  1. Huff has shot it every time he has got it this half. Its rediculous. Schuler has touched the ball once this half. Again Huff touches it and no pass. I wish I could replay and count the number of times this has happened. Anybody else watching this or just me.
  2. I think the most passes we have made in the second half on any possession is 2 and we have 2 assists the entire game. Is that unbelievable, Another possession and no pass. Weber State should just put 5 guys on whoever has the ball and force us to maybe pass. I'd bet we don't.
  3. Huff out of control, 3 straight possessions no pass and 2 bad shots. Blame this on the coaches.
  4. Also, we have completely lost our TEAM concept where whoever brings the ball down is shooting it. Only Huff, Webb, and Anderson has touched the ball this half and basically shot it.
  5. This is so bad, but can someone please explain to me what Benton brings and why he plays minutes.
  6. Never been good for a guard. Shot 55% (44-80) his freshman year and 60% (44-73) his sophomore year. Only shooting 47% this year. 56.3% for his career, which is awful for a guard. Also, shooting under 20% from 3 this year. Not having a good shooting year thats for sure.
  7. Not flashy but very very smart with the ball and his shots. Heard Jones say he has the highest basketball IQ on the team. I really liked Jones going with the 4 guard lineup the last 6-7 minutes with Anderson, Webb, Huff and Schuler. This is by far our best scoring lineup we can possibly put on the floor with each player capable of making a shot from anywhere.
  8. I agree its a major concern. As of right now if Traylor is not here next year and we are losing Wilmer, Archer and Allard that leaves us Brekke and Salmonson at the 5 and we don't know anything about Salmonson except he obvioulsy was not ready to play this year so that concerns me with what kind of ability he has. So basically all we will have is Brekke at the 5 and Nash at the 4 and about 9 guards ( Anderson, Webb, Antwi, Schuler, Benton, Huff, Hobaugh, Hooker and the walk-on). If Brekke or Nash get into foul trouble, which you know they will at various points then we will have guards playing post positions. Looks as if we will need to get some more JUCO players and we know how that worked out this year. Does anyone know if Traylor is allowed to practice due to his academic issue?
  9. You are correct. What I should have written is non-home game, to me its still on the road but correct it was a neutral site cause we did not play Utah Valley first year nor Chicago State the following year. We need tonights game and without Brekke it just got alittle tougher.
  10. Hope you are right cause road wins don't come very often unless its conference tournament time when we are 5-0 the last couple of years. This is no doubt a must win for us cause you guys are next and then Montana at home. We've got to win this game for any hopes of getting into the conference tournament, which is what we are fighting for right now.
  11. A much needed win tonight and a good hard fought game. Still don't understand Jones subbing of players and who he plays when. Schuler has been our 2nd leading scorer for the past 9 games and now that Huff is back Schuler played barely 18 minutes and only got 2 shots. Schuler has always played the 1 or 2 and now it looks as it he is just going to be a sub for Huff. He is going to send Schuler off in the distance like he has several other players in the past couple of years, would hate to see that cause I believe he is one of our most solid players on the floor. Rebounding was every impressive with a huge advantage for UND. Free throw shooting continues to be good with the exception of the one game and one thing I definately did not understand was when they were in a fouling situation our best 2 free throw shooters were not even in the game. Webb hit the big 3 but he is not a 3 point shooter at all ( only 20% for the year). Jones obviously does not ever look at stats with who shoots what shots. Happy with the win but still a long way to go and we are already 11 games into the season.
  12. Jones needs to make serious and hard decisions on his lineup. In my opinion he is playing way too many minutes for Allard and Benton, they should be out of the equation. I don't see anything that they are bringing to the team to warrant the minutes they are playing. You can't play Benton at the 4 like he did last night, way to short. As mentioned before if we are going with 4 guards then play Huff at the 4 some and not Benton. He also needs to rest Anderson more due to him cramping up every game, just more breaks for him not necessary long ones but just enough to get fluids in him. Get down to 8 players and give our best players the minutes that give us the best chance to win, Brekke, Huff, Anderson, Webb, Schuler, Antwi, Wilmer, Traylor (if eligible) and if not Archer. Seems like every game we should win but for one thing or another we don't. Several games ago we couldn't make a free throw, then we shoot under 30% in another and then again last night we have 20 more shots than our opponent and again shoot poorly. The shots are there and we have the shooters and for some reason they are not going down, they look good . Positives from last night was I thought we moved the ball better and guys weren't standing around on offense as much and Huff played a nice controlled game. We just need to get to 2013 and maybe the dark cloud that is over this team will disappear. One more note from our first 2 games in the Big Sky: how poor is this officiating. Hopefully, I don't get fined but Allard, Schuler, Antwi that I can remember got hammered on about 6 different shots and no calls. When you go up for a shot jumper and get body chucked almost out of the gym that is a foul. It was the same brutal physical game at SUU. These officials need to get a grip or a lot of players are going to get injured.
  13. It's been said somewhere how can it get worse? Well if Traylor is out for academics it has just gotten worse. Nash then Huff then Brekke and now Traylor, all key players that were going to be major factors for our success this year.
