  1. Landing Bowers could make our incoming class absolutely stellar. With Mismash who could be a late 1st rounder, Colin Adams, Mattson, we'd be well on our way to help replacing Boeser and Jost after this year.
  2. I thought for sure it was another recruitment scandal...yawn. Interesting nevertheless.
  3. Losing a guy with 33 games experience for BC is big, considering they just turned over nearly their entire roster. Losing anyone with some college hockey experience hurts when they'll be looking for leadership.
  4. Looking like BU should run away with the Hockey East this year. Another big blow for BC.
  5. Great point. That was an issue with several freshmen last year (getting pushed off the puck easily). Besides Boeser and Wolanin, I saw that issue with most of our freshmen. That will be key come this season whether physically Joel, Wilkie, and Gersich can take that next step.
  6. I doubt it. He's a grinder, 3rd liner, similar to Mario Lamoureux. He's an essential, solid player, who out hustles everyone. But I don't see him getting quality PP time.
  7. Agree completely. I don't know if you've seen the feud him and Harbaugh are in, but its hilarious. He rips on Harbaugh for being arrogant. Pot calling the kettle black?! http://www.maizenbrew.com/2016/8/17/12516826/jim-rome-disses-jim-harbaugh-harbaugh-throws-haymaker-back
  8. What? They just (2014) went to the title game. They barely missed the NCAAs last year after losing a bunch of players. Give credit, where credit is due.
  9. This is smart for Minnesota athletics. Release ticket packages for people hungry to get tickets to the North Dakota game. Why wouldn't they do something like it prior to selling single game tickets? They haven't said it won't go on sale for single game tickets (which I'm sure it will), this way the athletic department is now selling far more tickets then they might have.
  10. 15 Michael Mancinelli ('01) F Fr. Detroit, MI 14 Harrison Blaisdell ('01) F Fr. Regina, SK We have some young guns committed too as well. Not as bad as Wisky getting a 13 yr old, but 14 isn't much better. Both, depending on development, will be flight risks in the near future.
  11. Agreed. The WCHA is still a fine conference without Mankato and even Bowling Green. WCHA programs will move forward with or without BGSU and MSUM, sure it weakens the conference. The WCHA will still be far stronger than the Altantic Hockey conference and the members schools aren't going to fold because of this change. Hockey conference strengths (not much would change) Hockey East/NCHC, Big Ten, ECAC, WCHA, AHA
  12. Head for the Niner Nothing looks Niner Niners keepers, losers weepers Did I hear a Niner? Callin' from a walkie talkie?
  13. I'm hoping they going to leave this one forward spot for next year to bring in a top end guy like Shane Bowers who is still uncommitted (projected first round player in 2017 draft). We have some solid players committed for the next 2-3 years, but it'd be nice to add a top end guy. Barring an early transfer, next season I only see 2-3 spots available for forwards depending on who signs early. Potential forwards spots for next season (2017-18) Spot left from Schmaltz leaving 14 [A] Austin Poganski F Jr. St. Cloud, Minn. (Tri-City-USHL) 16 [A] Brock Boeser F So. Burnsville, Minn. (Waterloo-USHL) 17 Tyson Jost F Fr. Penticton, BC
  14. "...North Dakota is a great program. They’re going to help develop him, get him to the next level. … He’s there for at least one year and we’ll see after that.” Joe Sakic “Right now I see myself playing one or two years at North Dakota. My ultimate goal, the reason I went to school was to develop as a player and ultimately get to the NHL and win a Stanley Cup. That’s the main reason I chose North Dakota is because they put players in the NHL and that’s my goal. If I work on a few details in my game and get bigger and stronger, I figure one or two years.” Tyson Jost With how early players sign nowadays, if he has a breakout year (which he will), we'd be lucky to get two years from him. Crossing my fingers, but I see Colorado making a strong push to sign him after this year.
  15. "If he ever did come to junior, he would be a very good player in the league," London GM Rob Simpson said. "But there is a good chance he could make Winnipeg or the American league. He's a first-round pick (25th overall in 2015). We'll see what happens." Classic comment...downplaying the fact they just traded for his rights...
  16. Most likely the OHL this year with London. He's visiting there this weekend. http://www.lfpress.com/2016/07/18/winnipeg-jets-first-round-pick-jack-roslovic-a-london-knights-property-signs-nhl-contract
  17. He must have a solid shot at making the roster if they were willing to burn a year of his Entry Level Contract. Jets are going be solid for years to come with their prospect pool.
  18. Unless you aren't from North Dakota...which this logo was trying to get away from the ND Notre Dame logo and Sioux logo and have a recognizable logo. This isn't clearly ND, from a distance (which is usually how logos are viewed) it looks like NO or NP.
  19. Your 2016-17 UND Roster http://www.undsports.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=13500&SPID=6405&SPSID=58685
  20. I'm not saying it's great for validity, but it is a poll and okay to reference it. I'd say it's a good sample size to show general consensus. How doesn't it represent UND fans at all? On a Grand Forks website and a North Dakota forum, I'd say that's a good place to start to get peoples thoughts on the logo.
  21. You said that 70% of people would hate it regardless, I'm referring to 2 polls that showed how people initially felt about the new logo. I disagreed, 70% of people dislike a seriously poor logo, now again, with a half decent logo acceptance would be far higher. No unicorns here, just a white dove with mascara...
  22. Yes, any half decent looking hawk would have been initially supported by 50-60% (including avid Sioux fans like myself). 70% of people on Herald disliked the new logo and over 70% on SiouxSports as well. With a half decent logo that percent moves to 50%, easily. I think you overestimate the amount of fans who are saying Sioux forever. It was time to move on, but this logo makes it harder...but that's a discussion for another thread.
  23. Since their alternative was the WCHA, I can guarantee you they are happy with the NCHC even if they are struggling.
  24. That's what I think too. I know the jerseys are ordered for next year, but i wouldn't be surprised to see the new logo on the shoulder replacing the interlocking ND logo as well. As much as I dislike the new logo, I think you'll see the school try to brand the heck out of it, even with the hockey team. We're stuck with it, until someday (fingers crossed), we have an alternative logo that looks sweet that the program can truly get behind.
