  1. This weekend is huge for both teams. I can't see us getting swept nor sweeping, I'm hoping for 2-3 pts out of this weekend and we should be a great shape going into the final 2 series of the season. Home ice isn't as important as being in the top 3. I'd hate to finish 5th this year and then have to play a tough 3 game series, even if it's at home. The WCHA stretch from the home ice series ---to final five --- is the toughest stretch in college hockey by far. I think it hurts teams rather than helps them when it comes to a one and done game in the NCAA tourney.
  2. Going to the USHL would be better for his development than staying in HS. Forget the debate of physical play and head hunting. It happens everywhere. The big plus of him going to the USHL is his develop of playing against far better/stronger skaters. Now if he stays, either way, Oshie, Nelson, Toews, they all developed fine at the HS level. It's an individual decision. I'd like to see all of our recruits play one season in the USHL just to develop them physically.
  3. Good call, I have Jon Casey starting over Goehring and Belfour
  4. FOR UND is PART of the criteria, not the entire criteria. I talking about Belfour, he won a title at UND. But only played one season. Looking at numbers, JP Lamoureux should probably make the team before him (wins at UND, time spent, save %, GAA). Same thing could be said about Toews. But overall when you take in what Belfour has done having his name attached to the program, you got to take Belfour. That's the FOR I'm taking about. Playing in only 12 games and giving millions of dollars to a school doesn't make you part of the All Time Greats roster. He has done wonderful things for the program, no doubt, but he still wouldn't find a spot on my roster.
  5. Only issue I have with an All Time Great Sioux team is the players need to have made a major impact at UND, not necessarily after. Factoring in a successful pro career is good, but what was there impact at UND and for UND. Doing decade teams would be far easier than an overall team, but its still fun to see who people would take.
  6. But who do you remove from my roster then? Wynne, Namenko, and Bombarbier can go, but who else do you remove? Maybe Toews, but can you really move anyone else?
  7. The honorable mention list could go on for pages, thats why its so tough to pin down a 23 team roster. As you'll notice I dont have anyone who played for UND prior to 1979, thats crazy considering the titles we had as well before than. That's how great UND's tradition of players is. I starting doing a All time list for a couple WHL teams (as I live out west) Tri City Americans (Carey Price, Olaf Kolzig, Stu Barnes) and Spokane Chiefs (Grabner, Tyler Johnson, Kyle Beach), and I had trouble coming up with a 23 man roster.
  8. My roster, easier to view 5 Jason Blake C 7 Troy Murray C 8 Doug Smail RW 9 Greg Johnson C 9 Jonathan Toews C 11 Zach Parise LW 11 Dixon Ward RW 11 Teeder Wynne C 16 Ryan Duncan RW 17 Jeff Panzer C 20 Bob Joyce LW 21 Tony Hrkac C 21 Matt Frattin RW 2 Matt Greene D 6 Nick Namenko D 7 Brad Bombardir D 5 Chay Genoway D 2 Curtis Murphy D 6 Ian Kidd D 3 James Patrick D 35 Jon Casey G 1 Karl Goehring G 29 Ed Belfour G Honorable Mentions 7 TJ Oshie LW 18 Drew Stafford RW Travis Zajac C Dave Christian LW 13 Landon Wilson RW 7 Danny Kristo LW 10 Corban Knight C 22 Mike Commodore D 2 Dave Hakstol D 34 JP Lamoureux G 25 Phil Sykes F Mark Taylor F Cary Eades RW
  9. Who would you choose as an All Time Sioux Greats Roster, if you're limited to 23 players total including goalies? Here is my roster, I took in consideration first and foremost production at UND, leadership, and championships. I used some consideration of their production in the NHL (see Ed Belfour top 5 goalie in the history of the NHL had to make the list despite 1 season at UND). Here's my roster: 5 Jason Blake C 7 Troy Murray C 8 Doug Smail RW 9 Greg Johnson C 9 Jonathan Toews C 11 Zach Parise LW 11 Dixon Ward RW 11 Teeder Wynne C 16 Ryan Duncan RW 17 Jeff Panzer C 20 Bob Joyce LW 21 Tony Hrkac C 21 Matt Frattin RW 2 Matt Greene D 6 Nick Namenko D 7 Brad Bombardir D 5 Chay Genoway D 2 Curtis Murphy D 6 Ian Kidd D 3 James Patrick D 35 Jon Casey G 1 Karl Goehring G 29 Ed Belfour G Honorable Mentions 7 TJ Oshie LW 18 Drew Stafford RW Travis Zajac C Dave Christian LW 13 Landon Wilson RW 7 Danny Kristo LW 10 Corban Knight C 22 Mike Commodore D 2 Dave Hakstol D 34 JP Lamoureux G 25 Phil Sykes F Mark Taylor F Cary Eades RW Keep in mind, I grew up watching and attending games in the 90s as a kid. So players like Wynne, Bombardir, and Namenko were some of my favorites.
  10. Completely agree, I get that the Pairwise and RPI are computer generated and that is the last call. But if QU is in the WCHA they'd be in the middle of the pack. When you play the best, you beat up the best. And down the stretch it hurts the WCHA come tournament time. We saw this with Union last year as well. I read recently that QU has 11 seniors, that seems to be the answer in making a good run in a conference.
  11. I had no problems at all and was able to go back and watch the game again via DVR on the website. Pretty nice. Although the feed was terrible and the camara man clearly has never recorded a hockey game.
  12. Great breakaway. The ice is wet and slow, but I think this helps UND with it's speed. Rocco just walked cleanly around them. 3 goals on 6 shots, wow!
  13. This webcast is terrible. They need to zoom out. We can't see the whole play Edited: They finally did!
  14. I've got the webcast up and its working fine. The webcast sucks, but it's cool to watch. Should be fun
  15. anyone recording this game where they could upload it to youtube later?

Down by 70 votes people. Keep voting, I can't imagine this voting really matters. Something I find rediculous that Kristo isn't even on the list. UMD has 2 freshman on the list, just stupid.
  17. Bummer, not surprised though. Good luck Jason on your next goals in life.
  18. Great news, it'll be interesting to see the Sioux jersey's that we use in the NCAA tourney, yes I'm assuming we'll make it again next year.
  19. Detroit completely out played SJ last night, I'm amazed they didn't end it. Thats the great/rough thing about hockey, the better team doesn't always win.
  20. My hatred for Chris Pronger grows....classless hack.
  21. Nice to see the babies in Philly lose game 1.
  22. Goon's gotta be happy with the Bruin's winning. Even though there isn't many teams that I'm interested left the playoffs have been amazing and keep me watching each and every game. Love it.
  23. Speaking of Bruins/Canadians, I'm surprised about the lack of a day off between games, luckily for the teams that game didn't go into 2OTs.
  24. Too bad it didn't end well. Great comeback in the series as well as in the game for the Hawks.
  25. Playoffs have been amazing this year. Nothing better than the Stanley Cup finals. Look at the NBA, rarely do seeds 7 or 8 not knock off a 1 seed. In the NHL, anything is fair game. On the topic of Toews, they've been all over him in front of the net. You defnitely saw it in game 6 and he nearly got in a fight I believe in OT. Funny that the GM of Vancouver was crying about calls, stop being a baby just because your team has blown a 3-0 lead. Man I hope Chicago pulls it out.
