  1. Where were you a couple years ago? I actually like this concept a lot, too late though!
  2. Yeah piece of art is a good description. However, I promise you the logo on our jerseys had nothing to do with getting beat by BC in the Frozen Four over and over again.
  3. I got ya, yeah it is definitely different than other hawk logos.
  4. Don't forget the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL. However, this hawk isn't nearly as unique as the Sioux logo. Brien had a purpose behind every part of the logo including the colors that connected to his Native American heritage as well as virtues UND looks for in a student-athlete. The Hawk was manufactured on a deadline by a company because a name was voted on by the community. This isn't a #SiouxForever rant but recognizing how special/unique our Sioux logo was compared to the FH logo doesn't mean you can't move forward either.
  5. Good to know, he sounds like a real gem.
  6. Well that's good, I know in some leagues the off-ice officials are involved in the video review. Thankfully that's the case because that overturned goal call felt like it was made by a glorified fan.
  7. In certain cases Off-Ice Officials can also help bring up and advise officials on video review. Good thing we didn't have any controversial video reviews this weekend
  8. I've always said that if I meet a Union hockey fan I'll buy them a drink for beating Minnesota in 2014, hasn't happened yet but might change this weekend! Because of that game, I'll have a soft spot for Union. Plus, they were a heck of a fun hockey team to watch, just relentless. Have a great turkey day as well and thanks for your insight!
  9. Correct, he said he had to talk his mom into the decision to turn pro because she wanted him to come back for another year.
  10. There was an interview that said once he got that contract in front of him & knew he just had to sign to fulfill his lifelong dream of playing in the NHL, he went for it. So might have been a little spontaneous from the sounds of it. Regardless, he is a great proponent for UND's program and it was really fun to watch him while he was here. I wish he would've stayed another year but I wish him the absolute best in his hockey career.
  11. Anyone else worried about Thome overplaying a lot of pucks? I've noticed it in his first 5 games but he never really paid for it. Denver's last 2 goals were scored on essentially empty nets while Thome was on the opposite side of the crease. It reminded me of Eidsness. Thome has great potential but needs to get a little more refined. I'm excited to get Cam back in the net for the stretch run.
  12. Not exactly a pump up video, but everyone should watch Jesse Martin's TedTalk on youtube, so incredible. Basically the dr's said 98% of the people that break the vertebrae he broke die. Of those 2% that survive about 98% are quadriplegic. Regardless of the legality of the hit, I'm honestly just happy we didn't see a college hockey player die at The Ralph that night.
  13. Yon was one of the few players last weekend that created trouble for Miami with his speed. He's earned a spot on this Friday's roster.
  14. Without looking back at the replay I believe it went: 16 wins faceoff to 9 whose shot is blocked, puck picked up by 16 backhand pass to 8, backhander into a wide open net.
  15. Gersich, not saying he should but he is a flight risk.
  16. Let me know where your next game is, I'd love to come watch that
  17. Hope so too, Borgstrom's 1st goal on friday was the nicest goal you'll see all year. How he roofed the puck from that close after a silly toe drag across the crease seemed to defy physics.
  18. A split is a win Hit borgstrom early and often.
  19. Thanks, edited my post to reflect.
  20. You too? Everyone always ask me what the scores of other games are
  21. Grand Forks residents voted 'NO' to this measure last year and got: 1. Language narrowed down to restrict the tax increase's usage 2. Decreased the jump from .75% to .50% 3. Decreased the length of the tax hike from 50 to 20 years As a result this passed with 76% of the vote. That's how this whole democracy thing is supposed to work I think.
  22. Mine works better if I connect to REA wifi signal. I like it so I can check CHN app for scores in between play/during intermission.
  23. IMO might be more pressure on Thome this week compared to last. New UND goalies are on record saying they 'hate' playing at REA, so much pressure and expectations from 12k diehard fans. Moral of the story: We need to score 1st to ease that pressure.
