I do agree that each team has a good chance of dancing in two years. What was especially amazing was the magnitude of this game and UND is led by 5 sophomores ( Huff, Anderson, Webb, Schuler and Brekke) and NDSU is also led by sophomores and a freshman. It gives very good hope to both schools of what can be achieved in the next 2 years if steady improvement is made. I still dont see this game being so ugly as alot of people claim. Both teams played hard defense and contested every shot. I guess when both teams play good defense the game may appear ugly cause many shots are missed but good defense wins games like any other sport. Goodluck to the Bison the rest of the year and hopefully both will be dancing in the future. Go Sioux

What a strange season so far. We have beat the the number 73 rpi team (SDSU) and the number 108 rpi team (NDSU) and the number 136 rpi team(Montana) all at home. We have lost to number 339 ( Sac State) and number 288 (Idaho State) and 229( UMKC) all on the road. What a difference home cooking has been for us this year. Once these young players figure out how to win on the road we may just be in the upper half of the RPI. The remainder of our schedule we play all lower half of the RPI teams. Not much chance for us to move up the ladder.

Greenteam, I know where you are coming from on your last paragraph and feel your pain. I have to agree with the last several posters about Huff. He played excellent defense and when his shots weren't falling he did not force the issue like he has in the past and instead worked the ball until someone on the team got an open shot. We do need Huff to score in the future games but hopefully after these last two games he understands more about what is a good shot and if his shot is not there find someone that is open. It was a total Team effort with everyone contributing in different ways. A player does not have to score alot in order to help a team win basketball games. Everyone brings different strenghs to the game and hopefully everyone is starting to understand this.

Agree with you 100%. I thought we took a huge step forward last night in alot of areas. Anderson continues to shoot great and stays under control, Schuler is always under control and never seems to make a bad decision with either his shots or passes, Brekke was a man the first 10 minutes of the game and totally dominated in the paint. I really like the fact that we basically stayed with 6 players the entire game. I mentioned in a post somewhere back that we needed to cut our roster down to 7-8 players max and the coaches did that with basically 6 last night. We had a much more TEAM concept last night and played that way for 40 minutes. It seemed like our defensive switches last night worked so much better and forced alot of so so shots by NDSU. Alot of people thought the game was ugly but it was a tough physical game that the officials allowed which caused alot of the misses. It was a GREAT game and both teams played hard and with alot of passion in front of a very good crowd for a Tuesday night. Go Sioux and lets get a road win this Saturday.

What a great game for the Sioux. Loved it when the students came onto the floor and surrounded the players. Brekke, Anderson and Schuler were huge tonight. Webb, Huff and Mitchell were off tonight with their shots but contributed big in other ways. Webb led us in rebounds and assists and Mitchell got the crowd going with his HUGE dunk. Huff played his best defensive game I've ever seen him play. It was a total TEAM win. We also had out top 6 players play at least 26 minutes each and I thought this was huge keeping our key guys in most all the time. I wont be able to sleep for hours I'm so pumped. Go Sioux

It would be interesting to see how we rank in attendance for all D1 basketball teams. 1600 is not good but I'm sure its alot better than more schools than you think. I still believe next year being in the Big Sky and more quality opponents the attendance figures will go up. We will see I guess. Of course, tonight will help our numbers.

The fact that the game is being televised does not help either. I'm sure many fans will just watch it on TV versus driving very far. Last year I dont believe the game was on TV. Go Sioux

Our players get to practice at the Ralph on Monday only. NDSU will probably only get a shoot around on Tuesday. I'm sure NDSU gets no real practice time.

Wrong again. Just a fan that talks about what I see and hear. You just have to much of a crush on your boy huff. Its obvious to all. I don't hate its just hard watching the same player out of control almost every game. Like I said many times when and if he plays for the team we will be good. Again I hope this happens and I will join your club and talk about how good he is doing. Until then I am not a fan.

