  1. I like that idea...methinks it will be the new logo.
  2. It'll be interesting to see how the hockey program implements the new logo. This will be a huge stance on their approach. The administration will push hard for the new logo to be there.
  3. Looks like a generic rink. Any thoughts on us having the new logo on the rink or will we go with the interlocking ND (despite it being in the legacy collection)?
  4. I guess we really can't complain; winning a title and losing 5 early (no one and done). I have a feeling you'll see Boston U in this same predicament next year...
  5. Gage Ausmus said that. I also don't see a clear ND in the logo. I see a NP moreso than anything else. Another frustrating this about this new look logo, it isn't even clearly ND or a hawk.
  6. His production has leveled off, so no surprised that UND wanted to keep him another year in juniors. We saw the same thing happen with Danny Mattson (he later went to Bemijidi). We have been winning the recruiting battles and I would expect to land one or two high end names early next year.
  7. The fact that we need to change the logo depending on the background, goes to show how poor of a logo we have.
  8. As was pointed by a poster on Brad's blog, Christian Cakebread is no longer committed to UND. Not surprised by this. http://www.vernonmorningstar.com/breaking_news/382548041.html
  9. That moment when you realize a logo on a shirt looks stupid....
  10. Might be a bad example as he left to play major juniors for 2 years before going pro. UofM still claim him as a former player who plays in the NHL. It does still show the struggle to keep the player in your program. UND has had this problem, as any top end program will. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=97817
  11. Perfect comment. "where a lot of people care about quaint ideas like tradition and continuity."
  12. Greene might not get bought out now. But $2 million isn't going to sign both Cullen and Greene anyways. Both are cup winners and veterans in the NHL.
  13. Where is everyone getting this that there is going to be slight modifications to the logo? From my understanding, Mr Ed has made it clear that this logo is it and no changes are coming forth.
  14. Exactly. For Hall's production, leadership, and not too bad of a cap hit, he's got great value. Why trade him away if you are looking for cap space?
  15. It really does. UND gets that extra year from our first rounders. Gophers have been hit hard by players leaving after one year or so. They've been doing better as of late in retaining their picks for an extra year or two. Gopher players leaving after one year Phil Kessel (2005) Erik Johnson (2006) Jim OBrien (2007) Kyle Okposo (2006, Part of 2007) Nick Leddy (2009)
  16. Isn't that petty, real classy. I stated my opinion, you took it as a fact. You're telling me Michigan's logo getting confused with Minnesota's lessens Michigan's impact? Or vice versa? I would just say the individual is the one that isn't aware of sports logos.
  17. In context, my point was in support of keeping the interlocking ND, NOT in support of the new logo.
  18. Now it's, "Let's keep releasing the Sioux gear and call it a Legacy Collection. That way we can still make money....without having to look like we're taking a stand on the nickname." Faison
  19. News flash for everyone. 99.9% of the world (let a alone this country) couldn't find North Dakota on a map. It doesn't matter if people mistake our ND for Notre Dame, they are a nationally recognized brand. To think this new logo is going to magically make UND more relevant from a national brand standpoint, is a far stretch. Not only will this logo not make us stand out more, but doesn't look good anyways. Mississippi, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, all get confused with one another at times. Who cares really, it doesn't lessen the impact of the school and it's athletic program.
  20. Larsson is a solid, young defenseman, who is still learning (23 years old). Sure the Oilers save some salary, but Larsson is signed at $4.1/M a year for the next 4 years. They saved $2 million in cap per year.
  21. Not hard at all. Hire a North Dakota native, no pun intended, to sketch the new logo. Hiring Ben Brien would have been the best bet, not only can Sioux fans transition on, but he could make it beautiful like his original Sioux logo. I've seen probably 7 different logos that were created prior to the launching of the logo that would have been unique and easy to rally around.
  22. We finally agree on something when it comes to the logo. Happy one week logo release day!
  23. I love bringing this point up with Gopher fans when they state that we only have Canadians or Minnesota players. It took a North Dakotan to bring glory back to Dinkytown.
  24. Just watch the press conference of the logo. Mr Ed shows it off nicely.................
