BUT since I've been an assistant or head coach here we have never had an opposing coach so I was shocked to hear 'No' to Lowell Schweigert's invite to Don Lucia. When I was an assistant under Blais, even though he may not have wanted to he went to the UofM boosters luncheon and made Hak and myself come with. The reason is because despite us being very competitive on the ice, after the games we are respectful of each other because hockey is a small world. When I told the guys(UND team) about this in the locker room their eyes got really big. This is why we are so proud of how we conduct ourselves at UND and do things the right way. At one point, he apologized because he was getting worked up. It definitely seemed like he took it as an affront to our program & I don't disagree. If someone that was there thinks I am not summarizing this well or missed something please interject but this is what I got out of it. My friend and I were blown away that he was basically savaging Lucia and not mincing words whatsoever. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some words spoken between those 2 this weekend no matter the outcome of the games.

Coach Berry spitting venom about Lucia at the fan luncheon. He took it personally that Lucia was the 1st ever head coach to skip a UND fan luncheon.

Should this game probably be on national tv? Hell yes Is it the end of college hockey as we know it and the death of UND recruiting that gopher fans are making it out to be? Were you at Marriuci? Friday night was nuts and the crowd was going wild. I talked to Gopher fans who said it was the craziest atmosphere they've seen since the Big10 started and bemoaned the current state of their league because atmosphere was nothing like that weekend. No, not the same. NDSU is head and shoulders above UND in football(for now hopefully). In hockey, UND and UMN usually play exciting and competitive games with each team getting the upper hand at different times. Also, they both are usually top 10 in the country.

I'd guess It'll probably exceed 12k with the SRO this weekend. Biggest crowd in REA history perhaps?

Mismash got put on the "heavy line" in the 3rd period per Coach Berry with pogo and rhett so Id expect to see him there tonight. I'm also not gonna throw the towel in assuming this team will never click. It's been 3 games... don't need to jump off the bandwagon quite yet. Nah, they'll be amped up for 1st series of the year to show what they can do. However, next weekend vs St Lawrence in the comfortable confines of The Ralph with Minnesota coming to town the following weekend... much more potential for a trap weekend.