Anderson is not my boy, Im just defending him about your post about facebook. He is our best player and if a vote was taken it would show this. I like Goodman, Schuller, Brekke, Anderson, Mitchell, and alot others. You love HUFF. You cant compare scoring when Huff has taken 80+ more shots than Anderson. If Anderson had taken as many shots as Huff he would be averaging 20 pts/game. Huff is only truly doing better in rebounding and steals. Look at the shooting stats buddy, that tells the story. Everyone that watches UND basketball knows Huff is not a TEAM player and that is why I am on him so much. He is the only player on this team that cares more about himself than the team. If he ever became a team player this team would be very good. Until that time we will suffer. You cant talk about anybody when it comes talking up a player cause all you have done in your posts is rave about Huff and no one else. I like the way every player plays together on this team except Huff. Next post watch your language buddy, no sense in using the words you used. Its a shame the administrater doesnt delete your post. My wife thinks you must be around the age of 12. I have not changed anything about what I post. I like team ball and I like players that take good shots and love the basic inside out game. Thats basketball. Huff does none of this and does everything opposite this. He obviously had no high school coaching at all and little is being done at this level either. Do you honestly think his team mates like playing with him? Dont think so. I know several. Also watch Huff when he is on the bench. When we score everyone stands up, except one player ( your boy). He does not even cheer for the team when we score, everyone else does. Yes, I dont like your boy but I can change if he changes. He can make the difference with his ability but I dont see it happening. Hopefully, it will. Also, I'm sure you havent noticed we win when the ball is shared and the scoring is distributed evenly. You got me going this morning.

I know why undsportsmatic cares is because Anderson is playing better than Huff all year and sportsmatic does not like it. Anderson is the best player this year and he does not like it. The numbers dont lie and watching the performance of Anderson does not lie either. He takes such good shots and has a good assist to turnover ratio also. Go Sioux

I Agree, Its for his family and friends at home. I am sure they are very proud of this young man. Go Sioux

I guess its up in the air for me if Antwi really brings more to the table than Haugen. Haugen had a descent freshman year and unfortunately for him got buried behind the freshman class last year which saw three freshman (Huff, Webb, Schuler) become 3 of the top 10 freshmen scorers in UND history. Antwi has not come close to Haugen's numbers when Haugen was a freshman. Its obvious the coaches made that decision early on this year to play Antwi over Haugen. I kinda believe they made this decision because all the hype Jones made of Antwi and he is trying to save face. As far as Anderson and his posts that may be because his family hardly ever comes to a game due to the distance. The only way they see him play is probably thru the highlights and post game interviews that Aaron posts. Anderson seems like a great kid that does not have an attitude about himself and plays under control. He is having an unbelievable year and everytime he goes to the floor I hold my breath that he is not going to get up. He is so small. Go Sioux

Its just strange you are not on the travelling squad because you take only your top 12 players but when at home you play someone who does not travel ahead of a player like Haugen that does travel. So why not travel Antwi over Haugen. Of course that may be a mute point since Goodman is obviously hurt again. Anybody know of Goodman's status? I'm sure he had a couple days of nice practice since everyone else did not practice and was sick. Hopefully we are at full strengh now. Antwi just came in with so much hype and he appears to be a run and gun type player and that hype has not lived up. Dont really see him fitting in with the class ahead of him for much playing time. He is definately way behing Webb, Anderson and Schuler for the guard spots. Just dont know why he is constanting put in front of Haugen.

Agree alot of layups missed again last night. Those are the shots we really need to make. Overall, I thought we played OK against an NAIA school. Its a victory that we should have won easily and I thought we did that. Dont understand the coaching decision to play Antwi so much over Haugen. Antwi was suspended once and he did not even travel on this last road trip but he is inserted in the game first off the bench. To me that sends a wrong signal to other players. Antwi did score 7 last night but overall his play has been very poor this year and based on his hype has done nothing. Would like to see Haugen more. Go Sioux

I think you are stretching matters alittle bit with not trading Mathison or Stockdale, neither play and are both walk ons. I do agree we have alot of good talent and each talent helps us in different ways which I do like. But, until this talent decides to play as a total team we are going to have struggles. This will be a very interesting game, if UND plays together we can win this game. If UND does not play as a team we could be in serious trouble. NDSU plays very well together and I like their motion offense, all players are moving and they do not have 2 guys just standing and they set alot of picks all over the floor for all the players , not just 30' from the basket. Looking forward to this one indeed. Go Sioux

