  1. Luke Kunin played at Wisconsin last year before the coaching change. Things are drastically different at Wisconsin as you eluded.
  2. It does need work, but the eye looks amazing. The love the rigidness of the logo, for sure the beak needs work, but this type of logo could help ALL move on from the Sioux logo and this postal service logo. At this point, why would we nitpick Brien's logo? It would be a top ten logo in college hockey. Now we have a logo that doesn't even fit in in a group of logos.
  3. It's hard to compared to the BU class. That might be the best class ever in college hockey. They will be a top 5 team next year for sure, whatever Quinn is selling recruits love it. Are we keeping up? Of course, if we can average every year or so a top 1st round or pick, plus role players to develop we are building the program right. The UND program effect also gets 1 or 2 more years then a normal program would get. Nowdays, having one and dones in hockey only take you so far and without the depth players (3-4 years) your rebuilding every other year.
  4. Michigan didn't need an interim president to fire Hoke. That was a lay up. Apples to oranges. Hoke needed to be fired. The school gave fans an opportunity to choose a name, but NOT a logo. One man chose the logo and it looks terribly ugly, even on the press conference tshirt he wore. Clearly this never went to a focus group of fans, else you would get 70% of people disliking the logo on the Herald website. If anything was the most important decision it was the logo, NOT the nickname. I would take the Sundogs, Blizzards, or any other stupid name, as long as it has a half decent logo that we can be proud of. That's the problem, this logo does nothing for "moving on," and instilling pride in North Dakota.
  5. After a couple days, I still can't believe on the opportunity lost by the school, administration, and athletic department. With a half decent logo, both Sioux forever fans and all fans would have been able to "heal" and move on. Just give me a generic clip art hawk to wear. I am still at a lost of words how bad our corporate logo is.
  6. Why didn't you submit this as a logo option?!!!!!!!!!!!! Put that logo in a interlocking ND logo and we have a winner!
  7. Obviously being facetious. You have seen the logo and I assume you're a North Dakota hockey fan. Would you like to see it on our chest?
  8. Leadership? That is leadership. He's giving his opinion on the new lackluster logo that will clearly look terrible on a jersey. Why does he need to follow the athletic department to the ends of the earth? That's what you're implying. That leadership mean no thought or expression. In fact, the school should listen to the players and leaders of our programs. This wouldn't have passed the chopping block. Did Hakstol show a lack of leadership when he came out at a press conference to show support of the Fighting Sioux nickname? No.
  9. But the gophers don't have a bad logo. The block M is an iconic logo and looks great on sports apparel. The cartoon gopher isn't bad either, but you'd never put it on the front of a jersey.
  10. So we accept mediocrity at UND? I am so sick of people saying, "it could have been worse." Statements like that are garbage. We should strive for the best looking logo that the community and state can be proud of. We had an opportunity to create a beautiful logo as a school and move on from the Sioux logo. Frankly, the school and president blew it . This logo from a sports, marketing, and design, looks completely mediocre and that's what's wrong. No more excuses and justifications like, "no one would have accepted the logo anyways." These two justifications are unacceptable for people who have pride and love UND athletics: 1. Could have been worse. 2. No one would have accepted it anyways (this is lie)
  11. He knows, as well as anyone who has followed UND hockey, that next seasons jerseys have been ordered. He was speaking out against the jersey look AND logo. By the way, there is no guarantee that the logo doesn't end up on the front of our jerseys starting in 2017. That I cannot handle. Gage Ausmus ‏@Gausmus47 21h21 hours ago This has to be the ugliest jersey/logo I've ever seen #HideTheLogo #Putitontheshoulder
  12. How are they dirty? That isn't a dirty move to trade for draft rights of a high end player playing in college. It only gives them the rights to start the discussions. Portland (WHL) does it often and I believe Calgary (WHL) did the same thing to then talk to former Sioux Tambellini. Potential high end draft picks from ages 17-19 will always be flight risks to the CHL (WHL, OHL, QMJHL), especially when they aren't seeing much ice time / play on poor teams.
  13. I'm not implying that everyone was happy with the process, but at least we have some name that we somewhat agreed upon. Now we have a seriously weak logo. Choose a random hawk clip art, we could have gotten behind that easier than this.
  14. Complete disconnect. Exactly. I'm curious to see the other choices and the criteria that UND gave this marketing group. I feel like the logo even more important with moving on, as is the nickname. We probably should have had a vote at least to decide. Give us as fans, alumni, and supporters a chance to pick a logo we can get behind.
  15. I assume you know that I mock that up from this logo right?..... This logo is better than the new logo anyways.
  16. My goodness this logo sucks. It's really not even a logo, it's more of an alternative logo. Jeez. This isn't a postal service
  17. London Knights acquire the OHL rights to Jack Roslovic of Miami. Looks like they are coming for him.
  18. All right here we go..... Please don't let this be a disaster... I'm surprised the logo hasn't been leaked.
  19. I'm not upset or defensive at all. Just stating my thoughts. When players and alumni give back financially or just with moral support, either way, it doesn't matter. My whole point is that fans sometimes act like former players should be thanking the university forever and always for everything good that happens to them. It's just not true, especially with top end talent, we are fortunate that they chose/choose UND for 2-3 years of their development. If they win the cup and decide to spend the day on a mountain top or on a lazy river with family, instead of bringing it to Grand Forks, good for them. Let's not take that as an offensive toward the program, Grand Forks, or their own Sioux legacy.
  20. Again who cares? They don't owe UND or us anything. Toews / Parise would have been successful ANYWHERE they went. Let's not kid ourselves, UND is doesn't have a monopoly on developing players. Sure, in my opinion, it's the best college hockey route, but let's not act like former players owe UND or us as fans anything except continued verbal support.
  21. Who cares if they don't bring the cup back to UND. It doesn't mean that they aren't loyal or faithful to UND anymore. Toews played 2 years of his hockey life here, very little compared to the rest of his life.
  22. I wish that were the case. This announcement has no barring on whether or not Schmaltz is coming or going. If he leaves, they have the back-fill all situated.
  23. Goal Average Saves Record Goals ## Name GP-GS Minutes GA Avg Saves Pct W L T Sho PP SH EN Pen SOG 31 Zane McIntyre 42-41 2493:21 85 2.05 1111 .929 29 10 3 1 25 4 0 0 0 33 Cam Johnson 2-1 43:19 4 5.54 13 .765 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Nearly impossible to have a backup play less than Cam's freshman year. McIntyre the workhorse. I agree, hopefully we'll see double digit starts from Tomek to take pressure off Cam, but also to push them both (ie Dell / Eidness situation).
  24. That is the great question. Arguably the deepest defensive core that we've had makes a huge impact on the goaltending stats. Next year we can't expect any starter to be under well under 2.00 GAA. Obviously hope for the best, but we won't be nearly as strong defensively as we were this year.
