I dont care if Penn State joins either way, doesnt really hurt us any. But the big ten hockey conference would kill the competition between conferences. Imagine having a conference with Michigan, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Ohio State. Add in UND and we'd see the great rivalries locally start to disappear. It would leave UMD, BSU, St Cloud (possible us) out as a 2nd tier conference. It would become one super conference vs. hockey east. I like the way we have it now, with basically equal opportunity across the CCHA, WCHA, and HE, each conference has its one rivalries that need to be kept in tact.

UND or OSU? That is the question. Its a no brainer to me, SIOUX! You're right too, this is hockey not football. OSU has a great football program, that why he should go to UND. If hes got the family ties to UND, it'll be an easy choice with his dad supporting the Sioux.

Great to hear UW losing another stud recruit. Sounds like he committed way early, but I'm surprised hes decommitting from UW with him growing up a badger and his folks having season tickets. There lost our gain! Hopefully he still stays with college hockey though.

I'm surprised by bringing in this 20 yr Holst. We have 6 forwards set to come in next yr, I'm surprised we didnt bring in one of those players. Oh well, the staff knows what they're doing. Sounds like Holst will be more of a role player anyways. For everyone arguing that we should just move on and do whats right for the bball team and what not. REA said THEY wouldnt change a thing. There separate from the school. They said "Hodgeson has maintained that he and the REA board are against changing anything in the arena, and that UND would have to pay for any future changes that may be made to the building." Its UNDs choice to remove logos. Good for REA for standing for something and our history. Why should we be ashamed of the logo? It looks like the NCAA wouldnt come to the "non bias" arena that is the REA. So why remove any logos? In response to MplsBison, the school is becoming compliant so why would the NCAA ban us from the playoffs? We just cant host an event if the logos arent removed, big deal. I'd be nice, but the chances of us hosting are far and few between. UND itself is being fully compliant thats just ridiculous comment.

Hopefully is a small speedy forward to keep up with Yale and BC! Great news though.

I sure hope there is some form of recruiting on it. On NHL 11 you'll be able to play as CHL teams and play in Pro Mode, GM mode with them and play for the memorial cup. Hopefully we'll see the same with NCAA players and teams playing for the frozen four. I wish they'd just come out with a seperate game that has the CHL and NCAA together. Then add in recruiting and players leaving early, just like in NCAA basketball and football.

Such great news. The last two years I've created close to 12 college teams, with around 12 current skaters and 2 goalies for each team. Takes forever! And even better news CHL is going be on this years game, so i bet there trying hard to have NCAA as well!!! One last season with the Sioux as a team and hopefully the logo.

Blais doing a good job of recruiting and stealing recruits from the goofers. Its hard to see him at another bench, but im happy for him and am happy with the job our coaching staff is doing (minus the zero NCs)

I like it. We would still keep that spirit of the name of the Sioux alive. I know Fargo Force took the Force name, but it seems a couple years ago that UND started to use that as the Force of the North kind of thing. In reality I would prefer no nickname, I afraid that the university and Kelly is going to rush getting a new name and not give any imput from Alumni and community.

I like both. Moreso the Roughriders, considering Im a RRHS grad. But both are something important to north dakota. I just hope that we dont get so stupid animal or something that has no connection to north dakota. I wish we'd go with Warriors and just drop the logo on our jerseys.

i tell you i feel worse then i did when we lost to yale this year after hearing the news. its a joke really. that we couldnt just wait until the deadline, we would have had a vote and gotten support from the tribe. and if we didnt, oh well at LEAST THEIR VOICE WAS HEARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it kills me that politics need to get involved, instead of letting the majority rule and the democratic process see itself through. sad day indead, frustrating, and i feel cheated by the state of North Dakota and also by President Kelley. 'A new set of challenges' Kelley said the board's action today was not a surprise. "It is a matter now of managing a transition," he said. "I am happy to have a new set of problems to solve," he said. Are you happy? Congrats you now get to add another "accomplishment" on your resume. "Its just a matter of transition now". "Deal with it Sioux fans," who cares that the name gave us pride to be from North Dakota. What joke. I laugh when I think a conservative state like ND, would bend so easily when it comes to tradition and pride of American Indian culture. Here in Washington state there are so many high schools with Indian names and they dont think anything of it. They support it because it keeps the legacy alive for them.

What a terrible article by WDAZ, look at the article on the herald website http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/156823. clearly states what we've been discussing. That article by WDAZ says something completely different. Get it together WDAZ, "reporting the truth"

SR council sounds like there doing this: 1. Seeing what the school board will do, will it postpone and actually give Standing Rock an opportunity to vote or will it sell out for the liberal view. I feel Standing Rock again is saying, we will vote on it only if the board gives us room to do so in OUR time, not theres. 2. By their actions (SR) they're saying we want control of whether the nickname goes through or doesnt, not the board. Lets see if the board dares to retire the nickname with over 1000 people supporting the nickname at Standing Rock. I think its again a bold move, but Murphy did this before as well and its worked so far. Hes basically saying give us time, we know the deadline, dont push us into a decision. Its not the news i was hoping for, but at least they didn't say no to a vote.

Fienhage has played hard and has made the best of his opportunity, its not easy to crack the lineup of a top ten team in college. Heck we had what 15 or 16 draft picks, most WHL teams only have like 3-5 draft picks, you cant tell me he wouldnt have a better opportunity for PLAYING time which is needed for growth. Granted this year he did play well when asked to come in, 30 games is quite a bit. That being said, he would benefit from leaving, its not going to be easier to crack the lineup next year.

Fienhage may be a better fit in the WHL, its a fast paced league that needs some good hitters. If I was told I would be a potential starter, I'd take off. Especially with arguably the best defensive recruiting class in the nation coming in.

The deadline is Nov. They have till November to give us support, else we'll start changing the name. I dont know why you even care, why do you?

Thats the unspoken mystery of the Sioux this year, Whats the deal with Toews? I sure hope we see him as a regular next year, we need his speed, I was surprised that he wasnt playing in the tourney to match up against the other speedy players of yale. I think we'll see alot more of him.

Either way, hes accelerating his schooling and coming in early. Unless his assistant coach is a liar.

The deadline is this Nov 2010, how wouldnt UND be in the summit by 2012? The summit wants us in there, who are we kidding, like the summit wouldnt benefit by having UND playing teams in the league.
