on this issue and decide at that time if it is the right decision for UND to drop the Fighting Sioux nickname or if it is a better decision to accept NCAA santions at that time as we would still be a few years away from being affected by them. Again it is truly unfortunate that the Tribal Council has acted in a way that prevents a speedy resolution to this matter. Unless something changes, our next meeting and statement on this issue will be 1 month before the NCAA and Court decision is to go into effect. Thank You Now.

I think it depends on which CBA you are drafted under as far as one way or 2 way contracts go. I seem to remember Zach Parise getting credited for a full year when he left UND under his contract terms even though he didn't even play a game that year.

They obviously offered him a 2 way deal which means he gets squat. Most top 10 first round picks get guaranteed contracts when they sign. Yes Wayne screwed up when he picked Blake 3 rounds early but he didn't screw up twice and pay 4th or 5th round talent a guaranteed contract and got him to go elsewhere and replace him with(if they don't screw it up) a better prospect with the 35th pick in this years draft.
