  1. The ones that stuck out to me, didn't realize Matt Wellens didn't quote Bast in the 1st one(wonder why): Bast said he respects that UMD took him out of the transfer portal to fill a void on the roster this season, not to push out any other current players or recruits. He also respect how protective the staff is of the program’s culture. “Everyone talks about culture, like literally every program,” Bast said. “There’s some programs that actually walk the walk and other programs that talk the talk. What I’ve heard from Duluth is they walk the walk when it comes to culture. That was very appealing to me.”
  2. Am I being overly sensitive or was there some veiled shots in those quotes?
  3. It'll be interesting to see how his numbers fare without Shaugabay on his line
  4. Should be no issue for Pilgrim to continue his 2.97 PPG once he gets to UND...right?
  5. Also, they haven’t won the big game despite some on here thinking it was a foregone conclusion either MN or Michigan already had the title in hand.
  6. Last April we were probably already arguing Sioux vs Hawks so it's an improvement.
  7. As much as we bemoan the portal, it sure does make the offseason more interesting around here
  8. Yes, and a crushing end. I believe you can have both. But not finishing will haunt them similar to our 2010-11 season.
  9. Perhaps the shakeup in Mankato has Berry making a few calls...
  10. The combination of his size, his legacy at UND, and I imagine a dad who tells him exactly what it takes to play in the NHL will keep him here. Probably for 2 more years if I had to put $ on it.
  11. Yes OMac has to be a top 6 guy IMO Schmaltz has to show something next yr
  12. That was kind of my thought too
  13. No way Omaha fans are going to be bitter about this
  14. Going to miss Jandric, he was a great pick-up.
  15. Honestly not that obvious sometimes. If you can’t see the positive at forward next year and that some of these moves are addition by subtraction, i can’t help you. Most everyone I’ve seen has pointed out the concern with no returning dmen and goalies but only so many people can hold a metaphorical ‘World is Ending’ sign on this site. There are things to look forward to. Maybe they’ll have another down year and Berry’s position is in jeopardy but my money is on the opposite
  16. Here's my thought(not that anyone cares): This is alarming because it's unprecedented but the moves make sense. Our defense was one of the worst in the country last year, the =/- stats looked like the first page of a leaderboard at The Masters. I'm ok with all of these transfers IF Berry has a plan and has secured commitments from guys transferring in. If we're being honest with ourselves Moore was a GD liability on the back end all season, he turned the puck over so much I thought he played for the other team half the time. The offense is only going to be better with one more year of a stronger, faster Gaber, Blake, James(who made a huge step last season), Strinden, the list goes on. Add in a top 6 forward transfer, Perron(who by all accounts sounds like Blake 2.0) & Emerson and we should have zero problems scoring goals. Grab some d that can take care of the puck and eat up minutes and a goalie that can maintain a very low bar of .910+ save % and we will be an NCAA team fighting for a Penrose. Just one optimistic fan's opinion.
  17. Id really like kunz to take a step because we are small(but fast and skilled)up front. Be nice to get some size besides Juddy
  18. I’ll go ahead and stick with 5 of the last 6 national champions vs four 1st round wins
  19. My point stands, it's a massive overreaction from 1 game.
  20. Big 10 has 1 decent round of an NCAA Tournament(The 1st round nonetheless and against a couple of 4 seeds) and everyone loses their minds. Classic overreaction, a couple wins over Canisius and Colgate and apparently college hockey is changed forever. Ask yourself, when's the last time these high flying programs won the ultimate prize? 5 years ago? 10? 15? 20+ years ago you say?!
  21. Caufield coming back feels like good stability for next year's team. An upper classman that scored double digit goals and can bang bodies.
  22. Don’t have a .940 goalie to bail them out anymore
  23. Chalk me up a vote for 'G Funk'
