Agree best players will play regardless but what I am saying is there won't be that many minutes with Anderson, Webb, Schuler and Antwi cause I believe all will get minutes and then add Hooker. Many players score big time in high school and not so much in college. Hope Hooker is as advertised but a red shirt may be the best with all that is coming back. We proved last night our guards are good enough to beat the best, what hurt us last night was down low in the blocks. I believe that will be solved next year with Nash and Traylor at the 4. I just don't see Hooker getting enough minutes will all the seniors to validate using one of his 4 years.

Next year brings a new set of problems Jones has not had in several years. Our talented junior class will be seniors with a ton on points/minutes/experience and you now have Salmonson, Nash, Traylor, Benton and possibly Hooker. I don't see where Hooker will get minutes because Webb and Anderson play around 34-35 minutes a game and then you will have Schuler, Antwi, and Benton also as guards. I'm sure they move Schuler off the 4 and back to the 2 like he started his freshman year and also Benton back to a guard position. I would see Webb and Anderson starting the 1/2 with Schuler the first one off the bench which is the way this season started. Huff at the 3 with Nash as backup and or Nash at the 4 and Traylor as backup. Brekke and Salmonson at the 5. Schuler may also spell time at the 3 if Nash moves to the 4. Just don't see where Hooker is going to get enough minutes to justify playing him and not red-shirting him. Plus we still have 2 scholarships to offer for next year.

Absolutely great effort by all the boys. They fought their ass off .

What a first half. This game is so physical and the refs r close to losing control. 20 minutes down and now just 20 more men. Go sioux
-
Huff taken to bad shots in a row leading to 5 weber pts. Good shots guys.
-
We must first figure out how to stop their inside game cause they go down low on almost every possession with their bigs. Wilmer must once again be a force down low and not get into foul trouble against all their bigs. Brekke also needs to come in and play like he is capable down low. On offense we must play like we did the last 20 minutes yesterday and find our shooters when they collapse on our drives. We will not be able to drive and think we can shoot over their bigs or they will have 10+ blocks. It will be difficult but this team finds ways to win in the tournament each year. Can't wait and lets go Sioux.

Brekke played with one shot and around 6 rebounds. Tonight in the 2nd half we penetrated and found our shooters and our shooters connected. We must continue to do this tomorrow and if our shooters hit then it can be close. Weber is a great team with so much size but now we are in a one game scenerio where anything can happen. Way to go Sioux.

Now that we are more healthy than we have been all year we have the talent and confidence to win this tournament but the selfish play must stop now. There are no more individual honors to be won, it's now all about TEAM and working and passing to the open player and hitting the shots. We have the ability to do all of this but will certain players do this. I have seen good team play from us many times but in this 3 game scenerio we must do it for 40 minutes each game and yes we can win it all. It must start today and end on Saturday. Go Sioux

If he does hopefully he has better luck next year with jucos than he did this year.

Been saying this for quite some time. More and more teams are collapsing on huff when he drives and he has got to dish. He is no doubt one of thbe best players in this league but for this team to go to the next level he must pass the ball more when he is double and triple teamed cause this will open things up for everyone else. For him to have zero assists in the last 3 games is rediculous with all the attention he draws.
-
I don't believe either is 100% but Schuler did score 16 points in his first game back so that is a great sign. Anderson is still also a question because I heard he did not practice yesterday.
-
Nice post, got me excited also. Let's go do this in our first year. Go Sioux

Huff taking a lot of bad shots. Guys r wide open when he is driving.
-
From what I heard we should be full strength for the tournament. Schuler practiced full today and will see some minutes tomorrow and with another 3 days of practice for him and brekke we should have all our players together for basically the first time since game one. Let the games begin.

Montana wins in overtime. UND is now locked at the 3 seed. SUU played a great game and has a very good dribble inside and kick to the wide open shooter.

Well deserved, congrats to Troy.

Amazing win and great game by Huff. To think we have not once yet this year had our best players starting together for any of the games with all the injuries. Maybe come tournament times everyone will be healthy and we can start Webb, Anderson, Huff, Schuler and Brekke. Our best winning stretch was 5-2 with Wilmer starting in place of the injured Brekke and Brekke is no doubt the better post player so it would be nice to have our best start for once this year and see what happens. No that we are the 3rd seed who do we want to play in the semi's? I've got a lot of mixed thoughts on that cause if we can get the injured Montana team on a neutral site I believe is our best shot at the championship game but then again Weber almost lost today and pulled it out in overtime against Northern Arizona and if they can do it I've got to believe we can do it also. Since we can't decide who we play we will just have to wait and see. This team just continues to amaze me at what they are accomplishing.

They've been saying its back spasms for a couple of weeks but from what I've heard it's something with a disc in his lower back. He may be back this week but thats been the word each week. So, I'd say its week to week. He was having a very good year and this team needs his consistant play in the tournament.
-
That would be true. Everything in this town and university revolves around hockey not the other way around.

Seems as though we are getting ahead of oursevles on other non-realated topics so I will start one for those discussions. Don't we still have 2 available scholarships to offer for next year and then the year after that we should have 7 to offer and at this point I don't believe we have any committments for these 9 scholarships in the next 2 years. That is a lot of scholarships available and it concerns me we may have to accept bodies and not good quality players to fill this many in such a short time. I agree with alot of posters that next year if all goes well we should no doubt be at the level of Montana and Weber with all the experience and the depth we will have and seriously have a legit shot at the dance. With that being said, I still believe we can do it this year also with the right matchup and healthy bodies and Mr. LUCK on our side. Go Sioux

He definately has filled in nicely for all the injured players cause he was only playing 6 minutes a game until all the injuries. Next year he won't be playing the 4 with Nash, Traylor, Brekke and Salmonson filling those positions at the 4/5. Don't want to be negative but he will be at a guard position where he needs to be, but my concern with him is he is a banger and his foot speed is extremely slow to guard the qucker players. We will have Anderson, Webb, Huff, Hooker, Schuler, Antwi as quality guards next year and I see him behind all of them just as he was this year. He definately has done great filling in because he is at a position he doesn't have to guard anybody quick and he can just bang on them but he is not better than the above mentioned. Like mentioned by another poster he will be a solid role player in the future but has been extremely fortunate to get the minutes late this year and has taken full advantage of it.
-
Got to once again give Jones alot of credit for what he has done this year with all the injuries and academic problems. Huff missing 9 games , Brekke missing 13 games and Schuler so far missing 7 games and yet this team is 10-8 in league sitting a solid 3rd place. The subs have all stepped up for all the injuries and made solid contributions. Hopefully everyone will be back in time for the tournament and year one of the Big Sky could produce a huge surprise.
-
Every road team won last night, thats quite a change.
-
Doesn't matter how ugly it is at this point, it only matters that we are leading and a win would be huge. Brekke is by no means at full strength and Schuler is still out and both at full strength would make a huge difference for us. Lets just hold on boys and lock this in the tournament even though I think we are safe. Not watching but why are we shooting so many three's?
-
Agree having Brekke against the bigs will be a huge lift. PSU and EWU on the road will not be easy at all. I believe PSU has won 3 in a row and won big. I'd hope they would not travel Schuler and keep him back for more re-hab. Maybe they are just making sure he is 100% for tournament at this point.