Dont think any Sioux fan should be satified with a loss to NDSU. Granted this is going to be a very tough game for us but we have proven we can play with very good teams in GF. As Green Team mentioned this will be alittle neutralized due to the fact we are not playing in the Betty. However, a huge pro Sioux crowd could made up this difference. We will need to play great defense and once again be patient and take good shots. Go Sioux

Welcome to the board. We definately need students at all our home games and with more students like you trying to drive them to the games would be great, thanks. Look forward to seeing hundreds and hundreds of students. Would rather have thousands but we will start small and build. Go Sioux

I think I do. I strongly believe that the future of this team in the next 2 years rides more so with Huff than any other player we have. He has the ability to make the biggest difference on this team and the ability to get everyone involved more. I truly like our players for the next couple of years and others need to make changes also. Webb needs to seriously cut down on turnovers, Brekke needs to play smarter and not get so many fouls and look opposite when he is double teamed, Schuler needs to look to shoot more, Goodman just needs to stay healthy, Anderson is playing great this season and needs to continue, Allard needs to stop shooting outside 5 feet. That pretty much is our players that play. Back to Huff, he is the difference maker for this TEAM. The smarter he plays the better we will be, period. Its up to him and the coaches. I hope someday soon he realizes this and then the team will unite. Go Sioux

Probably the same way you do nothing but talk about how great he is. From the very first scrimmage you claimed he was the best UND has ever had and continue to only comment every post on how good he is. Nothing good about anybody else I have said many times he has the most talent of anyone on this team and has by far the most athleticsm. With that maybe I expect better control by him than to watch his out of control play every game. He shoots so many shots with 2 and 3 guys on him with no thought what so ever of passing the ball to a wide open player. He has had a few games where he is under control and makes nice passes and when that happens the team is a much better team. Kind of like when Michael Jordan first came to the Bulls he shot the ball a ton and scored 50 points a game and the Bulls lost. Once he understood that did nothing for the team he got all his team mates involved more and he scored alittle less but the TEAM starting winning. Basketball is a TEAM game and I really dont think Huff truly understands this concept. Like I said I watch every game and once he changes and the coaches make him change then this team will start to win more consistantly. Alot rides on whether Huff changes. Look at the box scores and when he shoots15-20 times and no one else shoots much we lose big time. One player cannot take 30+% of our shots and we win with 5-6 of those horrible shots. If you dont understand this then you dont know anything about basketball. We need more balance cause 6 of our guys have proven if given the chance can put up 20 points in a given night.

Green team, I really dont think we have improved from last year. Yes, we beat a couple of really good teams at home. I look at areas alot of people tend to not look at. I look at good shot selection, amount of assists in a game, finding the open man when double/triple teamed and most importantly an inside out game. All are basic fundamentals of good basketball. This year we still take way too many bad shots and our assists in most games are dreadful and way too much one on one stuff. I watch everygame one way or another and hardly ever recall a game where we have a single inside out basket. Look at the assist numbers for our bigs. Its horrible for a D1 school. Granted bigs dont have alot of assists compared to other positions but ours are non-exisstant. I really dont understand what the coaches are looking at in our game films game after game. Players must understand by now what is a good shot for them and the coaches must inforce this on them. Dont see this happening. People are critical of Huff (including myself) because he takes way too many bad shots a game. Nobody needs to take that many bad shots a game for any reason. He can score his 15+ points a game taking 5-6 fewer shots easily. I have said many times this team has the talent in the sophomore class to really made a difference in the years to come but alot of changes have to be made by players and coaches. This class has now played 49 D1 games together and I see that nothing has changed from last year. I really hope it changes. Regardless I will still be at most home games and watching all the other games cheering on the Sioux and hoping for the results that can be made by this team. Go Sioux

Thats because they rode the bus for 10 hours and wanted all players to experience the atmosphere. It really did not cost anymore to bus a few extra players, just another room.
-
They are only traveling 12 players this year. Dont believe they are injured or suspended just coaches decision to leave them at home.
-
I dont believe Antwi or Gentry traveled on this trip to New Mexico.