  14. I will ask the question again now that we know Huff is beginning full contact practice today. Who do you think losses large minutes with Huff's return. Lets analyze who's done what in his absense. Point guards first; Webb and Anderson have been playing 34- 36 minutes a game and for the most part not extremely effecient, Webbs not been shooting the ball well and we all know about all the silly turnovers. Anderson has been our leading scorer but he is taking many bad shots and if for not his flops would not be scoring that much at all cause of all the FT's. As far as FG% I believe he is the worst of the players that have quality minutes. Antwi until the last game is shooting the ball very well and is right now our best 3 point shooter and what I like about him is he doesn't seem to force very many bad shots and moves the ball around well. Schuler is our most consistant overall player as far as stats are concerned. He has done a great job in Huff's absence averaging over 10 pts/game and is our second leading scorer since Huff,s absence. What this kid does in take great shots, doesn't turn the ball over (2.5 assist to turnover ratio) and is our best pure shooter. Allard has gone down hill since the first 2 games and has not brought much to the team at all. He still takes 3 point shots that he has no business taking cause most of them end up air balls. Traylor is the most improved as of late. He appears to be a force underneath with his ability to grab the offensive rebound and put it back. I like what he is doing and what he brings to the team. Wilmer and Archer have done a good job but once Huff and Brekke come back one or the other is going to lose alot of minutes. Wilmer has still no idea how to box out and many times has trouble catching a pass. Archer has been consistant in his role and really has a great shot but again does not box out , which is killing us. Coaches have some tough decisions but my opinion is this, both Webb and Anderson should lose minutes to Antwi and Schuler. Have Schuler continue to play the 3 with Huff and also play big minutes at the 1 or 2 like in the years past. Schuler needs to be around 28 minutes. Antwi needs to back up the 1 and 2 and around 20-22 minutes. Webb and Anderson should also be around 28 minutes. Traylor needs to be at the 4 more minutes with Huff moving down to the 4 to give Traylor some rest. Brekke should get most of the minutes at the 5 spot with relief from Wilmer and Archer. This would give us a 9 man rotation and may even dwindle down to 8 at some point in time. Honestly, I believe an 8 man rotation would be the best.
  15. I would think it will take him a few weeks to get into game shape and play quality minutes. He did lose 20 points so I would think his quality minutes may start with the road trip to Idaho St. and Weber.
  16. OOPS, somehow I missed those games. Its even more of a must win cause those 2 games are on the road before the Montana game and we all know how we play on the road these past several years. UGH
  17. No doubt this is a must win cause league favorite Montana is next and the possiblity of being 0-3 would not be good.
  18. Love the way he finds the open teammates. Didn't count the number of times he penetrated part way thru the lane and dished to wide open guys for layups or jumpers but this is exactly what we need now. Anderson and Webb need to watch this video and they can learn alot from this kid. Anxious for him to wear a UND uniform.
  19. Your last line sums it all up. Teams we've played against so far this year play sound fundamental basketball and we don't. That is the difference of a 2-7 record versus what could easily be 6-3. Maybe after getting beat game after game by our opponents basic basketball some of it will rub off and a little light will go off in somebody's head, not holding my breath.
  20. Very nice and after a nights sleep and calming down alittle I want to add to your game thoughts. Traylor, excellent game again and very agressive on the offensive boards and put backs. Liked his game from the very beginning and he needs more minutes. Wilmer please box out and push you man away from the bucket and do not shoot 15-18 foot jumpers. That was 3-4 possessions we lost with those shots. Anderson and Webb you are point guards and your job in this offense is to penetrate and find the open man, if the lane is open and I mean open then drive to the bucket for a lay up. Combined last night you two had 2 assists and that was from Anderson in the last 3 minutes of the game. Jones needs to pick one of these guys to run point and the other back the starter up. Starting 2 points guards that one turns the ball over consistantly and the other is playing for himself does not work. Webb, why do you penetrate so deep with trees around you and then try to pass, get rid of the ball sooner for once please. Above you said you hardly noticed Schuler and that is because our point guards dont see him, plan and simple, he is open everytime someone penetrates but of course they force up a shot or get it blocked. Agree more plays need to be run for Schuler, but then again they dont pass it to him. Another poster hit the nail of the head when they posted screens need to be set for him but our coaches have not figured out how he can best be used. Allard, another poor game and I'd agree his minutes are fading fast and with just cause. This is not a team right now and major changes need to be made especially once Brekke and Huff return. It's only going to be worse cause this group of players do the exact same things each and everygame. Once the ball goes down low it never comes out, once our point guards penetrate it never comes out and certain guys should never ever shoot from the outside but they do everygame and miss. Once again this game was down to a possession and we waste 10-12 possesions or more everygame with the same old stuff. This is going to be a long and disappointing season if changes are not made immediately. Once Brekke and Huff return we need to get down to playing 8 solid players and if some of these 8 continue doing the same mistakes bench them and go alittle deeper. They are not freshman or sophomores anymore coach and our offense has issues.
  21. Our 2 point guards (Webb and Anderson) had 2 assists for the entire game. We need Webb or Anderson at point, Schuler at the 2 , Huff at the 3 , Traylor at the 4 and Brekke at the 5 when we get healthy. Also, since when does Wilmer shoot 15 foot jumpers, I counted at least 3 or 4 and missed them all. What are our guys doing anymore cause I sure don't understand it. Whenever we got within 3 we either turned it over or Anderson took 4 consecutive shots without a pass and missed them all. He played so selfish and thats a major problem for this team. Just like what was just said on the radio our shot selection was horrible by certain guys.
  22. We need point guards that need to realize shooting over trees does not work and if its not a clear lane get it back out. This is so sad to play like this.
  23. I agree Anderson needs to try a pass.
  24. I am so upset at our ability to not be able to box out. Wilmer I swear stands directly below the rim and the ball bounces over his head every rebound. After 5 years we still do not know how to box out. Sorry, but his is pissing me off. Basic basketball boys, who is to blame for this?
  25. Schuler was wide open on that charge. Am so tired of our guards driving and never dishing to the wide open shooters.
