  1. Its going be tough to replace the pony express and there production, but with our incoming freshman well be just fine.
  2. This is the best news I've read all day
  3. Here is the Trupp goal vs DU. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdMR4G4R5LM&feature=channel_video_title WHEN UND wins it, I'll make a video of all the goals and highlights of the tourney.
  4. Thats a solid list too. Already two players from that list have been signed. Genoway could have easily got to the European leagues last year. Not every Senior leader on a top program is going make it in the NHL/AHL, but I'm sure he'll have a productive career in Europe.
  5. Bravo!
  6. You're opinion of him was probably formed by watching press conference. Yes he is confident, thats why we get the nations top recruits. He expects excellence from players and professionalism. But if you did meet him when you attend UND 1 yr and he doesn't remember you, oh well, from the posts you've put on these boards I wouldn't be too fond of you either. On Thanksgiving two years ago I ran into him while bowling, he was pleasant and respectful. Coach Hak is a serious guy and confident, thats what you're going to get.
  7. Excuses are like.... Sioux didn't come to play that weekend, bottom line. Refs sway games, but still teams have the power to change the final touches. We got worked in Maine that weekend. Example Friday night Maine were 3/10 on the PP. 3 of the 7 goals scored against us were on a man advantage. The refs excuse is exactly that, an excuse for not showing up and turning things around.
  8. Haha this topic went off course quick. Great points Scotty, agree with COMPLETELY. In this Microwave culture, as Rick Pitino puts it, we expect to win now and don't want to do whats necessary to get there. Hak year and year, early signings and all, puts out a competitive team that Sioux fans should be proud of. Yes no NC to date. To be considered on of the great at UND you need to win 1. Hak will get there, in a one and done situation and having to win 4 straight its a lot tougher than Blais had it when you got a bye in the tourney.
  9. This whole argument about CHL vs College hockey is just getting old. Both have pros and cons. Having seen 5+ games of the WHL in person, particular in Tri-Cities and Spokane the players aren't nearly as strong (physically) in the CHL as they are in college hockey. Players are given far more time and space, where as college hockey is far more physically demanding. You can't tell me that the WCHA schedule, classroom, weight room time, and practice are so important for player development. More is not always better, thats the problem with today's society. What do you all think? Is playing 90 games and practicing 100 times better than playing 45 games and practicing/weight lifting 150 times?
  10. It bugs me when they say in college your schedule isn't as busy. But they forget about the character development and strength training. If the Blues want him to get physically ready for the NHL, keep him at CC for another season. I don't think the Blues are too concerned about which route Jaden takes, considering their team is held up by college talent.
  11. Completely agree, very smart deal on the Wild's part. Yes, Read might turn out to be a solid 4th line pro, but as a GM I wouldn't give him a 1 way contact.
  12. If I was living near Minneapolis, I'd just drive downtown near the X and buy it from someone trying to get rid of the tickets. People are so scared of "Scalpers" but in reality if you have any sales skills you can get them decently priced. Numerous times in St Louis for Cards, Blues, and Rams games I'd get tickets far off the face value by finding someone trying to get rid of tickets. I know this is the "Frozen Four" and Sioux/Duluth fans are going nuts, but still there will be opportunity. Trust me, there will be people that bought 4 tickets to the Frozen Four and at the last minute will have two extra tickets to dump at Face Value. If not, find a good bar and grill with other Sioux fans and enjoy.
  13. This time of the year isn't time for excuses. I agree with you. If you don't care of business the day before or if you go late into OT, its your own fault and it may be a little disadvantage but you can't use that as an excuse for losing.

    Dell

Also with this thought process in mind, we can say goodbye to Hextall, Gregoire, Kristo, Blood, MacWilliam, Dell, Eids, Forbort, Nelson, and the list goes on and on. The attitude with Sioux hockey is all about the team. The way the players buy into the Sioux way/business way of doing things are amazing and thats why we have players staying another year or two (ex: Duncan, Oshie, VandeValde, Frattin, Genoway, Malone, Gregoire)

    Dell

He just won the starting job, Dell that is. So much more to accomplish as an individual and as a team player. To assume that he has nothing left to accomplish is crazy. Why didn't Muse from BC leave after his freshman and junior years(Those were both title years for him and BC)? Development, a degree, another championship, his teammates and coaches, are I'm sure among the reasons why he didn't leave. Why would Dell leave after one amazing season? It's really hard to compare Belfour and Dell to each other unless you expect Dell to start in the NHL next season. Yes Dell just passed him in wins, but does that translate into NHL/AHL success? Also he's not drafted, yes he probably could get a contract from a pro team and bounce around like Lamoureux, JParise, and KarlG, but NHL teams want to see consistency. One great season, behind the nations top D core does help, if I'm an NHL GM I'd wait until his Junior season to even think about offering a contract.

    Dell

I don't, we have Dell who is just as steady. That's what we've been missing the last several years is a steady stay at home goalie. Eids even though he's solid, is far too aggressive in the net then I like to see. Dell's save on the 2 on 1 in I believe the 2nd or 3rd period when we had the PP was huge. All it would have taken is for a goal to slip in and that game's energy would have shifted.

    Dell

I highly doubt that. I don't want to play the IF game, but he'll be here until at least junior year. Rarely can goalies make the jump straight to the NHL or even AHL.
  18. love the matt cooke picture, goon must be beside himself

  19. I was amazed to see him after that hit. He was seeing stars afterwards. I thought for sure a concussion.
  20. I used my +1 for the day early!
  21. Some have, but Turris really hasn't.
  22. Oh no, starting the JFK/Lincoln parallels already?! GO SIOUX
  23. Here's a link to all early departures for 2011 http://www.uscho.com/early-departures-2011/#ixzz1HrzCS4UJ
  24. Also Nyquist of Maine forgoes his Senior season and signs with the Red Wings. http://www.uscho.com/2011/03/25/maines-nyquist-signs-with-red-wings/ On a sidenote, man am I thankful the season turned out a bit better than the weekend in Maine.
  25. Cam Atkinson signs two-yr deal with Columbus. Good for him and can't say I'm disappointed. Even though its a loss for college hockey, I'm fine with the 2 and dones, the 1 and dones bother me. http://www.uscho.com/2011/03/27/columbus-signs-boston-college-junior-atkinson-to-two-year-deal/
