Just want to remind everyone the world was imploding on this message board almost a year ago to the day when we lost all of our Dmen. An 'NCAA team fighting for a Penrose' seemed optimistic back then(at least for some). We won the Penrose, we're in the NCAAs, might as well win 4 more measly games. Also LOL at including Emerson

I believe the rules are no politics or personal attacks, nothing about Ralph in there. And Ralph did just fine at wealth creation and giving back to his alma mater, he didn't need to be a good goalie or win titles.

Don't forget UND getting a strange, somewhat lucky goal that hopped up over the Michigan goalie's shoulder. AND that goal not getting overturned on what looked like a high stick entering the zone. Sure now that they won everyone says they knew that team was destined but at the time I don't remember it being so certain, especially after 16 years of heartbreak with some damn impressive teams. You need a team playing their best hockey AND some luck. Hence why Michigan, Minnesota, Boston College, Boston University, and Wisconsin haven't won a title in over 12 years(or 26 if you're Michigan). But it's probably just Bubs not yelling at his players enough

Would love to jump BU as we seem to have been much better this year when we’re able to match lines. And it’d be critical to match with Celebrini and Hutson as they change games. It’d be nice if the only team we have to worry about is BC, if we even have to play them in the title game potentially.

Playing devils advocate, Why would hak have gotten it done in 2015-16 when he didn’t with Duncan oshie toews zajac Stafford, the pony line, etc? I’d say it’s a rather large logical leap to assume in parallel universe hak would have gotten it done when the one knock against him was that his teams didn’t get it done for over a decade in the frozen four, no matter how good they were in the regular season. And I am of the opinion he was a great college coach(but so is Berry). It’s incredible to me how this board has revisionist history regarding Haks legacy. After every frozen four letdown the cries for him to be fired were louder and louder. And after 2015 they were at a fever pitch. Then he went to the nhl and proved his legitimacy and now everyone seems to conveniently forget how chastised he was while at UND.

I hate to keep this discussion going because it’s feeding a few known trolls but banners are what define this program. We can agree on that. We love wins and success but we like to see banner raising ceremonies to measure success. League titles and NCAA are the big ones. Hakstol who just coached his 500th NHL game was 3 for 11 on league titles and 0 for 11 on NCAA titles. Berry has won 5 of 9 league titles and is 1 for 9 on NCAA titles. Can we all agree Hakstol was a pretty damn good college coach which has translated to the best league in the world? Then, by extension can we agree Berry is also a damn good coach as he’s raised more of those banners than Hak? I’m not saying he’s definitively better but he’s on the same level.

It’s not very often I learn something new about UND hockey but that’s a cool stat. Thanks for sharing

This could have changed but I believe in the past the committee takes the approach that “a flight is a flight”. So because DU would have to get on a plane it doesn’t matter that SF is closer.
